Season 8 isn't very good, poor script, poor acting... in general feels like they ran out of ideas

Season 8 is a massive pile of disappointment. First of all, I don't really have any issues with whoever ends up killing the night king, or who ends up in the iron throne and so forth. But I care about good writing execution, which past seasons had and what season 8 lacks. Nothing really makes sense now, so I don't really care what happens anymore. All the history, rich lore, logic, character arc, they all just gone down to the trash. There's no motivation, no reasonable explanation. Things just happen now. Maybe in the finale they'll show the best blacksmith in the 7 kingdoms who crafts the "thickest armours full of holes" for our characters. Maybe s/he will end up in the iron throne. Whatever, D&D can't hold a candle to the world GRRM created.… Expand

It WAS one of the best shows. Until Benioff and Weiss ruined almost everything R.R. Martin gave us. I had such high hopes and then everything after the books ended progressively got worse and worse as the seasons went on. I understand it's aIt WAS one of the best shows. I understand it's a story that won't give us exactly what we want(season 1 finale proves that) but my goodness, what the **** Watching the season 8 finale and all I can think is, did these guys even really work on the first 4 seasons?! Did they fall and hit their heads and forget EVERYTHING other than the character names? Seasons 1-4 = 9/10. Season 5 = 7.5/10.
Season 6 = 6/10. Season 7 = 5/10. Season 8 is at best a 4/10. Will not be watching any of the spin-offs, unless the story is done almost ENTIRELY by Martin.… Expand

Complex adult characters have been purposefully dumbed down, while one-dimensional teenage Arya has been promoted, probably because dumb and dumber figured she didn't require any intelligent nuanced dialogue, of which they have no hope of writing. Where once there was a brilliant plot structure, there is now a sense of nothing making sense, which has nothing to do with subverting expectations and everything thing to do with dumb and dumber being totally out of their depth.… Expand

I've been waiting for the last episode for so many years and now I feel so disappointed with it. Terrible story writing, terrible scenes, it's not GoT anymore, it's changed into Disney's fantasy. I watched the whole series, each episode. The movie makes decided to kill the 2 best lead actors in the movie and changed the whole course of the movie in the last episode, I should have read the book or at least know about the end, veryI watched the whole series, each episode. after the 4 season the writers just drop it. tyrion was no longer smart, jon snow character was destroyed, the season 8 was the warst it could ever happen to the show, a disaaster.

About other continent the plot in general forgot. Key characters are killed so ridiculously, apparently, that you watch the parody to the primary source. And only the last series extinguished my anger, it is visible that it was written by George Martin. And because of a dull final season it is necessary to read the latest book.… Expand

I really wanted to give this a 10 out of 10. The hype I was given over this series made me expect this to be one the best shows TV shows I'd ever seen, and while the production was extravagant, the intrigue was interesting, and some actingI really wanted to give this a 10 out of 10. The hype I was given over this series made me expect this to be one the best shows TV shows I'd ever seen, and while the production was extravagant, the intrigue was interesting, and some acting performances were gravitating, I'm saddened to say this fell short of the praise that was lavished onto it.

I love fantasy with all it's well-known tropes of magic, creatures, and fantastic places -- and while there certainly was evidence of these things in GoT, I don't feel they were featured enough except towards the latter half of the series (and even then, less than I would have liked). For the most part, I felt I like I was seeing a medieval period drama that could have been based off of real historical events. That is fine I suppose, but everyone told me it was a high fantasy epic, so that is what I expected to get -- I don't think it lived up to that description as well as it could have.

Furthermore, it was too much of a family drama. I know that is needed to establish a lot of the connections and motivations of characters, but sometimes, I found a lot of it filler. Many times, I found myself wishing characters would stop talking about their feelings so we could move the story to it's next relevant point. I suppose there were other things that one could mention like lengthy "audience torture" over watching injustices and sad happenings go on for far too long to be rightly resolved, or how some characters seemed to suddenly "flip" in personality or motivation quite quickly from what established them before, but these are less of a problem for me than previous points.

Some of the things I mentioned in this review may greatly appeal to some viewers, and earn GoT a 10 out of 10, but unfortunately, those same things cause me to give it a score less than that.… Expand

I would give 8-9 if not the last season, the last season was completely disappointing.
I have not watched a TV show with such a bad ending so far.

A fantastic tv show easily a top 10 on all of television... that will slowly degrade in quality as the years roll on. Easily recommended for 6 seasons worth of great episodes but if you wish to continue further prepare yourself for nonsense and bad writing that breaks from the entire style that the show had in it's earlier episodes.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a disappointment! The first couple of seasons belong no doubt to television’s proudest achievements. I really loved GOT. But what the writers did with the storylines and the characters in the final two seasons is nothing but disappointing and a real shame. And in the end, they simply had no clue how to do justice to all the buildup from the previous seasons. One battle against the biggest threat from the north? Seriously, that was it? And Cersei dies in a cave without being confronted by her enemies directly? All the experiences that Jamie had to endure seem to be just a waste of time, he dies with his sister. And Dany turning into Hitler and going mad and aiming to become ruler of the world? I could go on and on, but this collection of plot-holes just spoils everything that used to make GOT one of the best series ever.… Expand

Started off good, reached its peak in season four, lots of problems in season seven, season eight was full of wasted potential and let downs. Jon Snow deserved better.

I didn't mind that they made Dany crazy - you could see the signs in earlier seasons - I just hate that it was so rushed. Season Eight was awful. It was a such a disappointing end to a decade-long show :(

It is extremely difficult to rate the entire series when the quality varies so massively. The first four season were exceptional, 5 was poor, 6 was an extremely mixed bag, and 7 and 8 were absymal. As an overall I'd give it a 6.
