I congratulate the cast and crew on creating one of the greatest tv shows I have ever seen, and my heart goes out to the actors whose beloved characters were butchered in this mess of a season. The writers D&D have let down millions of fans this weekend, and utterly destroyed whatever hype the show still had going for it. The plot contradicts itself, the pacing is sloppy, the plot armor is thick, and the development of the narrative was atrocious. I have been ranting about nearly every episode upon its release, and I gather it was justified. I am incredibly let down by this season. Expand

The show was reduced to "let's kill baby Hitler" instead of looking at it from the philosofical point and accepting that everyone on the throne will decent to madness or alcoholism or will be just a puppet.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Season 8 was vastly disappointing and by far the worst season of them all. What made the series so good for me was because you always had expect the unexpected, so I guess in a way the final episode did just that. There was far to many episodes in this series that let it down. The end of the war with the white walkers was done in one episode so far to quick. It was a clearly one sided battle to the extent that it was embarrassing and unbelievable! A similar rant could be aimed at episode 7 which had similar characteristics. The deaths of the two hated Lanisters ended with them both being crushed to death under a pile of rubble when the whole world were guessing which main character would put them to the sword. In the end we were left with most of the main cast still standing after most of the world was wondering how many would be left.
Do I feel cheated? I would have to say a big fat yes!

Watching this season, while the events follow each other quickly in a superficial way, without explanation, without in-depth analysis, and the characters turn into puppets moved by hands that are too hasty, we understand that whoever adapted Martin's story wanted to finish the job at all costs .

It doesn't matter if Martin spent more than 30 years thinking and writing a story full of details. The television business has its times, and the quality is too expensive in this world, more than all the special effects and actors have cost.

At the last possible moment show abandons most of its plot lines, throws away character arcs and hurriedly sprints to the most cliche ending imaginable...

Even the wonderful music, cinematography and acting can't salvage what is in essence poorly written fan-fiction, with so many plot holes its hard to believe its' a work of professional writers...

GOT: Season 8 is the weakest season of the show for sure, since it felt extremely rushed and at times nonsensical. The writing was at times horrendous, even though there were a few moments that honestly were well-done. But, it mostly seemed rushed and all over the place, which is a shame. Some characters were well-developed, but others had such a poor character development that many times it seemed undeserved how their character turned out to become to. The plot armor was so absurd at many instances, diminishing the overall tension. This season definitely needed to have 10 episodes so the events could be explained more thoroughly and sensibly, because 6 episodes were not enough at all for this season. But the redeeming qualities of this season are the outstanding visuals, acting and direction, and all of these things made the season more tolerable than it would've been without them. I rated it so low previously probably because I was comparing this season with the other ones too much, and maybe that's kind of unfair. The season on its own isn't so awful, but it's still a huge disappointment. Although the ending was mediocre, I still accept it as it is. This ending was heart-breaking both in the sense that it was disappointing and that the show has finally ended, after all of that hardship and drama.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a disappointment! The first couple of seasons belong no doubt to television’s proudest achievements. I really loved GOT. But what the writers did with the storylines and the characters in the final two seasons is nothing but disappointing and a real shame. And in the end, they simply had no clue how to do justice to all the buildup from the previous seasons. One battle against the biggest threat from the north? Seriously, that was it? And Cersei dies in a cave without being confronted by her enemies directly? All the experiences that Jamie had to endure seem to be just a waste of time, he dies with his sister. And Dany turning into Hitler and going mad and aiming to become ruler of the world? I could go on and on, but this collection of plot-holes just spoils everything that used to make GOT one of the best series ever. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointing. First two episodes went so slow, then they defeated a villain who has been hyped up for 7 seasons in one episode. This season was rushed and contained many plot holes such as several prophecies from the books that made it into the show were suddenly ignored in season 8. Episode 5 "The Bells" was the worst episode of GOT I have ever witnessed. They spent years showing how Dany was compassionate (D&D even in an analysis of one GOT episode that Dany wasn't her father) just to make her ruthless and brutal in the last two episodes so they could off her and have an 'edgy' show ending. Complete opposite of her character arc. Also with character development, they developed Jon Snow to be this honorable noble guy, who then kills his lover? Jon wouldn't do that let's be honest. Seemed like a crap way to fulfill the azor ahai prophecy (which was CLEARLY about the white walkers). The literal least likely to get the iron throne, was bloody Bran. WTF. He himself said he isn't even human anymore. Ending was rushed and made no sense, seemed likely they didn't care and wanted to move on. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The ONLY reason I have given this train wreck a 3 instead of 1 is some of the production value in terms of special effects.
Writing, has been horrific, cliche, deus-ex-machina every episode to subvert the audiences expectations, attention to detail went out the window this was painfully manifest in every battle scene to the invisible pirate ships that decloaked like Klingon Birds of Prey after firing anti-dragon bolts that would make a modern Anti-Air battery blush all this done in the name of creating some great cinematic experience, here's a clue,,, it doesn't! it's cheap and undeserving of what has been for the most part an excellent television series.
The decline that started somewhere around season 5 matured into a festering heap of dung by season 8.

Game of Thrones has always stood strong and made tough choices to keep the series fresh and its central characters extremely important. The revelation of Jon Snow's heritage, Daenerys' ascension as a new superpower, the battle with the Night King, and Cersei's resistance all feel mishandled. So much of season 8 feels so rushed. Sometimes the show's writing and narrative choices feel great but the biggest moments often come off as rushed and insincere which will annoys probably a majority of fans. Even in the series finale, the most important episode to land in the entire GoT catalog, idiotic choices in storytelling, flash forwarding, and more leave room for an inappropriate amount of questions that needed to be answered. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone cruising through the reviews so I'll keep from any real plot reveals that could spoil the fun for another viewer but I just can't be happy with what happened in the final episode, which started off fine and then beings to fall apart after the 1/3 point of its 79 minute runtime. I can't believe the show's writers forced everything into 6 episodes when HBO offered them a solid 10 episodes which were probably required to bridge gaps and let big moments really breathe. If Martin's books follow the same general path of the TV series there's going to be a second uproar from fans. Martin has a chance to not be so ignorant and hasty as the show's executive producers and directors and I doubt Martin would be so numb to a good ending that he'd risk repeating the final events the same way the show did. This is the risk you run when you get ahead of yourself. Perhaps the show should have taken more time off? But the final season had already skipped a year to make sure it was polished up. No matter what, HBO will surely be spiteful toward GoT's show heads for ending things so rocky. The first 7 seasons all had their special moments and the rise of Jon Snow seems like such an easy home run to hit and yet I have to completely disagree with where the show's creators lead his path when all is said and done despite having several special moments in season 8. Perhaps the only things gotten right in the final moments of GoT is the remaining Stark family's bow-tied end, Daenerys' outcome, Tyrion Lannister's huge importance being recognized more and more. Just about everything else felt wrong, it felt half-assed with plot twists. Expand

All for f-ing nothing. Dumb & Dumber managed to ruin one of the best show ever just before the finish line. All those prophecies and things that were developing in the end were for nothing as they were not even used for a purpose. It might have been salvageable if they waited for the books to be finished or dedicate the entire season to the night king battle, while at the same time depicting very slowly but surely Daenerys as a villain, as they wanted to, or simply pick another route. And then! Only then dedicate another season to end all of it properly... Dany doing all that is just out of character, after freeing so many people, breaker of chains, after liberating slaves she just snaps like that. What the actual f-? Episode 6: Easily one of the most disappointing episodes not only of this season but of the whole series. There is a petition to remake it all but I doubt it will happen (i'd really be glad if it did). Season starting sub-par, below average of every season only for it to get worse each time.. after episode 1 or 2 it was just a free fall without a parachute. I feel bad for all the actors, engineers, artists and crew members who worked really really hard to deliver an astonishing thing visually, audio wise, fx wise and acting wise but which were ultimately went down the **** hole because of some stupid writers. The crew and actors deserve an 11/10 all day everyday (which is why this is a 3/10 and not a 0/10)... the **** writers? (negative) -10/10. While Season 8 of “Game of Thrones” ends on a satisfying note, it is much more loosely plotted than its previous seasons. This allows for some spectacular moments, but also leaves space open for inconsistent writing by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. By hiring a third writer, the season could have been more polished and impactful than the end product received.

Unfortunately, Game of Thrones has always purported to be less of a visual spectacle than an epic and brutally realistic saga. So in judging the final season on the terms it set for itself in earlier seasons, it's nothing short of a disaster.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a **** stupid ending. Before the last episode, the season stood at an 8, which is low for Game of Thrones (usually a 9 or 10) but that stupid ending killed it for me. What a bloody joke. Once Daenerys was stabbed, I actually burst out laughing, and when the DRAGON decided to ignore Jon and burn a throne he had never seen before, it became full-on hysteria. The rest of the episode just served as comic relief in varying degrees. Felt like I was watching a parody of Game of Thrones. Disgrace. Signing that petition doesn't sound so bad now. 5/10 Expand

This is a vote for protest. Cause they had the budget and the material to do something great yet they chose the way of lazy writing and hurry. The writers should never work again on such big production. And Martin should be really pissed of seeing how they butchered his work. I will wait for the books!

Apart from a few stupid moments, rearranging chairs, and one lines that fall flat...he does a great job of being Tyrian. Negatives: Dark, poor story line, quick pace, and writing. The show not what it used to be.

Glad it's over, but still not sure how I feel about the way it played out.

I hope George RR Martin finishes the books and we can get what we want out of the books. A precise, story that makes sense, creates emotion, and we beg for it not to end.

It is the competing loyalties, the loves and enmities that enmesh the Lannisters, Starks, Targaryens and the rest, after all, and the questions Game of Thrones poses about conscience and corruption and the manifestations of power, that will propel us through to the end.
