The dimension of the story was already very narrow with season seven.
Westeros is shrinking to two venues, Winterfell and Kings'Landing. The drama and battle for the Iron Throne does not find a well-, or intelligent climax in the last episode.
In places, the stories of some characters are completed satisfactorily. Logical errors, incomprehensible actions of the characters and the ignoring of Westeros as a whole but have a bitter aftertaste.
Another or longer episode, which takes more time, would have been worthy of Game of Thrones. Here is really questionable why those responsible have finished the series so.
On the other hand, one can say about the end,it is good as it is.
They could have made it worse.

I burst out laughing multiple times as it was just ridiculous. Honestly, at some point, I was expecting that maybe D&D/HBO were playing a prank as their final goodbye, and the real episode will be revealed in some elaborate manner. This episode, however, has been a gamechanger: the first time a finale episode has made me reduce my rating for a TV show. Yes, it was that bad, stupid, and laughable. Game of Thrones went from a 10 to an 8, and destroyed all rewatchability value. Rejoice, Breaking Bad, your throne is safe (for now. The Expanse is a contender for best TV show of my lifetime right now. Go watch it). D&D shame on you for ending such a great story like this. Bloody clowns. Expand

Needless to say, the story and character arcs were rushed to a point to where nothing makes any sense. To make matters worse, these character arcs started in Season 1. Without any payoff to these arcs, there is no reason to watch the earlier episodes. Basically, Season 8 killed what was arguably the best show ever. Everything that happened was meaningless. Expand

He was almost an extra this season, not even the king of the north. Bran living in the past and being from another world w no feelings whatsoever-didn't matter. Were are the Dothrakis? dissapeared. unsolied?-they decided to leave(?). At the end danny's and Jon's 8 year journey was for nothing, with no explanation. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Look, it's bad. There's no denying in that, even more if you love Game of Thrones. It's not about the ending, but about the journey there. This entire season was rushed, and so many loose points without an explanation. Game of Thrones was too good, so the ending that they gave to close the main plot of the series was unfair - Many things without the necessary development that the GoT deserved - that's the point. And for this episode specifically, can someone answer me why Grey Worm didn't kill Jon Snow? He was a soldier that had faith in Daenerys and Daenerys only, he, the Unsulied and the Dothraki were all alone in Kings Landing, the lords of Westeros would take weeks to arrive there, so WHY didn't he kill Jon? This is the main absurd, but so many more to mention... Expand

The individual character storylines didn’t resonate with the build up and development over the past seven seasons, with the exception of a couple of characters. Having waiting two years for the season, I can help but feel disappointed in the writing behind this season and the conclusion to the plot.

But it is very important to give credit where it is due. The cinematography, effects and acting was breathtaking. It’s just a shame that the writing didn’t give these other factors a foundation which they deserved to shine and flourish as they should.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Respawning Dothraki & Unsullied, Daenerys has descended into what can only be described as Hitler level insanity, Grey Worm doesn't take prisoners but decides to take Jon prisoner, Tyrion is "not here to speak" but is allowed to continue speaking, Bran does nothing the whole season and "can never be lord of anything" but is now lord of the 7 kingdoms and that's why he "came all this way", Jon has to go back to the Night's Watch (???) and all the build up over 8 seasons comes crashing down around us. This episode is a blatant example of Dumb & Dumber's impatience with the show with the prospect of a potential Star Wars trilogy, which thankfully, they will not be getting to do. The fact that an online petition to re-write the entire last season gained over 1.5 million signatures is enough to tell you that this ending could not have been worse. Expand

The only thing good about this final episode is that it put an end to the pain this season brought.

The long-awaited finale left plot holes, several continuity problems, and and overall disregard for major plot points that were built up over the series. Major reveals and character developments that built up viewer excitement were rendered useless, and had little to no effect on the story. Top it all off with the most cliche scenes and dialog, and you've got what the directors feel was the way to end one of the most popular series of all time.

Hats off to the VFX teams though. The episode and season as a whole had some fantastic visuals, and their team should be proud.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE!!!
This finale is absolutely incredible!! I never thought it would end up this good, after being tremendously disappointed by how awful the first 4 seasons were. I held on, despite George's awful writing, because I knew that David and Dan are amazing directors! The show got so many things wrong in previous seasons. Like the battle of the bastards, that was such an awful episode. Sansa and Littlefinger winning the fight thanks to the Knights of the Vale? Boring. Rickon running towards Jon and getting shot? Predictable

I'm so glad the writing in this show how finally gotten so much better. Bran ending up on the iron throne is genius and has been forshadowed for the past 2 minutes before Tyrion announces it. People say Dany's character development is too quick but they forget that she destroyed king's landing a full episode ago!!!!!

Finally, Drogon burning the iron throne was a genius, symbolic move, as it expresses the similies and metaphors of the show. Even though the acting was awful, thankfully it was saved by D&Ds amazing writing!!!!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An outrage and insult to the beloved characters and their journeys we have followed loyally throughout all the series!
In any epic journey what the writers here forget and Tolkien (George RR Martins inspiration) achieves is that no one really cares much about the ring/who sits on the throne, they get behind the morality and love stories entwined. In this finale Jon doesn't end up with Danny and the throne isn't her "precious" it's the thousands of people she saves and frees! She goes North with Jon first to save his people before continuing to the throne. Killing Danny and then stripping Jon of any happiness just was misery making and they destroy hope and leave you with none. Can I understand Aryas ending? yep Sansa's, yep? and Tyrions? Sure.. but they put all the emphasis on Danny and Jon to be hero's and then left us wanting a different ending. They got it wrong.

Varys writes letters depicting Jon's' birth right then no one mentions it! It's been the main secret and push of the books and series and it's never mentioned! Ridiculous! My left big toe could have written a more plausible ending.... In my opinion, the reasons it didn't work were that the GOT final seasons have come at a time of cultural change, a time of all the sex abuse revelations, me2, girl power with bold new female characters even in Disney (frozen etc) where beforehand men were always the rescuers. Danny stood for something many girls and women could identify with. Used by her brother, sexually abused, she came into her own sexual power, chose to free herself and others, stood up for the minority. This all in a cultural time in the world when people were/are talking out about race, rights, protecting their nationalism but being compassionate and tolerant. Girls dyed their hair, people wore branded t-shirts and dragons became popular so even the geeks and outcasts were accepted. Good won over evil, you believe in her and suffer with her. To suddenly have her turn corrupt it dashed all hope. Jon was the outcast, the bastard, the morally good one. He is always trying to do the right thing and everyone else as viewers knew his secret. The secret then has no real baring, it's a so what? he doesn't kill the night kill as a result or become king and no one stands up for his right! it becomes a redundant plot line. If he and Danny had handed over the ruling of the 7 kingdoms to someone like Tyrion and gone off together it would have been more poignant. Rejection of power to choose love and hope for future, forgiveness of family and cultural power and mistakes. Unity not of kingdoms but of togetherness, the uniting they had was a farce. Almost too ridiculous to comment on. It all peters out. It's a group of white men deciding on the future of all races, in a time when the world is in dismay at the world's leaders, where Trump and Putin are in power and new laws are being passed re banning female rights like abortion I was truly shocked to see this. GOT was always ahead and pro-female, more culturally diverse and aware! So who is the three eyed raven, so why? the green eyes for Arya, what of all the dathraki? and grey worms army? after all we followed them too and they were the disenfranchised, the outcast that we had hope in. Do they sail away? Never to father children, just to die alone? What about the dragons we loved and wanted to see flourish? It just didn't work and now we are left with those we identified with having lost their identity so we all feel bereft. Furthermore, Jon loses Both women he loves, Jamie can't be redeemed in love to a good woman, Arya rejects love for adventure, Sansa is alone as Queen, Tyrion loses the love of a brother who is the only one who loved him, Bran can't love or have children. It's a loveless end and no one likes that as it takes away hope. They're just left with a circle of white guys ruling! No change there then! and again... no frigging hope! Bad ending? You bet!

Frustrante e muita anti-clímax, a série termina de maneira detestável, e o que deveria trazer melancolia trouxe raiva, onde os caminhos tomados são totalmente sem lógica no qual foi dado pela própria série, desapontamento resume este fim.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nothing is answered and so many plot lines are left unfulfilled. So many elements make no sense like after Jon kills Dany and the dragon carries her off , who would know unless Jon confessed.
After all the consternation of the white walkers and such , 1 small women ends it all (previous episode) so the big baddie is now Cersei , Oh no! It's Dany who kills innocent women and children. Bran does an about face and accepts the Crown. I could go on and on as others have , but it seems that HBO and the writers were determined to kill this thing at all costs. Plot holes abound , just like Avengers Endgame , making it hard to ignore the woeful writing. After watching all 8 seasons , one can not help but feel let down. Sadly , I will not be able to go back and re-watch this series because of the ending.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People that are giving negative scores for any of the final season either didn’t “get it” or are just mindlessly following the trolls. Putting Bran on the throne was the only option. He holds the memories of men and is the only person that can truly avoid repeating all of the mistakes of the past. Jamie returning to Kings Landing to try and save his sister, even though he knows how evil she is because family is family. And watching Daenerys’ descent into near madness following her fathers footsteps and becoming the mad queen was epic. The wars following the murder of King Beratheon are what delivered the people into a safer and ultimately more pleasant future, one which would not be possible without the sacrifices of countless people.

Downvoting the ending because you don’t get it is insulting to the writers but mostly the actors who spent 8 years of their lives telling us this epic story. It was a near perfect ending to a near perfect show.

Not the best episode, but you have to remember the better the series the harder it is to end it. The finale couldn’t have ended better. The series was wrapped up so perfectly it left me mostly satisfied, with very few concerns.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointing would be a good word to describe "The Iron Throne". I was digging the episode about 20-30 minutes in. The tone resembled that of The Empire Strikes Back - a new dynasty shrouded in radical tyranny that puts on a happy face to pretend they're doing the right thing. I loved that take but it falls apart before the halfway point hits and suddenly terrible narrative choices are made, like the flash forward from Jon Snow and Drogon's encounter at the iron throne to the meeting of the "nobles". I just don't get it. And, SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE ON OUT, Arya's never fulfilled her destiny to shut a pair of green eyes and the pushing of Brandon Stark (Three Eyed Raven) is incredibly mind-numbing. I'm sure everyone wanted Jon Snow to take the throne and the fact that Stark himself said he could not hold a rulership back when he was offered the Northern Kingdom (Winterfell) makes me think the writers abandoned their own storyline, unless that was supposed to be the ending all the time and Bran was just holding out for the rule of all the kingdoms. Even if Bran was to become king, Jon Snow being banished to the Night's Watch is a HORRIBLE outcome as the result of just ONE wandering people (Unsullied) saying he should be punished was outrageous (Snow's abandoning his position of a dead Castle Black softened the blow some, but only some). If they wanted Bran on the throne, Jon should have become the commander of the armies as Tyrion calls him "The Shield" while Jon visits him awaiting trial for treason). I kept getting hung up on the "how does everyone know Jon Snow kills Daenerys when there were no witnesses and no body to be found because Drogon carries her away). I loved the melting of the iron throne to symbolize the plague that is the throne and how one person will always be challenged to respect the power that comes with it and that it killed his "mother". It was at-best an OK episode but unfortunately there were too many missteps for me in season 8 that made the show way less impactful than any of the previous 7 seasons. I was hoping they could match the significance and imagery of the Night King's army breaking through the wall somewhere in season 8 and they never came close. I didn't hate the battle that occurred at night but at the same time it was such a bad choice that didn't focus on significant events very well. The whole season isn't a wash but overall it really didn't deliver on expectations. As for The Iron Throne, it's a 5 for me. It had the tone and a good enough setup but it fumbles and rushes its way to the finish line. Shame. Shame. Shame. Expand

If only Daenerys' storyline of being The Mad Queen would have made sense and Bran would have been more useful, this episode would have been received much better my changing nothing to the story of last episode. The only flaw I noticed was how quick and somewhat not much interesting scene was of Bran being chosen The King, and the worst line - "Who has better story than Bran the Broken, SERIOUSLY ??? Even if this series would have received universal acclaim, I would have hated this line ! Apart from all of this, the episode was A MASTERPIECE ! From start to a highly EMOTIONAL finish this episode was the best episode of season 8. The death of Daenerys, Drogon burning the Iron Throne, and that awesome powerful Daenerys speech to Dothrakis gave me total Goosebumps ! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The ending is a cluster f-... Easily the worst for a series of this magnitude. Everything happened for nothing, Jon being a Targaryen for nothing, Bran becoming the three eyed raven for nothing, Daenerys' character development destroyed in a mere episode of a rushed season (the worst season ever), again.. In the end for nothing. Dumb & Dumber managed to ruin one of the best show ever just before the finish line. All those prophecies and things that were developing in the end were for nothing as they were not even used for a purpose. It might have been salvageable if they waited for the books to be finished or dedicate the entire season to the night king battle, while at the same time depicting very slowly but surely Daenerys as a villain, as they wanted to, or simply pick another route. And then! Only then dedicate another season to end all of it properly... Easily the most disappointing ending for a series. There is a petition to remake it all but I doubt it will happen (i'd really be glad if it did). Season started well, but after episode 1 it was just a free fall without a parachute. I feel bad for all the actors, engineers, artists and crew members who worked really really hard to deliver an astonishing thing visually, audio wise, fx wise and acting wise but which were ultimately went down the **** hole because of some stupid writers. The crew and actors deserve an 11/10 all day everyday (which is why this is a 1/10 and not a 0/10)... the **** writers? (negative) -10/10. Jon Snow, true heir and king to the Iron Throne, king in the north and king beyond the wall. That's how it should have ended. Either him on the throne or nobody. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First, what I liked:

Tyrion walking through the burnt city had in me in some feels, finding the bodies of his siblings kind of got to me. The acting was still good, but...

What I didn't like:

Daenerys was ruined, we know that, and it upset me as well. However, Tyrion said Bran has the best story to his name, yet various others present have really interesting experiences and even though Sansa didn't want the position it's still insulting to her since Sansa also went through hell and Bran wasn't even raped.

Also, after Bran is king and Tyrion is his hand... Tyrion and the other masters of whatever aren't very productive, though Sam tried to be, but then Tyrion talks about bringing a donkey to a brothel...

Arya Stark goes on a ship, which is in character for her and I was personally fine with, but Jon gets sent back to The Wall.

He died though, his watch had ended. Whatever, it was lore-friendly for them to send him back, but I don't like it.

Also, there are some loose ends and some characters never returned, but maybe I needn't search for the perfection, because it isn't here or anywhere really.

Luke Skywalker once said: "What a piece of junk!"

Luke did say that about a beloved ship though, so if this episode is your Falcon then that's fine by me, but to me, this was a piece of junk.
