Poor Story. Hope George RR Martins Books are better. Stay tuned the next 2 years.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I might have rethought my mediocre score if we knew we were getting a season of more than 6 episodes, or if this were leading into something other than the final season. As it was, some connections that had to happen happened, but the ones that were important could have been taken care of in 15 minutes. I have to side with the protesters on Jon *Targaryen* riding his first dragon: when it happened, as was inevitable, I wanted it to be in the heat of battle with doom hanging by the proverbial thread, Jon attempting to mount because there is no other way the human race survives, so he takes the risk. I did not want it to be a matter of Dany telling him to just hop on. Drogon's reaction to them kissing once they've gotten far from the madding crowd was pretty funny ("I've got my eye on you, punk!") but like so many other things that reached apotheosis this season, it was a promise that went unfulfilled. Dumb & Dumber managed to ruin one of the best show ever just before the finish line. All those prophecies and things that were developing in the end were for nothing as they were not even used for a purpose. It might have been salvageable if they waited for the books to be finished or dedicate the entire season to the night king battle, And then! Only then dedicate another season to end all of it properly... Most characters development throughout the years ruined in one short future episode. What the actual f-? The most disappointing season of the whole series. There is a petition to remake it all but I doubt it will happen (i'd really be glad if it did). Season started well, but after episode 1 it was just a free fall without a parachute. I feel bad for all the actors, engineers, artists and crew members who worked really really hard to deliver an astonishing thing visually, audio wise, fx wise and acting wise but which were ultimately went down the **** hole because of some stupid writers. The crew and actors deserve an 11/10 all day everyday (which is why this is a 1/10 and not a 0/10)... the **** writers? (negative) -10/10. [SEASON FINALE SPOILERS BELOW] Jon Snow, true heir and king to the Iron Throne, king in the north and king beyond the wall. That's how it should have ended. Either him on the throne or nobody.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bad dialoge and just forced family reunion scenes that were just awkward. The problems in the episode were all too forced and could have been solved by a marriage which would have prevented the whole drama but Expand

As a more casual viewer of the series, I was pleasantly surprised that this first episode didn't bog us down in heavy plot details. It brought the Stans and the casual observers together and laid a nice groundwork for the final season.
