Great segments in The North, dull inside and out of Mereen. I've read the books and I know the show has had to do some changes, many of them I've accepted and even praised. New ideas for different media. But what they did with Dorne is beyond embarrassing, a wasted opportunity and a big mistake not only for book readers, also as a TV script alone. Overall in the episode, some dialogue is poor and it feels the story relies only on the strength of each character. The best of it, is that you can feel there's a lot coming up and they are just setting up for a wild season. Let's hope they manage to do it the way they did in their best episodes. Expand

A few good scenes, but too many plot lines and some silly dialogue. One begins to wonder whether this show will come to a happy ending or go down the trail of Lost.

Game of Thrones started its 6th season, and the white walkers are still walking. Johns dead, and we knew that already. This series is starting to be like all the rest. Dragging the plot out as long as possible just to make more money. Only problem with that is...yes im bored, and tired of watching the same ole plot never ever working out. Time travel would be the only thing worse at this point.

In my opinion this is one of the most boring episodes in GoT, its just so slow, nothing happens, you can literally just skip this episode and you wont miss a thing.

    Nothing happens: The Episode
Incredibly boring, not even 40 minutes long (without recap), those stupid sand snakes can apparently teleport now, Mel is a thousand year old monster or something when she takes the neclace of (which she already did before and nothing happened)

Why bother watching the rest of this season

Please George finish the books so I can rest in peace

All the actors have aged about 3 decades since the first season, and as usual you won't even see them all in this episode. Bran and co. are completely absent, Arya does nothing but begin training to be a character archetype that is so stereotypical that there's a G.I. Joe made after it, still no sight of Lady Stoneheart which I guess they thought was too much more embarrassing than everything else. Ser Frankenstein is not present, Tommen is not present, Tyrion is thinking about turtles, Littlefinger doesn't exist, the Greyjoys don't exist, Davos and Melisandre have small talk, Sam doesn't exist, the white walkers don't exist, and Daenerys has about one scene.

With that said, go ahead and see if you can come up with a way to stretch a full episode out of what remains. That is what Weiss and Benioff did.

Awful show, at this point it just wallows in vulgarity and pointless violence and cringeworthy "Strong Wahmen" cliches. The writers really had no idea what to do once they lost the grounding of GRRM's writing and turned it into a pile of Hollywood stereotypes. Sad!

The entire season felt rushed, many battles were implied instead of shown(I'm guessing they ran out of money), an enormous amount of stuff felt like it was shoved in to surprise people but it just felt pathetic.

The mixup between murder porn scenes, which have reached an overload by this point, and much more reserved character scenes is abominable, you spend 20 minutes watching people getting murdered left and right and then you shift to samwell tarly and his awkward family reunions that don't even matter at all to the main storyline.

Besides the editing and time spent on characters vs time spent on axing people and things, good job on the return of forgotten characters like Osha, who honestly considering her screen time, really didn't need to come back, or pointless murders where the emotional element is completely absent.

I could count the number of ways in which this season was horrid, but I haven't got 500 000 characters, so let's just say this: it feels like a fanfiction. A really, really crappy fanfiction of GoT.

To illustrate, let me remind you of something and then spoil something new: In Season 1(or 2, or 3), when Cersei wanted to kill someone, she'd make sure for him to get too much to drink and get skewered by a boar, or she had them discreetly assassinated, poisoned, or better yet she maneuvered so her enemies would infight. The complexity of the intrigue was what made GoT exciting, fun and feel like a real cohesive world filled with tons of awesome characters.

Here, and this is spoilers, she literally shoves a regiment of wildfire caskets under the Great Sept, then blasts them with Tyrells, members of the small council, and the entire Faith Militant standing above, setting fire to a huge portion of the city, destroying the entire standing government, killing all the heirs of a great House, and essentially showing that she will go to any length of massacre to get away with her crimes. And you know the best? Right after committing arson, destruction of national monuments and mass slaughter, she crowns herself queen! How? On what legal basis? Apparently, the basis of having killed everyone else that could claim the throne or contest the claim in the city at that moment.

Spoilers end here, and I'm pretty sure that now, it's best for GoT to also end here. I have not seen a series this great fall this low in a long, long time, possibly ever. I sincerely hope that it ends quickly, because by now a generally awesome series is damaged completely beyond repair, and it was already bad in season 5.

Clearly, George. R. R. Martin`s masterpiece is ruined by the hand of Modern TV script writers. They are just not that into his WORLD!!!! Those screen writers just fills this show with so many modern T.V. gimmicks instead of taking GRRM`s colorful originality.

I might forgive it if it was some boring character but this is **** DORAN MARTELL.

Tywin Lannister was SCARED of this guy (in the books)! He is THE MASTER PLANNER - he gives Littlefinger a run for his money! You know how he can barely walk? Well what he does whole day, every day is think and plan!

There is a WHOLE story arch in the books concerning the DORNISH MASTER PLAN which is basicly (no spoilers cause the show ruined it now) a plan that allows the Dornish to take over the rule of the seven kingdoms WITHOUT A FIGHT - and Doran came up with the plan, over YEARS of planning and conceiving.

In the books he had the Sand snakes (the chicks that killed him and his son) thrown in jail RIGHT AWAY after Oberyn died cause he knew they would only cause trouble - he is **** SMART!

Seriously this is **** up beyond believe.

Doran isn't **** Joffrey, he isn't **** Ned Stark, he isn't Robert, he isn't Rob - He is **** Doran. What skill his brother Oberyn had in fighting he had in thinking - He knows your move before you even make it. While other people just play the game of thrones he is its master.

I can't believe they done this to him.

I never EVER had a problem with the show changing something up from the books - seriously never. I came into this season excited and the first episode killed that excitement and chopped up its body.

Doran's death was just a cheap atempt to get the viewers shocked about a new death - well guess what: if you don't give the character time to grow, no one gives a **** This failed absolutely miserably.

Ok with that **** out of the way what else is there?
    - Stannis' death is pointless (still alive in the books - though he lost the battle)
    - Bryane's and Podric's arrival EX MACHINA
    - all scene's with Ramsey and Roose Bolton are very good - better than decent dialogue with clever way to fit in exposition
    - same can be said about Cersai and Jayme scene
    - I don't understand how can Tyrion and Varis walk so casualy through Mereen, that is bull****. The sons of the Harpey are very well informed so they would know who Tyrion is - never mind the fact that everyone saw him in the Arena WITH THE QUEEN. Seriously they would get assasinated. (though you may argue the Sons were at work on the ships so maybe I could believe that)
    - Jorah's grey scale still bothers me. I don't know where are they going with it - maybe some heroic sacriface he'll make later for Daenerys and dies in the proces. BUT it will only make it absolutely WORTHLESS - he would die anyway so that way he'll just die sooner - he has nothing to loose. On the other hand if he would be completely healthy and died for Daenerys that would be a worthy heroic sacrifice.
    - There is no way no one would recognize the Khalissi of Khal Drogo, just no way (I mean they sold her to Drogo cause she was LIKE NO OTHER WOMAN)
    - I don't know what will they do with Arya. If they won't get the abillity to warg into animals soon this will be a steriotype training arch (BORING)
    - and lastly ser Alister gave Davos and the men who guard Jon time till nightfall and as Davos says the red woman is their only chance...AAAAND she is going to bed for the night....well bye guys, you're all ****.

Each episode this season has shocked me, thrilled me, made my heart bleed, changed the 'game' in drastic ways; and make me love and hate characters and love to hate characters and love to love characters all at once. Or love/hate them more. Or just hate. /Stare Ramsey. We thought Joffrey was bad? Seven hells.

I think the GoT and HBO teams have really got this season nailed down. The worst part of every episode is when the credits roll and another week of waiting begins. Unlike last season, the *major,* end-game storylines are coalescing at a rapid pace that was missing in parts of books 4 and 5 (and season 5), into something none of us can possibly predict. In other words, it's heading towards its conclusion. And given what we know and what we guess, it's going to be one hell of an ending, whether any of the fan theories are right or not (I try to stay away from fan book/show theories).

Spoilers start here. Don't tread further.
-The first episode served as most GoT (and any show's) first episode does, reestablishing where everyone is and what's happening with them. Despite this, it did a much better job over the Season 5 'character catch-up' because it didn't feel like a catch-up episode, but rather a continuation of the story in the last moments of Season 5-- they managed to catch us up while still having very significant things happen within the episode, things that felt organic while catching us up.
-Seeing the backstory with Lyanna and Ned is great. It's interesting that Ned has allowed a rumor about killing the Sword of the Morning. If you believe a popular theory (to which these flashbacks are leading up to)-- well, for one, we'll finally get an answer that was asked in season 1, episode 1; but also, we find that Ned's not quite as honorable as he seems if he let the rumor fly (though I may be forgetting a time he attempted to dispell the rumor?).
-Tyrion, in the dungeon with the dragons-- wow. Brilliant, and I can't wait to see where that relationship with Tyrion and the dragons is taken.
-The last moment of episode 2, while predictable, was also great. I like that they didn't just throw the answer at us immediately. I like that Mellisandra struggled with her faith and it had to be Davos to prod her to try what she didn't believe she could do.In her moment of struggling for faith, while we've already been told she's seen Jon in the Winterfell fighting. We silently root her on while we wait for her to agonize over whether to try the revival.
-Sealing Olly's fate was tragic when considering the arc of his story. Allister, while wrong, "died an honorable death" in the end.
-The end of episode 4 was nearly as powerful as the end of season 1 when her dragons emerged from the flames with her; and the scene certainly mirrored and paid tribute to that earlier scene, completely in the context of the Dothraki. What an amazing moment, 180, for a storyline that was starting to feel stagnant. In book and show, you begin to wonder just how competent Dany is once she's trying to juggle 3 kingdoms and make a plan for invading Westeros. But she once again showed us, like she did with the masters of the Unsullied, that she is unflinching, if calculated, on her road to what she believes is her fate (now with our favorite Little Person trailing along).
-But Dany, just wow. She killed the Khal, making her the new Khal; she killed every Khal in that tent, making her one of the most powerful Khals in known GoT history.
-From what I understood, Arya's scene to mean that going to the fountain will kill anyone (obviously) who drinks from it, but not kill someone who is "nobody". It begs the question: What if she'd been faking and was still Arya (she still has the buried sword, Needle, after all).
-In general: Wow. 4 unimpeachably amazing episodes in a row; not that ‪‎Game of Thrones‬ hasn't accomplished this before, but most of the best episodes are saved for last. Can't wait to see what that means for the rest of the season.

-Speculation: Is Shaggydog dead? We know Rickon's a little nutty; Ramsey mentions in the letter. Is this part of another Stark power we have yet to see?
Book Spoiler: Nymeria is confirmed alive
Conclusion: Anyone paying close enough attention knows that we're suddenly hurtling toward the conclusions of these several storylines that are about to collide.
-The Knights of the Vale (sworn to the Vale Prince Robin and now "uncle" Peter now reside) are finally doing something after an entire book series of doing almost literally nothing. Heading to the wall-- to what end, Peytr?
-Snow heading to Winterfell with Wildlings; Peter meets up on the
-Lannister/Barratheon/Tyrells working together, everything to soon collide.

Nothing is really wrong, per se, but just a little bit off. This whiff continues to grow with each episode since they introduced the Spain, sorry, Dorne timeline last season. No great monologues, witty insights, one liners - ok there are one liners, but that's all there seems to be these days. Gone are the days of spending 15 minutes with Jamie and Brienne in a sauna waxing lyrical on legacy.

Unfortunately, without Martin's books to quote directly from, the dialogue is cringe worthy at times. I am no expert, but I have seen seasons 1-3 about 5 times and the rest at least a couple. I also read the books (I admit I skimmed some points of views, but I got the gist) and noticed some dialogue was verbatim in the show.

I hope they sort out this cheesy dialogue problem and start allowing stories to breathe again, and relationships to build. They have killed off everyone I really liked, except of course Tyrion, so at least develop some interest in the remaining bozos. If they carry on like this soap opera, bouncing from on location to the next, I will honestly cry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall I enjoyed the season premiere. Certainly got the ball rolling and it's hard to judge the first episode on it's own merit without the rest of the season to give it context.

But, I am a little bit concerned with some of the dialogue - Cersei talking to Jaime was a great scene and felt like authentic GoT, but some of the lines in other scenes just stuck out like a sore thumb for me. Also, is it necessary for Jorah to check his wrist ever time he's on camera? Just makes the situation feel dragged out.

Despite those few criticisms, it's shaping up to be another interesting season, there was genuine sense of dread during the final scene and I can't wait to see what follows - hopefully the show is able to maintain the standard of previous seasons.

Not coherent anymore and with a lot of poor writings. The story is super fast compared to the earlier seasons , with super short episodes and, funny enough, with tons and tons of filler scenes. Seriously, that's the first season where i skipped 20% of the episodes just because they were outright insulting fillers. The worst season by now.

It seems they will keep dragging the plots like season 5.
I only saw the first episode and, after last season, I'll assume they will somehow extend plots that should take 4 episodes into 8 then give an episode full of action and then 1 or 2 more episodes to wrap thing ups.
If for some reason I keep watching and things don't develop this way I'll update this.

This season has all the good elements of Game of Thrones. However, Dorne is really badly written, but it's screen time is shrunk to almost a single episode. Also the series seems to have dropped realistic time flow.

Honestly, unless you're willing to put in the work and include and update aggregate reviews for each and every episode, than do not review TV show's seasons until they come to a conclusion!

Or hell, try this. Have a Metacritic aggregate score for each episode of a TV show. If that were the case, I would say that a 73 rating for Game of Thrones, Season 6, Episode 1 would be fair. It was a table-setting episode that was forced to address the many cliffhangers left at the end of Season 5, and thus felt rushed in places.

But the thing is that, since the first episode, Season 6 of Game of Thrones has been undoubtedly its best season yet. The pace has ramped up, major events are taking place in every episode, and the ending to the series is within sight. The characters and storylines that are secondary to the final conflict are being culled, and by Season 7 we should have White Walkers beyond the Wall, dragons in Westeros, and the city of King's Landing in ruins.

It is a travesty that a site as highly relied upon for critical response to media as Metacritic will have such a profoundly inaccurate score for this season of Game of Thrones, all because it's first episode was moderately worse than the rest of the season. A new system for reviewing TV seasons is needed, and is needed as soon as possible.

After a year of waiting again, this launch probably leaves the audience feeling empty and confused. After all, the "fate" of a character should mean something to the viewers, but attaching meaning takes time.. more than few minutes often. There is no time for the bonding/identifying effect to be born again between the characters and viewers in this episode, no time to develop the story... so it feels like nothing meaningful really happens.

"Less is more" approach could've worked better in the first episode. Maybe this series works better when it's completed and one can watch all the episodes in a row, without long breaks between episodes or seasons.

This season its a disgrace for the show and the books.it started from season 4 but now its even worse.the story follow irrational path and the actions that happens don't have real consequences. a great example is the dorne part. The paramour ellaria sand murders prince doran (beloved brother of her love) to avenge the death of her love(only because he dint share with her his plans) and after the murder no one call this treason and send them to death some "sands" murder the prince of their country and its all ok (hope they not call themselves queens/ princess and whatever else) . All this cause in the past season dorne dint go well in views (cause they butchered it) Many other thing happens like killing all the cgi wolfs fast without the right pacing . i rly loved the series until 3rd season, i tolerated 4 and 5 but i cant watch this anymore they go just for the shock value without the story behind it Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly this has been one of the strongest seasons of the show so far. It has been an emotional experience, and seeing all of this without prior knowledge from the books makes it all the more special. Episode 5 was one of the only times I have ever been devastated by a character, and it wasn't even a major character. This season has been FIRE compared o season 5 , and so far its on par with season 4 and 3 ( my favorites). EDIT: THE LAST TWO EPISODES WERE SOME OF THE BEST TV I'VE EVER SEEN. Holy cow the battle was amazing and the cinematography adn directing was so captivating. The finale was probably my favorite episode of the series due to the 20 minute lead in music and Lena Heady's amazing portrayal as Cersei. The BIG reveal happened and it was so very satisfying I teared up. These last two episodes paired with episode 5 "The Door" has catapulted this season was above season 5, and that's why this needs to be at something higher than a 73. You cannot as a reputable reviewer place a season's grade based off the first episode. This season was beyond amazing and I wouldn't be surprised if the show swept the Emmys like last year. I personally cannot wait until season 7, and I hope George RR Martin releases the next book soon so I can experience both of these amazing stories. Expand

The quality sure fell off quick though, and now in the 6th season it's just a bloodthirsty, degenerate cartoon with no point except to let nerds talk around the water cooler about who got killed off. Shame!

This season was especially notable for its weird sexual politics. They wrecked the best female characters by taking multifaceted and interesting women and insultingly turning them into one-note Mary Sues (Arya, Sansa, Brienne, and especially Daenerys) who spend all their time smirking and snarking at people. Dany especially does almost nothing but smirk through half-closed eyes in every scene she's in, it's pretty comical once you pay attention to it.

Meanwhile the male characters are all either defenseless cripples (Tyrion, Varys, Theon, Doran), servile bootlickers of women (Daario, Jon Snow, Littlefinger, Podrick, Grey Worm, Samwell), or both (Jorah, Jaime). Honestly the only likable guy on the show this season was Ramsay Bolton, since he actually seemed to be having fun and acting on his own volition. So the women are all trying to be men (with hilarious results) a bunch of the men literally have their balls cut off, and the only people who could find this mess entertaining are nerds who are very confused about human sexual dimorphism.

They should make spin-off shows about Bronn picking tavern fights and Margaery making power plays in the royal court with charm and guile, because everything else on this show sucks now.

The strength of this season is that it really sets up the endgame. All the pieces are coming together and the end is in sight. With some truly incredible moments, the always artful direction, big reveals, and many additions to the ever-growing body count, season 6 packs huge shocks and moments that will stand as some of the best this series has.

It won't be long until we see all these characters come together in some way. Season 6 makes that clear. It does so by delivering satisfying and emotional moments with it's 10 episodes. It's last two episodes in particular bring back that sense of shock and danger the first 4 had. It takes a bit, but once it gets going it doesn't stop. It keeps ramping up until it's conclusion and sets the bar for season 7 incredibly high. The wait will be almost unbearable. Especially given the promise that it will be even better than this one. Possibly even the best yet.

Regardless season 6 delivers. To make it matters evern more impressive it does so almost entirely without guidance from George R.R. Martin. Having moved past the novels, the show branches out into this new territory with a huge sense of confidence. You barely even notice they aren't following the novels anymore. I myself almost forgot when writing this review. Season 6 is just all around excellent. A step up from the admittedly disappointing season 5. This is no time to give up on Westeros. It's stories are still going strong.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is becoming so neat. Not neat in a good way, but neat in the sense that somehow everything magically ties together, and/or works out perfectly for the good guys. Benjen shows up again as blatant fanservice (just in the nick of time to save Bran, of course), Daenerys is suddenly able to control her uncontrollable dragon out of nowhere because the plot requires it, Sam steals a valuable sword without his controlling father or anyone else noticing, and earlier in the season we've had that terrible tent burning scene with Dany, Jon Snow coming back to life despite the fact that the logical conclusion to character arc should've been his death, Yara managing to steal a whole fleet because apparently no one on the entire Iron Islands was guarding it. Not to mention that characters are suddenly able to kill their own family members left and right without repercussion, as seen with Ramsay and the Sand Snakes. Didn't this use to be a grave offense, something that you couldn't just do? Isn't that why Joffrey, for instance, didn't just kill Tyrion, despite the fact he was the king?

I don't remember the earlier seasons breaking their own established rules to such a ridiculous extent. The reason they moved along so slowly was because characters couldn't just walk up to each other and kill each other without consequence, and the reason they felt tense and exciting was because you truly didn't know who would bite the bullet the next time. Does anyone honestly feel the least bit afraid for Dany, Jon Snow, Tyrion or Bran? You just know these guys will pull through and go on to do the most boring, heroic stuff you can imagine, probably in that huge 'final battle' that everyone keeps pining for, that shouldn't logically happen because GoT isn't (or at least didn't used to be) Lord of the Rings.

I could be wrong about all of this and the show could surprise me, but I'm not holding my breath.

After a rather lacklustre Season 5 I was excited but anxious heading into Season 5, and with a timidly but enjoyable enough first episode things weren’t looking great again. Luckily, despite trawling itself through mud at some points this season brings some of Game of Thrones most intense and memorable moments.
Characters in this season seem to progress in what they’re doing at a great pace, which is greatly appreciated considering last years plodding (Sad travelling Tyrion anyone?). Whilst Daenerys may still just be a narrow eyed public speaker most of the time, her story is more enjoyable. Arya’s storyline gets a little ludicrous but overall brings Arya back to the one we loved from before.
Whilst some twists and turns in this season may have been in plain sight before they happened they still haven’t lost their significance, and there are still plenty of twists you don’t fully see coming.
Season 6 has easily been the grandest in its spectacle, with stunning visuals, brutal violence, compelling character performances and moving music, Season 6 provides an incredible viewing experience. Episode 9 and 10 are an extreme achievement in TV history, with Miguel Sapochnik creating some stunning imagery and in episode 10 combining his shots with a intense score to create with of the best first 20 minutes to a TV episode ever.
If you can get around the fact that the storylines don’t happen at the same time (so that you understand people don’t teleport…) and get through a few blips in the script (ARRYYYAA) then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see one of the best season of Game of Thrones to date. Whilst I would not rate it above Season 4 or Season 1, I would put it about on level or just above Season 3.
A fascinating viewing experience almost non-stop, and a finale that you can actually feel more than happy with (Walking Dead, take some tips mate).

Battle Of The Bastards saw the truly epic battle between Jon and Ramsay's army which left viewers with the satisfying death of Ramsay Bolton who will go down as the best villain Game of Thrones ever had. Then we had the most recent episode Winds Of Winter.

Winds Of Winter is without a doubt the most jaw dropping and sensational hour of television i have ever witnessed. From the Wildfire killing everybody in the Sept of Baelor to the assassination of Walder Frey it was pretty hard to pick what made this episode so special. We also got to see something that fans have been asking for since the show first started. Is R+L=J true? Well, i can happily confirm that this is true and that we finally know that Jon is a Targaryen.

The scene that confirms this is so emotionally exhausting as people have been waiting for years to see if this was true and the payoff was incredible.

Overall, season 6 is without a doubt one of my favourite seasons on this show as it is both powerful in writing and beautiful in visuals.

Jon Snow's resurrection was SO PREDICTABLE... in addition, I don't like the character because I think he has no charisma. He seems to be passive.
Tyrion is my favourite character, but for the moment, the scenes where he appears aren't very thrilling. But I'm sure he's preparing something, so let's wait ! The most interesting scenes are Bran's. We know more about Hodor.
As far as the music is concerned, it's very entertaining and it highlights the suspense. It's very touching too, especially during Hodor's very last scene. I didn't cry, but I was so gutted !
To sum up, for the moment, the scenes are a little bit slow, but I'm waiting for more actions, and more funny quotes by Tyrion and Circei ;-)

Its not perfect however, the dialogue while good is not as sharp as we're used to seeing but that's to be expected as we're now almost fully liberated from George's material (while George has years to write the books the writers only have a few months to pen a script), the sand snakes also still look like they belong in another show and the show also seems to be forgetting the strong anti-war message in the books by its over glorification of violence.
But to conclude, overall its been excellent and its Game of Thrones seems to be back to its very best, its miles ahead of season 5 and it still has the potential to be the best season yet.

However in the past 2 seasons i have noticed a decline in the quality, and the entire feel of the show. It feels like a simplified version of what should've happened with predictable story telling, and quick and random character "developments". I mean season 6 was with no doubt better than season 5, but i can't help but get angry at the writers when they are given this huge world that has many colorful characters that can really make the show feel much more grand, but instead choose to go with the quick CW-esc way out of things. The final two episodes saved the season for me i guess, even though it has it's own problems. The season was overall just good, i felt like i only cared for the Sansa and Jon/ King's Landing/ Bran story lines this entire season. I absolutely can't stand Denaerys's story line, nor her character, and what pisses me off the most is when we can finally have moments that might interest me like a bigger civil war fight with the whole masters thing going on the entire season...instead we just skip it with a single shot of the Dothraki riding in, and a few shots of the dragons burning a ship. We could of had moments like Dany sailing out of Mereen/ Dany passing through Valyria/ Dany reaching Dorne/ Dany talking to Olenna and Elaria and making a pact/ Olenna going to Highgarden to rally the Tyrell fleet from whoever is ruling Highgarden right now, instead of ALL OF THAT, we just skip it all (in the same episode i may add) and just show Dany on a ship sailing with dornish and tyrell ships from Dorne to king's landing. Like that could've been a season's worth of material at most, but they skip all of that cause dan and dave are so full of themselves and are so eager to finish this show in 13 episodes... and that just proves on why the decline of the show's quality is happening, and that also shows how Dan and Dave clearly need G.R.R.M to help them through this massive story, and it's undeniably obvious that they needed him this season. I'm done with my review but I just want to make this clear, since Dany is already in Westeros that means MONTHS have passed in the story, and if Dany managed to move continents in that period of time, i will audibly shout at the screen if I see Bran still trying to get to Winterfell in the next episode. That would be just cheap ass writing at it's very best. Expand

Yet another amazing start for the season.. can't wait for more to come. Every single storyline this season has been amazing. All of the actors have given them there all and it's promises to be the best season yet. David and Dan are great talents, who managed to turn the very slow book to an amazing addaption. I am actually concinced that the show is better than the books now.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having read the books, it's impossible not to be disappointed, the show has been great for the first 4 seasons, some times even improved on some of the material the books gave us, but last season was a complete mess and this episode makes me believe season 6 won't be much better. The 1st episode was, for the most of it, really slow, the complete destruction of the Dorne plotline and the subversion of its characters was outrageous, Daenerys' destiny is much different from what the 5th book makes us believe will be. There she shows up in front of the Dothrakis as a champion, here she's nothing but a slave... the quantity of stuff they just outright removed from the books is appalling.
The only reason I won't give a 0 to this episode is the final scene. Even though it's not present in the books, nothing there contradicts its possibility and it was a nice tweak, although I thin there was no necessity for the character to get fully undressed in the cold winter of the wall just for the sake of shocking the audience...
Waiting to see how the show will approach the iron islands and old town plotline, but I'll keep my hopes low.

How they set everything up for the season was very well done. Even what will happen with Dorn seems somewhat promising now. I really don't know what the big fuss is with The Games Of Thrones. It is a very average show with a couple of exciting moments in the whole series after 6 seasons. Still got nothing on Breaking Bad. That was a roller coaster of a show, unlike this show. Lots of boring episodes throughout 6 seasons. Thank god there is only ten episodes per season.

I won't divulge any spoilers but I must say that there are some VERY good episodes toward the later part of this season and includes, in my mind, the best final two episodes in the show's history that brilliantly set up next year's seventh season. The thing you'll need to be keen on is lineages and nuance as the story unfolds. I nearly missed very important bits of information in the final two episodes because I've been watching this show as it has come out. With all that has gone on and the show's lack of reinforcing back-stories, I had to rewatch and investigate what was significant about certain parts of the show, only to realize that there are some major plot thickening moments. I'm very excited for GoT going into season 7. That doesn't happen without a good season 6. If you've been begging for action, you'll get your fill. If you're begging for the seemingly random vantage points to narrow in focus, you'll also get your chance (though you see that more as a foreshadowing than actual story progression in this season). I enjoyed these 10 episodes more than the last (season 5) and think that most people will agree that have been following along with the series. If you're tired of it all... there's not a lot that can be done to sway your mind. HOWEVER, those that rated the entire season months before the June 26, 2016 finale graded with only a smaller fraction of the episodes being available and cannot speak to the entirety of the season. Don't be fooled by those that can't exercise their patience and see the bigger picture unfold episode by episode. Yes, I have read the books and seen all episodes to date. More than previous seasons, the show is finally able to shake off book comparisons and strike out on its own -- they know where it ends and are happy to fill in the blanks as they see fit. Fatigue is also an issue. We have all become accustomed to sudden, unexpected deaths, treacherous plotting and the general bleak, grittiness of the universe by now, stretched over several years -- it's hard to sustain.

Season six so far struggles to seed multiple story branches with enough weight to justify a forthcoming, inevitable intersection of characters and plots. It appears to be converging, but I reserve judgment. As a result there have been multiple montages already, shorter time with certain locations, a coincidental change in rulership across multiple kingdoms and less character development. It feels more "manufactured" than I remember; the weight of fan expectation taking a toll.

There is a lot to juggle, and it's hard to know how it could better balance the various elements while continuing to deliver the unexpected. My understanding is, each episode currently sits at $10 million plus to make, so it is an expensive and stressful gamble that hopefully pays off for the majority of us.

I will continue to watch -- it is still compelling viewing.
