It's not easy adapting sprawling fantasy books into a TV series, but HBO has done it beautifully with "Game of Thrones." It's consistently been the most entertaining show on television for four seasons, and now that the showrunners are breaking new stories, I can't wait to see where it goes next.

The last three episodes of this season truly save it. Building up to the ending of season five, however, the show becomes really slow paced and meandering. There is also ONE STORYLINE (which I shall not name for spoiler reasons) that is completely stupid and does nothing, and completely bastardizes the books.

This is was a beautiful season for the series. It took of brilliantly and ended me in shock. It ended in rage. And it ended in what people love game of thrones for " it's surprisingly unexpected deaths" which is the reason game of thrones is so damn original and watch worthy. Especially season 5

What should i say, of course, it is Game of Thrones, so there were no chance it would be boring.
I am absolutely surprised how good the first episode was.
The Tempo is pretty slow so far, but GoT Fans shouldnt have a Problem with this.

Very good start (as usual a bit slow) of the fifth season that is the turning point for the most of the series characters. Direction, writing, acting and music are on very high level as usual. I must say that I waited too long for this excelent show to begin, it's a pure pleasure to watch this sublime show!

What a debut for a once again amazing new season. It picks up where it left us on season 4, and it was a joy seeing the characters after a long and boring wait. For fans, no need to talk much because they know what's waiting for them, and they definitely won't be disappointed. And Daenerys Targaryen, I love you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As the show is now going on a different direction from its source material, the fifth season of Game of Thrones is still entertaining to watch. Although, there were a couple of things from this season that are quite flawed.

    Rating: 8.5/10

    Pros:
+Daenerys and Tyrion meeting each other in the flesh is the best thing to come out from this season.
+While it is slow, it's nice to see Arya in the backseat a litle while still managing to be a kickas character this season.
+This season is quite heavy on the Night's Watch vs. The Wildings vs. The Night Walkers which is a good thing as this peaked Jon Snow's character development.
+We get to see The White Walkers in full action. My god, **** is going down.

    Neutral:
.I have mixed feelings on how the show executed the world of Drone. I liked it but it would have done better if the show went with the book's direction.
.I also have mixed feelings on the Cersei's plot arc this season. While the character development for Cersei is solid, I can't help but think Cersei's decision to have the ISIS-like group to rule over Westeros came from flawed logic.

    Cons:
-The entire Jaime plot arc this season camed from a very flawed logic and only caused more unnecessary drama.
-The Sand Snakes had great potential to be kickass female characters. Unfortunately, they became very bland "ARGH I AM STRONG AND A WOMAN" one dimensional characters that lacked depth.
-The writers direction with continuing Sansa as a victim instead of her having a strong character development irritates me. I thought we were promised a more manipulative Sansa but alas, we see Sansa getting more **** than she deserves.

Favorite Episodes (ranked from most favorite to least favorite):
    Hardhome (E08)
The Dance of the Dragons (E09)
    Mother’s Mercy (E10)
    The Wars to Come (E01)
The House of Black and White (E02)

Right it is a great show, an amazing show, but the deviations from the book are really starting to hurt it. Where are the Ironborn? where is the Kingsmoot? Why did they do so very little with the Dorne storyline? The missing characters, so much they could of done.
Still great for what it is, but it could of been much better.

Even characters who's stories I thought were getting a bit boring (Jon Snow and Daenerys) are now some of the most exciting! My only complaint might be that there's not enough Tyrion, because I need the Dinklage! But that is easily coated over with great intrigue on what will happen next with everything from King's Landing to Meereen and even Winterfell (also the fact that there is no Bran and very little Theon makes this season a plus too!) This season has the makings to surpass the last four, although in my mind it will have to take something big to beat season 4. The fifth season has slowed things down a bit. At least as far as these first three episodes are concerned. Things aren't happening at the rapid fire pace of the last seasons. Plotlines have been stretched out for quite a few episodes, which can lead to this season feeling like it's kind of dragging things out.

However none of that changes the fact that the writing is still fantastic.

However none of that changes the fact that the writing is still fantastic. Even in it's slowest moments Game of Thrones is still compelling. The fleshed out characters, immaculate bits of dialog, and growth of the world with new characters and factions keep the show on top. It's also still not afraid to kill off some characters.

These first three episodes have established it as the slowest season thus far, but the shear high-quality of it means that it's not a bad thing. Game of Thrones is still mesmerizing even in it's slower moments and the promise of big things to come in the later episodes keeps me invested. It's one of, if not the, best shows out there right now. As always it's an absolute must watch.

Well season 5 of Game of Thrones has come to a end and I'm just going to say it, this is my least favorite season. You may disagree with me on this one, but I haven't seen anyone saying that this they favorite season, well must of the people are saying that this is they least favorite one and they die hard fans of the show and so I'm I. These a lot of good and some flaws in this season.

All the cast in the show all do fantastic as always. It's a big cast and me naming them off will take forever, but once again the biggest stand out was Tyrion Lannister played by Peter Dinklage and Jon Snow played by Kit Harington. Every since the beginning of the show they been impressing me with they outstanding performance's. Both of them are my favorite character's, until last nights episode when one of them got killed and if you seen the final episode of season 5 you will know what I mean. But anywhere all the cast did great.

The best episode of season 5 and probably the whole season is the episode called Hardhome, Oh my god this episode was both intense and terrifying. The episode was nightmare worthy and freaked me out, I mean winter has came and it was scary as hell. And the episode has a scene with Tyrion and Daenery and they scene was my favorite between the two, I mean Tyrion putting some sense into her head is probably the best thing I've seen this season, because I was starting to hate Daenery a bit for everything she's done and how much of a terrible leader she is. I'm happy that Tyrion is there to tell her how you should do it.

But this season has in my opinion the weakest episode in the whole season and that was Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken. I know some people hated that episode as well just because of that rape scene and I hear a lot of defending it by saying stupid things like: "Oh these been rape, beheading, people being cut in half and being burned alive in the past season's, but this is the episode where every lose they sh*t. It's fictional, it's not real, get over it". Okay let me just tell you this, to those who are defending the rape scene and saying get over you sound like a real ass hat for saying stupid sh*t like that, I mean get over it? rape isn't something to get over it, even it's frictional rape is still effective. Yes they was rape that happened before in the past seasons but that as well almost stopped me from watching it by watching the first episode of the first season. Now that's not the only thing why I think that episode was poor was because it was boring, dull and nothing special at all.

Now overall I still think that is a good solid season, just not the best compared to the others.

Seasons 3 and 4 of "Game of Thrones" were such televisual powerhouses that I can't resist feeling as though season 5 is a step down. Whilst certainly not lacking in the gore, visual panache and terrific performances that have rightly made this show so popular, this season has been damaged by some pacing issues that have upset its flow, particularly when compared to the two immediately before it. Some of the show's most interesting characters spent too long with nothing to do in this season - Arya, Jaime and Tyrion, in particular, did not get treatments nearly as electrifying as they have had in seasons past.

Nonetheless, "Game of Thrones" is still one of the most satisfying shows on television and from a technical standpoint, is unrivalled - its elaborate set pieces are rendered with a skill and attention to detail that is nothing short of breathtaking. And whilst I complain that season 5 overall has not matched the brilliance of seasons 3 and 4, fans - myself included - were still given more than their fair share of jaw-dropping moments. This season's finale in particular is television's most devastating hour since "Ozymandias" of "Breaking Bad." That said, these moments were so far spaced out (the bulk of them delivered in the final three episodes which were admittedly a stunning conclusion), it felt as though this season had a disproportionate amount of filler moments. And when the main course is so meaty, it becomes all the more noticeable when the filler isn't so filling.

So, Season 5 is a great season that any TV Series wish to have, but it's not as amazing as Season 4.

HBO has created a series that has my full attention. HBO`s interpretation of the relationships that R.R. Martin has created in his novels is noteworthy. Not only am I captivated by the fantasy aspect of the series, but its display of the things that bind us, love and hate and all the things in between. I look forward to the next episode.

She needed to be the one protected through all this. It made my blood boil. While I am watching these episodes, nothing else matters. House cold burn down around me as long as I get to watch Game of Thrones. It has been way too long for a show to come along that captivates like this one does, Hard to wait for the next episode. The show is still going strong, and several characters meeting who haven't met before has shaken things up. The production values remain as superlative as ever, including the new Dornish lands.

The Dornish, though, are this season's weak point. There just isn't enough time for them to make an impact, and when the Sand Snakes are finally put to the test, they were embarrassingly campy.

Every time one of them speaks, Oberyn rolls over in his grave. I haven't read the books, but I hope they die or get shipped off somewhere sometime soon.

The stronger performers though, the ones whose characters are still alive, are still knocking it out of the park, and the show has finally begun to emphasize its religious element through the compelling High Sparrow character. There are still enough existing characters that there just isn't enough time for all of them. I guess the show needs another massacre, but that's the GoT way. It'll be worth watching when it comes.

As I've said before, this is not the show's merit, but rather the books' - and, to be fair, the willingness of the producers to respect the source material.

Season 5 was not as exciting as, say, the first three, but still more captivating than the fourth, and it really feels like something big is going to happen next - if and only if season 6 will be following book 6, which isn't out yet.

Stannis's out of character moment burning his daughter (as a book reader, I had to cringe there). There were still good things. The Battle of Hardhome alone brings my opinion of this season up. Dany and Tyrion meeting was gold, and Cersei's plot was very well done. I am sticking around, but I pray to the Seven Gods that next season is much better. Expand

The lead acting performances from Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie, Iwan Rheon, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, Natalie Dormer, and Alfie Allen were excellent and the supporting performances from Jerome Flynn, Tom Wlaschiha, Conleth Hill, Stephen Dillane, John Bradley, Diana Rigg, Aidan Gillen, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Hannah Murray, Daniel Portman, Ian Whyte, Nathalie Emmanuel, Iain Glen, Tara Fitzgerald, Jonathan Pryce, and Indira Varma were fantastic. The fighting and battle scenes were awesome especially the battle in the Daznak Pit between the Unsullied and Drogon against the Sons of the Harpy, the battle between the Wildlings against the Wight's, the battle between the Sons of the Harpy against the Unsullied, the fight between Jorah against the other fighters in the Daznak Pit, and the fight between Jaime and Bron against the Dorne soldiers. The visual effects were outstanding this season especially Daenerys riding on Drogon, Drogon the Dragon, and the Skeleton Wights and the undead. The makeup effects were terrific especially the Night King, the undead people, the White Walkers, and Wun Wun the Giant. The props, costumes, and accessories were splendid especially all of the weapons used (especially Jon Snows sword Longclaw), all of Emilia Clarke's outfits, and Daenerys silver Dragon necklace. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Thus far Game of Thrones has done a great job of fleshing out such a huge cast of characters but, for arguably the first time in the shows run, this fifth season started to show a few cracks. It still mostly made for a great watch, and you won't find anything like the white walker attack on the wilding camp in other series, but there were too many story-lines that just seemed to go nowhere (Including almost everything that happens in Dorne) and scenes such as Ramsay's attack on Sansa seemed unnecessary.

Season six will be the first time in which the show has moved ahead of the books so it'll be interesting to see what effect that has. With the end game now in sight however (rumours suggest there will be just 3 more seasons) I'm hopeful the writers will stop spinning their wheels and move events forward at a better pace.

But on the other hand, new developments make the big few characters who have been in the limelight for the previous seasons get into some very interesting scenarios and their stories progress with decent enough pace to keep you hooked to this season as well.
This season particularly had some hilariously bad fight sequences as well as some great ones, some truly boring characters and the big few carrying the season on their shoulders.

Although this season may be the weakest of the five seasons, perhaps second only to the first it still is worth checking out as both the show's (arguably) worst and best episodes are in this season. And as always, I can't wait for the next season!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the most redeeming qualities of Game of Thrones over the seasons has been the fact that plenty of major characters, good and bad, have come and gone. You can never be quite sure just who will bite off more than they can chew and pay the price.
As you may recall, several major characters found themselves six feet under after season four, including King Joffrey and the mighty Tywin Lannister himself. While this made season four one of the most memorable series, it does have an effect in the quality and interest of some of the plot lines in series five.
With some of the show's most notable faces gone, it's not until the final few episodes of the season that things really get going, which is a little frustrating.
Most notably, storylines such as Bronn and Jamie's trip to Dorne to rescue Myrcella and Arya's training at the House of Black and White provide precious little excitement and crawl along too slowly until the latter episodes. The final three or four episodes are however highly eventful and among the best Game of Thrones episodes we've seen so far. The threat of the white walkers rears it's head in epic style in the battle of Hardome, notable faces in Kings Landing are imprisoned for past sins, and things really kick off in Mereen with Daenerys and her Dragons. All of this is excellently well filmed and staged as well.
However, while some of the show's biggest faces are still around; Jon Snow at Castle Black, Cersei Lannister, Daenerys, Sansa, Ramsay Bolton, to name but a few; You can't help but feel that overall, something might be missing, and that this is something of a transitional series for the show. But after viewing the final few episodes, I'm convinced that next series will be something special.

With other great television shows, I find myself watching them as they (eventually) air on streaming services like HBO Go, Amazon Prime and Netfix. But GoT surpasses these other great shows in the sense that instead of being "Must See TV," it is rather "Can't Miss TV." It is a show that demands to be watched on Sundays at 9, come Hell or high water.
That said, Season 5 had a couple of key failures. The first and foremost being the Jaime Lannister story arc. In seasons 3 and 4 Jaime had one of the most compelling stories on the show, suffering imprisonment, manufacturing a daring escape only to be captured again, rendering a gut wrenching confessional to Catlyn, then, eventually, undergoing horrible maiming. His story was so compelling, the show seemed to feel bullied by it (or rather, by their audience,) and ham-fist-edly insterted Jaime into a new story arc that was seemingly lacking in both character motivation and logic.
The second failing, for me, came with Arya Stark's training in Bravos. For those who haven't read the books (that's a substantial number of viewers) the show was rather sparse in describing exactly what was going on. The mystery of it all was fine, for a while, but after some time I felt myself craving more backstory, more mythopoeia, more ANYTHING to help sparse out what in God's name Arya was doing with the faceless men. I understood the intention of building a mysterious "sense" around what she was doing, but too much of it eventually yields a diminishing return, and viewers start to kind of check out. Eventually the root of her training is revealed, but at that point the long and drawn out story had already left me dull to the ending.
These faults aside, the show was just as spectacular as ever. The acting was superb, the direction top notch, the stories expansive and interesting. I wish I could overlook these shortcomings and give GoT the 10/10 I desperately want to give it, but the fact of the matter is GoT is only ten episodes long. This means a single "dud" episode can leave a bad taste in your mouth, and two bad episodes can almost ruin the experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Winter is really coming!

Parts of this fifth season seem at least a trifle overwrought, and a few recurrent issues with contrivances tend not to resonate very well. The Jon Snow journey was great, seeing him grinding his way in the watch, he having tough decisions to make, we going with him in his point of view, having a lot of trouble, going against all of his brothers, that was a rough thing, the whole watchers moments in this season really got me very interested, that was really to see, some turn around points that really got me into what was happening.
The Dorne Moments were horrible, the whole Dorne parts felt completely out of place, it was a not necessary thing at all, it comes from nowhere and leave us in nowhere, everything about what happened in that place was not interesting, maybe in next seasons that will have some importance but at this very moment, it was really bad.
Arya Stark really got me very interested in her journey more each episode, the things that she was doing there was able to make me theorize there.
The religious thing in King's Landing at the beggining wasn't interesting at all, i didn't got the logistics of that, somethings didn't felt right, but the conclusion with Cersei were really good.
The Winterfell moments also was breathtaking, completely unpredictable, and in a lot of moments scary, Theon and Sansa always had me interested there, because i always believe that one could change the other in some way.
Lena Headey did a different job in this season with Cersei, she now had to pretend somethings, pretend to care, and be a big fake, i think she did it perfectly, her character in this season had a nice journey wich can have a big impact in the sequences, she being taken down and being in a situation that she most likely never was was a big moment, and Lena delivered it well. Kit Harington had his best season so far, he could make we goo with him in his journey and also have his doubts together. Peter Dinklage have a little less time here, in relation to other seasons, but when he get to talk with Daenerys he really showed off, and every time that he speaks, he convinces, very good. Emilia Clarke didn't changed much, had some interesting things, bad choices, and questionable situations, she didn't sold me very well, but it was at least ok. Maisie Williams had a nice arc, she had some emotional moments that i trully bought, her story is one of the most got me interested in. Sophie Turner is once again a hostage, and i could feel her sadness and also her need to do something, i bought that concern and need. Stephen Dillane as Stannis Baratheon, did a good job during the whole series, his character has alaways been cold and manipulated, in this season he had some very nice moments, moments that gave him more structure, a nice back story, i believe he was pretty good. Ian McElhinney was a great warrior in the whole show, a old man that made me believe that he was able to knock almost anyone. Iwan Rheon as Ramsay once again killed in it, he was crazy, just like that, a mad princess, he made me completely uncomfortable in every scene that he was in, he was that dangerous calm persons, he had different layers in speaking and voice tones, even in the way that he look to others, he did a great job. Peter Vaughan was a pretty good character as well, his tone of voice was on point. Kerry Ingram was good as well here, she reading her stories and getting so excited about that, i could really see myself in her at some moments.
The fight coreography still not very good, it feels really simple and i believe that it is damn time to change it. The big battles are nice to watch, but the one x one combat still is beyond simple.
The cinematography here is very pretty, now that the winter is more strong in some places, they had some nice shots, and in my opinion most beautiful moments, a misencene more complete and full.
The cgi of the dragons are great, the details are very well done. But there were some cgi moments that i didn't bought at all, it was really bad and surely tooked me out of the episode, the green screen was easily noticiable, and that did bothered me.
This is definely the worst season of this show, but even with that the eventuality of the story, the layers of the characters make things to be better than most of the others.

The fifth season is probably my least favourite season so far, as it is not as consistent as the first four. That being said, it still delivers plenty of intrigue and I cannot wait for what's to come.

Expand

Excellent and surprising finale. Something that nobody would have imagined it, specially the death of one of our favorite characters. I assume a large part of our audience will hate that. Anyways, the surprise element seems to be the most common technique for the whole series. The fifth season shows how events radically change, how different Westeros has become since the death of Tywin Lannister. The development of the story throughout this season is very well done, and definitely keeps the audience wanting to know more. Despite some inaccuracies (filled with some current mainstream political messages) if one compares them to the book, the story is excellent and entertaining. Definitely the best season of the series after the fourth one. Let's see what surprises the next season brings us. Expand

I do not agree with those who say that the decline of Game of Thrones starts from the fifth season, as from the next. However, this season has no flaws and, on the contrary, ends with a sensational cliffhanger that I remember at the time left the audience desperate and gave birth to many conspiracy theories. When a show reaches this level, it's just perfect.

In the four episodes provided for preview, the action seldom lags, but just when we think we’re in for a fun ride this season, something darkens the sun.

Everything that was always good about Game of Thrones is still good. The ensemble cast remains one of TV's richest, from top to bottom, and even actors who seemed weak in the past (like Sophie Turner, who plays increasingly embittered Sansa Stark) continue to rise to the level of much better material.
