    Matt Groening puts his 'toons in space for FUTURAMA, a solid, comedic blend of THE SIMPSONS and STAR TREK. Matt Groening himself being the brilliant creator of THE SIMPSONS, this is somewhat original, but it's a little odd seeing a one-eyed alien, a robot, and a normal-looking crewmate make double entendres. I prefer seeing humans doing that, personally, but Matt Groening, with theMatt Groening puts his 'toons in space for FUTURAMA, a solid, comedic blend of THE SIMPSONS and STAR TREK. I prefer seeing humans doing that, personally, but Matt Groening, with the preposterous, twisted mind of his, seemed to think otherwise. 'Nuff said.     this show is medi ocre and kinda crappy it does not make it to being as funny as American dad family guy the simpsons archer and aqua teen hunger force it is not by a long shot as funny as the simpsons

    The hyperpositive reviews say enough, this is overrated. The only funny character is Bender. Yes, Family Guy might not be so sophisticated, but at least it provides us with a good laugh. Futurama fails to do so and doesn't contain a good message (like south park) either, so it's basicly nothing.

    In general, I just find this show boring, but it's 'watchable'.

    It is not the greatest half-hour pilot I've ever seen, but it is mighty impressive in how much storytelling it compresses and how many cultural buttons it manages to push in 22 minutes. [26 Mar 1999]
