This show is like an Indie movie; a long slow boring, aimless indie movie. It's really not about much of anything and not in a good Seinfeld. I don't know if it's trying to be about aimless men in middle age, the struggles of dependency or how to get free coffee. The main character is supposed to be angsty and aimless but a big reveal later in the series negates a lot of that. His buddy is equally as annoying and aimless. The show itself is so confused and aimless that it happily resolves a major plotline in one episode and then resurrects it with a completely different ending in the next episode.

I genuginely didn't understand the point of this hot mess.

Here is my take on Flaked. In the beginning it seemed and looked as tho Will had finally gotten casts for a great well written miniseries, not until the maybe episode 5 6 that I realized i was actually watching the washed down poor mans version of Californication. I still finished the season.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved Will Arnett in Arrested Development but I could not reach the end of Ep.1 of Flaked: what little humour there was was predictable and slightly grating.
More annoying was that every woman who lays eyes on "Chip" is apparrently instantly, shamelessly smitten - I'd had enough when "London" appeared and started drooling too.

Beside cast and location (Who doesn't love Venice?), everything seems like lame sitcom from the 90s. It's not as bad as people rating it, but it's worse than you can hope, even if you're Will Arnett's fan.

I'm having trouble understanding people's burning hatred of this show. I've read a lot of reviews where people just despise the fact it's centered around white men. It pains me to give it a luke warm review because I'd rather go against the grain of all these hot heads who don't really understand the concept. At it's core, Flaked is about dealing with all types of failure. It actually picks up Bojack Horseman's baton and people couldn't get enough of that show. The trouble is, it lacks intensity. It's clever writing. It just never pops. Expand

Flaked, created by Arnett and Mark Chappell, is just another exasperating exploration of stunted white male adulthood.

It's a leaden, soggy mess, that only gets messier as it goes.

[Netflix's Love] at least felt fresh and directed in the way it surgically examined the tropes of the romantic comedy. It was a character study that had a purpose, explaining through its run why we were watching these characters to begin with. Flaked never answers that question.
