Fear of the Walking Dead is, at times, decidedly schlocky, but this time around, there’s a welcome emphasis on fleshing out the motivations and convictions of a new cast of characters who could become potential adversaries down the line.

Episodes 2 and 3 are an encouraging start, and the new setting has promise, with plenty of possible character dynamics to explore. If you’re just here for zombies to leap out of the darkness and get their brains bashed in as graphically as possible, there’s plenty of that, too. Provided you’re not exhausted by the franchise at this point, you could do worse.

The [season premiere] episode's plot feels like a Negan karaoke session, with a smirkishly predatory new antagonist (Daniel Sharman) holding the main characters captive. Things pick up in future episodes, as Fear's family joins a prepper community. [2/9 Jun 2017, p.96]

Continuity/Plot holes, lack of coherency, and basic scientific inaccuracies still plague this show. When convienence and soapish drama are the primary tools used, the episodes are just wasted opportunities. The hand-held footage and jiggly-cam to "enhance" action sequences are juevenile and nauseating. The worst offense is the decision to have a mid-season finale that was criminally boring, that did nothing to make us impatient for the second half. Full Review »

Definitely the best season thus far. The show is finally at the point within the apocalypse where it is actually worth watching. Not as goodDefinitely the best season thus far. The show is finally at the point within the apocalypse where it is actually worth watching. Not as good as The Walking Dead, but definitely good enough to hold me over until The Walking Dead starts back up again. Full Review »
