Then Season 7. Seriously, this killed it for me.

I could barely muster 2 episodes a night (sometimes, skipping entirely or just watching 1 episode). The acting, the writing, even the darn Dead are well... bad and at times so painful to watch you feel embarrassed/ashamed/uninterested yourself.

After watching the final episode of the season, I decided this is where I am going to call it quits. For a show that started off with great potential, this is a huge let down.

I can only imagine how truly bad Season 8 will be though I have no plans to experience it.

Fear The Walking Dead may start out slow, but the start of this series does well representing the early horror of this pre-established universe, with some iconic performances from many of its leads.

The cast is quite good since the production value was higher than when first TWD was made - we don't see any Carls or Shanes whose performances make your eyes bleed and make Kristen Stewart seem like an Oscar winner.

The pilot episode is not promising, but it just gets better and better by the end of the first season. Most reviewers here saw the first episode (probably not even in its entirety) and thought "where is Rick, what is this, I miss Carl" and proceeded to bash the show for that reason. In reality, the production quality, filming, writing, even audio - modern, engaging, deep storytelling - something the original series never achieved. The fear is palpable, not just from these scary dead people, but also from the authorities which are themselves scared, their motives unknown, creating a widespread sense of insecurity and uncertainty. The show tries to decentralise the characters, so you don't know which one might die next - unlike Rick, whose life was known to surpass the 8 seasons without even watching beyond the pilot episode.

I am unsure if the show continues to positively surprise into the second season since the initial apocalypse time frame will come to an end, bringing a monotone existence of scavenging-sleeping-scavenging or training-sleeping-fleeing we see throughout the seasons of the original series, which often had you forget about the walkers, and worry more about the soap opera drama with a regular mishap leading to a character's death now and then. And of course the ridiculous conflicts with other groups that are always so unrealistically hostile.

I expect the same to happen with Fear TWD, maybe even beginning with season 2, but I hope they managed to bring a new flavour to the same rinse-repeat story that we see from the 3rd to the last season of the original show.

I am a fan of the original show, but the truth is the show is quite mediocre and the only thing that kept it interesting is the post-zombie-apocalypse premise, since the writing is predictable and poor, while the cast is mostly not talented, to say the least. You'd just wait for a thriller scene when someone dies, while the rest was unsuccessful and boring "character building". FTWD has a chance to utilise the premise and revitalise the idea.

This is a show that starts off slow and shows a whole lot of promise, but isn’t able to deliver much in the first season. The characters are somewhat likeable and the show never really feels bad, but it never feels good either. It’s a show that makes you want to keep watching it, particularly if you are a fan of The Walking Dead like me, but is far from addicting.

The character development was abysmal and the acting was pretty poor by some of the actors taking the immersion factor away completely. The walkers themselves even seemed a little off, perhaps being so early in the infection time it is too early to judge. However it is interesting as a fan of the original series to see what was happening when Rick went into a coma, before the outbreak and seeing the chaos and turmoil the characters had to face. If you're a fan of the walking dead I'd say try it, see if you like it, if not, then don't bother with the rest of the season. I wouldn't recommend this however if you are not a fan and would say watch the walking dead for a much better overall experience in this universe. Expand

Although the story line has gotten better, they film so much at night and the poor film quality is so dark, you can't see anything that is going on. I gave up trying to figure out what is happening. At least the Walking Dead has more shot during the day so you can actually watch the show.

Huge fan of TWD. Fear The Walking Dead is garbage. Bad acting, bad story, bad pacing, bad directing, boring cinematography. There is nothing of any value here. This show is an insult to TWD and is doing a disservice to the franchise. They need to cancel this ASAP.

SICK AND TIRED of Walking Dead, and Fear the.... Crappy dialog and acting with story lines I could care less about, and gore sequences overdone 1001 times since the 1980s started the Zombie genre. Get it off my TV, AMC, or I'll eventually get rid of cable. Yes, it's that BAD.

I have been watching this show since season one. The plot/storylines is not that bad. I like when they were at the hotel i would have liked to see that played out more, i think they left that storyline too quick. I just think the actors/characters are not likable. If there were different actors playing the parts maybe it would not be so boring i could care less who dies on the show

The character development is just a joke because every single character gives me a headache with how annoying they are. Sure it right now has better walker action but its nothing spectacular considering The Walking Dead's walkers at the very beginning of the show were the exact same the only reason it seems so different right now is because of the timeline differences. FTWD started at the very beginning of the apocalypse where TWD started 6 weeks after it at least. FTWD is just a cheap knock-off version of the original show. Just look at the viewerbase of the two shows and it shows how bad FTWD is compared to TWD and it is embarrassing. FTWD's total view numbers is down to just over 2 million since last episode aired and TWD's are still between 10-11 million where they have been for years. Fear the Walking Dead is not and it will never, ever be better than The Walking Dead. It is a total disgrace and a spit in the face to the original show whoever came up with the idea of this garbage spin-off should be ashamed of themselves. Expand

Anyway, as for the show, It has its moments, and i am still sticking with it through gritted teeth! I'm a sucker for punishment. The show is a drama about humans struggling, It has very little to do with the walkers. The acting is terrible, especially Kim Dickens and her family in the show. Kim takes the award for actress who cant act award for 2017. It is levels of bad that i can't put into words.

If it wasn't for the feminist obsession here in 2017 they would have killed her off along time ago. In fact, i believe that doing so would draw people back into the world more as it is unbelievable how a woman who only has one emotion can influence so many people and act like a bad ass when in real life she wouldn't have lasted a second with how she acts in fear the walking dead.

I have seen a drop in qaulty of the walking dead since fear started awhile back. I dont know if this is just a coincadence but the shows feel stale and repetative. They are so scared to offend people that certain events happen on the show that in a real life situation would go down a whole different way!

I persoanlly think the makers should be disgusted with how low qauloty their shows have become!

If you want to save it, start with Kim asap.

The story of the mysterious outbreak and its ramifications are told through the lens of high school guidance counsellor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa. Widowed mother Madison is raising two children single-handedly but has recently found love with Travis, who maintains a relationship with his ex-wife and resentful son while trying to become a father to Madison's children. The challenge of blending their families is exacerbated by unforeseen chaos, and a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold. The casting is a bit weird. As if it was tailored to reflect more the southern demographics of the states (to which personally have no problem with in these dark times), but the characters are somehow off. I think whoever was who made the casting should get another job as there was no spark of genius or talent here but a lot of Hollywood narcissism totally cut out of real life.

The lack of alchemy for the casting and boring writing is what brings this series down.
Beyond that, the CGI for the boat are a sham, and the camera and scene work reveal a lack of talent or inspiration for an obvious commercial spin off of a walking dead series that will soon come to a conclusion.

In the end, it is quite funny to see that despite the fact that the word "Zombies" has fallen out of fashion after all the Romero's overrated movies of the 80's, the "walking dead" remain a stupidly resistant imagery of a backward America still stuck in its religious fundamentalism.

There must be a leader in this series somewhere - a person who should really be at the helm making better decisions than Madison. And honestly, why is Madison even needed? She brings nothing useful to the table. Alicia and Nick are promising - Alicia is growing, Nick puts himself out there & tries to help. Somebody in charge of this show needs to open their eyes. Wait, maybe 'Madison' is in charge of the show - that certainly would explain a lot. (BTW, I do not blame the actors - they follow the director's lead and the writers script). Rating it a (1) for either kill it or revamp it. I don't give a crap if it is a spin off - as a spin off it always had big shoes to follow after, but the way it is now is a poor excuse for giving up an hour of your life each week. This show entirely unimaginitive. There does not appear to be any overarching narrative, which would be okay if each individual episode wasn't family focused melodrama. It's not really a zombie show at all, since drugs, personalities and religion seem to have more influence over the plot than zombies.

The thematic questions they should be asking with this spin off is a question of hope, not a question of humanity.

In the original Walking Dead, the characters struggle with holding on to their humanity, asking themselves questions about who they are and what makes them good or evil. They slowly change into ruthless killers in order to survive and throughout their experiences we accept their behavior as just. Their evolution is painfully showcased throughout all 6 seasons and when they realize they are in a new world order we accept how they’ve changed.

In Fear the Walking Dead the same questions and results are only shown within 2 seasons and there is nothing different but a rehashed pitch from the original. By the end of season 2 the characters of FTWD have already accepted the new world order, all while Rick is still asleep in his coma. This hardly seems like the beginning of the end of the world.

This type of spin off shows the archive to spin is infinite without ever having to find an intersecting point with the original. But I wonder how many spin offs can they make before the audience moves on to a new series.

This is not what I expected when I heard of FTWD, I expected the characters with real and logical emotions, and a story that is in relation to the original series. I want to see ground zero of The Walking Dead. Where the disease started, how it spread, who tried to stop it, and what they did when it became uncontrollable.

The thematic questions Fear the Walking Dead should have are, “Can we stop the end of the world?” and “Is there hope for all of us?” This spin off is a rehashed pitch from the original, using the former as an outline all while changing characters and settings. The characters in FTWD left LA too soon, and they accepted the end of the world without a fight.

Also to add, the characters in FTWD have poor logic, which frustrates the audience, and also the series in general seems very half baked. Nothing new to see here... Or Fear.
