Zombies, Death, tearing of flesh....and running in fear....I hope this movie has the same life span as the original show.

It's Travis" before they realize someone who is chewing on a dog is not someone you should not get near!? And after killing her son's ex-drug dealer zombie friend and zombie co-worker do you really think someone would worry about her son's drug abuse? Things would be so bat**it crazy that would be the last thing to address. I hope the writers' really step it up because they've got an amazing premise to work with and they're f***ing it up big time. The slow pace is annoying too. If the world was really ending it would be a mad dash for food, supplies, guns, etc. Not "what's wrong with that woman dad?" emo time. Going to give this show a few episodes to get in gear and add some realistic attitudes before I find something else to watch. Expand

Fear nothing! Endless boring crybabies having no clue!
Only thing, i suppose, is likable is that we are waiting for The Walking Dead to happen!
And as mentionned in other reviews, the characters reactions are a joke...
Conclusion: Garbage! (like the scene where the main character brings the trash out expecting it to be picked up by city services when hospitals are in fire and people are shot cold dead in the streets!)

The acting and screenwriting are just atrocious, with enough holes to march a zombie army through. The only reason I'm still watching at this point, is the remote hope a main character gets eaten.

And, why are most characters on this TV show so anti-government, anti-police, anti-military... it's like watching OMNI TVs version of white trash. Everyone on the show appears to be ignorant and disgruntled. Other reviews indicated that the writers are trying to show human nature and how people would respond during a crisis what I think they are doing is showing how stupid people actually are. The world if falling apart around them and they are bickering with each other. Yes! that is a zombie eating your neighbour do something! Do anything!

Here's the thing, this is all about the beginning. While the family dynamic is a bit cliche, the point is that when anything initially begins (particularly a pandemic event), people casually ignore the signs and life moves on UNTIL they see it with their own eyes. It WOULD be a bit dull UNTIL it got personal. I felt that this episode did a great job with this aspect. No, the city hasn't gone to hell yet, but I'm sure we'll get there.(Further, we already saw that in Atlanta). I don't think that this pilot was ever going to be about blood and gore, but more about how people could believe or comprehend what they were seeing and how they would react. You see how it starts....quiet paranoia. This will likely lead to civil unrest, which will lead to dinner bells for the walkers.

I trust that the blood and spitting guts are to come, but in a way I am very interested to see how a couple of teachers and their kids will enter and MAYBE survive some of the zombie apocalypse. I doubt very much that we will be disappointed.

Looking forward to next week. Solid 8 for me. Not mind blowing, but far from disappointed.

The acting was terrible and none of the characters were remotely believable to me. The characters are what make TWD so good and that aspect was completely lacking in the pilot.

Thus far after two episodes I give this show a 4 out of 10. It's not that I have something against character plots and building a story.... but I feel like for one reason or another that so far the story hasn't unfolded naturally and believably. There wasn't many stand-out moments as of now either. I will revisit my review of the show in a few more episodes, but not a fantastic start IMO.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This series is a money-grab by AMC and Robert Kirkman. The pitch was "We'll see the end of civilization". We've seen nothing. There are 16M people in the LA area. It is impossible to evacuate that many people. A lot of people have to get sick, die, and turn in a short timeframe. Influenza and plague have devastated societies in the past yet few people have actually been sick. There has only been 2 walkers in Maddie's neighborhood. One was a suicide. Two walkers is not enough to evacuate a community. It is reasonable that people would be getting sick and dying yet the neighborhood hasn't been exposed to the contagion. No one has Internet, TV or radio in a middle-class neighborhood. The Internet was designed to function after a nuclear war however it has failed after less than 2 weeks because no one allegedly is there to maintain it. Walkers tearing apart stupid characters is boring. Perhaps the series can be saved when better writers are hired. IMO we're being served hot garbage and expected to like it. Expand

The casting is a bit weird. As if it was tailored to reflect more the southern demographics of the states (to which personally have no problem with in these dark times), but the characters are somehow off. I think whoever was who made the casting should get another job as there was no spark of genius or talent here but a lot of Hollywood narcissism totally cut out of real life.

The lack of alchemy for the casting and boring writing is what brings this series down.
Beyond that, the CGI for the boat are a sham, and the camera and scene work reveal a lack of talent or inspiration for an obvious commercial spin off of a walking dead series that will soon come to a conclusion.

In the end, it is quite funny to see that despite the fact that the word "Zombies" has fallen out of fashion after all the Romero's overrated movies of the 80's, the "walking dead" remain a stupidly resistant imagery of a backward America still stuck in its religious fundamentalism.

AMC has invited splendid actors able to play their roles with ease and successfully. Perosnally, I enjoyed the plot, but sometimes I wanna sleep when watching a new episode. Anyway, as for the show, It has its moments, and i am still sticking with it through gritted teeth! I'm a sucker for punishment. The show is a drama about humans struggling, It has very little to do with the walkers. The acting is terrible, especially Kim Dickens and her family in the show. Kim takes the award for actress who cant act award for 2017. It is levels of bad that i can't put into words.

If it wasn't for the feminist obsession here in 2017 they would have killed her off along time ago. In fact, i believe that doing so would draw people back into the world more as it is unbelievable how a woman who only has one emotion can influence so many people and act like a bad ass when in real life she wouldn't have lasted a second with how she acts in fear the walking dead.

I have seen a drop in qaulty of the walking dead since fear started awhile back. I dont know if this is just a coincadence but the shows feel stale and repetative. They are so scared to offend people that certain events happen on the show that in a real life situation would go down a whole different way!

I persoanlly think the makers should be disgusted with how low qauloty their shows have become!

If you want to save it, start with Kim asap.

The thematic questions they should be asking with this spin off is a question of hope, not a question of humanity.

In the original Walking Dead, the characters struggle with holding on to their humanity, asking themselves questions about who they are and what makes them good or evil. They slowly change into ruthless killers in order to survive and throughout their experiences we accept their behavior as just. Their evolution is painfully showcased throughout all 6 seasons and when they realize they are in a new world order we accept how they’ve changed.

In Fear the Walking Dead the same questions and results are only shown within 2 seasons and there is nothing different but a rehashed pitch from the original. By the end of season 2 the characters of FTWD have already accepted the new world order, all while Rick is still asleep in his coma. This hardly seems like the beginning of the end of the world.

This type of spin off shows the archive to spin is infinite without ever having to find an intersecting point with the original. But I wonder how many spin offs can they make before the audience moves on to a new series.

This is not what I expected when I heard of FTWD, I expected the characters with real and logical emotions, and a story that is in relation to the original series. I want to see ground zero of The Walking Dead. Where the disease started, how it spread, who tried to stop it, and what they did when it became uncontrollable.

The thematic questions Fear the Walking Dead should have are, “Can we stop the end of the world?” and “Is there hope for all of us?” This spin off is a rehashed pitch from the original, using the former as an outline all while changing characters and settings. The characters in FTWD left LA too soon, and they accepted the end of the world without a fight.

Also to add, the characters in FTWD have poor logic, which frustrates the audience, and also the series in general seems very half baked. Nothing new to see here... Or Fear.

A pretty stupid, slow-moving affair, to be honest. "Fear the Walking Dead" clearly suffers from some of the original series' problems (e.g.: dumb characters) but the tension does have a nice ring to it, and the cast, while most of them aren't given much to do, they do a good job.

Promising ideas that are cast aside in favor for pointless overarching conflicts.
