The character development was abysmal and the acting was pretty poor by some of the actors taking the immersion factor away completely. The walkers themselves even seemed a little off, perhaps being so early in the infection time it is too early to judge. However it is interesting as a fan of the original series to see what was happening when Rick went into a coma, before the outbreak and seeing the chaos and turmoil the characters had to face. If you're a fan of the walking dead I'd say try it, see if you like it, if not, then don't bother with the rest of the season. I wouldn't recommend this however if you are not a fan and would say watch the walking dead for a much better overall experience in this universe. Expand

Huge fan of TWD. Fear The Walking Dead is garbage. Bad acting, bad story, bad pacing, bad directing, boring cinematography. There is nothing of any value here. This show is an insult to TWD and is doing a disservice to the franchise. They need to cancel this ASAP.

SICK AND TIRED of Walking Dead, and Fear the.... Crappy dialog and acting with story lines I could care less about, and gore sequences overdone 1001 times since the 1980s started the Zombie genre. Get it off my TV, AMC, or I'll eventually get rid of cable. Yes, it's that BAD.

I have been watching this show since season one. The plot/storylines is not that bad. I like when they were at the hotel i would have liked to see that played out more, i think they left that storyline too quick. I just think the actors/characters are not likable. If there were different actors playing the parts maybe it would not be so boring i could care less who dies on the show

Fear the Walking Dead...wow. I could never describe with words how bad this show is. The character development is just a joke because every single character gives me a headache with how annoying they are. Sure it right now has better walker action but its nothing spectacular considering The Walking Dead's walkers at the very beginning of the show were the exact same the only reason it seems so different right now is because of the timeline differences. FTWD started at the very beginning of the apocalypse where TWD started 6 weeks after it at least. FTWD is just a cheap knock-off version of the original show. Just look at the viewerbase of the two shows and it shows how bad FTWD is compared to TWD and it is embarrassing. FTWD's total view numbers is down to just over 2 million since last episode aired and TWD's are still between 10-11 million where they have been for years. Fear the Walking Dead is not and it will never, ever be better than The Walking Dead. It is a total disgrace and a spit in the face to the original show whoever came up with the idea of this garbage spin-off should be ashamed of themselves. Expand

Anyway, as for the show, It has its moments, and i am still sticking with it through gritted teeth! I'm a sucker for punishment. The show is a drama about humans struggling, It has very little to do with the walkers. The acting is terrible, especially Kim Dickens and her family in the show. Kim takes the award for actress who cant act award for 2017. It is levels of bad that i can't put into words.

If it wasn't for the feminist obsession here in 2017 they would have killed her off along time ago. In fact, i believe that doing so would draw people back into the world more as it is unbelievable how a woman who only has one emotion can influence so many people and act like a bad ass when in real life she wouldn't have lasted a second with how she acts in fear the walking dead.

I have seen a drop in qaulty of the walking dead since fear started awhile back. I dont know if this is just a coincadence but the shows feel stale and repetative. They are so scared to offend people that certain events happen on the show that in a real life situation would go down a whole different way!

I persoanlly think the makers should be disgusted with how low qauloty their shows have become!

If you want to save it, start with Kim asap.

This show is a train wreck, and needs to be taken off the air. Otherwise, it needs an overhaul, new writers, stronger and more interesting characters who are capable of growing, not alienating everyone. There must be a leader in this series somewhere - a person who should really be at the helm making better decisions than Madison. And honestly, why is Madison even needed? She brings nothing useful to the table. Alicia and Nick are promising - Alicia is growing, Nick puts himself out there & tries to help. Somebody in charge of this show needs to open their eyes. Wait, maybe 'Madison' is in charge of the show - that certainly would explain a lot. (BTW, I do not blame the actors - they follow the director's lead and the writers script). Rating it a (1) for either kill it or revamp it. I don't give a crap if it is a spin off - as a spin off it always had big shoes to follow after, but the way it is now is a poor excuse for giving up an hour of your life each week. It certainly is not entertainment. Expand

This show entirely unimaginitive. There does not appear to be any overarching narrative, which would be okay if each individual episode wasn't family focused melodrama. It's not really a zombie show at all, since drugs, personalities and religion seem to have more influence over the plot than zombies.

The thematic questions they should be asking with this spin off is a question of hope, not a question of humanity.

In the original Walking Dead, the characters struggle with holding on to their humanity, asking themselves questions about who they are and what makes them good or evil. They slowly change into ruthless killers in order to survive and throughout their experiences we accept their behavior as just. Their evolution is painfully showcased throughout all 6 seasons and when they realize they are in a new world order we accept how they’ve changed.

In Fear the Walking Dead the same questions and results are only shown within 2 seasons and there is nothing different but a rehashed pitch from the original. By the end of season 2 the characters of FTWD have already accepted the new world order, all while Rick is still asleep in his coma. This hardly seems like the beginning of the end of the world.

This type of spin off shows the archive to spin is infinite without ever having to find an intersecting point with the original. But I wonder how many spin offs can they make before the audience moves on to a new series.

This is not what I expected when I heard of FTWD, I expected the characters with real and logical emotions, and a story that is in relation to the original series. I want to see ground zero of The Walking Dead. Where the disease started, how it spread, who tried to stop it, and what they did when it became uncontrollable.

The thematic questions Fear the Walking Dead should have are, “Can we stop the end of the world?” and “Is there hope for all of us?” This spin off is a rehashed pitch from the original, using the former as an outline all while changing characters and settings. The characters in FTWD left LA too soon, and they accepted the end of the world without a fight.

Also to add, the characters in FTWD have poor logic, which frustrates the audience, and also the series in general seems very half baked. Nothing new to see here... Or Fear.

I always thought the strength of the Walking Dead rested on its characters who sink deep into your memory and stay there forever. You mourn every loss, anticipate every episode, feel relief whenever the characters are given a few minutes' worth of respite. Fear the Walking Dead is the complete opposite of that - basically all the characters are **** annoying, and such a strong reaction is a huge achievement considering how bland, lifeless and dull they are. You literally don't give a flying **** if any of them dies; in fact, you're rooting for some of them to be torn to pieces and stop irritating you. The mother looks like an ugly alligator, the daughter is too beautiful to be even vaguely believable as an actual person, the romance between two alpha males is hilariously forced, the father... etc., etc. There's some depth to the ex-torturer, but that's all. Now you see the problem - if you wanna the main cast to be devoured, that's a sign of some pretty disastrous character creation.

We could go on and list dozens of other gripes people have been mentioning - pacing issues, stupid decisions, recycled plot points from the Walking Dead (actually verging on plagiarism in some episodes) - but it's all a side-note to the main downer: the weakest, most boring, uninspired and insipid characters I've seen in a TV series in my life. Oh, and if you expected this series to give you the answers the Walking Dead never provided... well, you're gonna be disappointed on that front as well.

So there you go, a complete failure in every possible respect, at best, it could serve as a form of guilty pleasure for the fans of the original masterpiece to poke fun at, a rubber doll with an unchanging expression on its rubber face on which you can vent your anger with friends and criticise every single second of this massive disappointment.

    Enjoy. At your own peril.

    Utter ****

The show is closer to "Fear the Government" than it's original title. The only episode that is any way entertaining at all is the last one and even that one s full of zombie cliches. The characters are boring, the story is terrible and the show as a whole is an effortless dull cash grab.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fear the walking dead begins with a character finding out that things are going to **** in a meth house. Or crack house. (not sure of the name) We find the character Nick, who's character is the only name I can remember after watching 2 episodes of this **** who finds someone he knows as a zombie and runs out into the middle of the road and gets by a car and dies.. I only wish that happened..

Look I don't even want to dive that thoroughly into the episode, because I feel as if I did, I would be wasting my time. I'm here to point out all the problems I witnessed in this episode.

So after a unique opening we are greeted with the pile of **** known as Fear The Walking Dead, now Fear The Walking Dead as a title doesn't make sense because at NO POINT during the first 2 episodes was I scared. No point, I did not experience fear at all, so the title of the series is **** stupid to begin with, however I understand why it's called that, it shows how lazy the production was, they literally just stuck the word "Fear" in front of "The Walking Dead" now that is lazy as all ****.

The title being lazy symbolises the entire production, lazy, dull and seem as if they don't give a crap. The episode itself is one of the most drawn out and dull pieces of garbage I have ever witnessed, there is nothing salvageable about Fear the Walking Dead. 2 episodes in I could not describe the characters personality, seriously people bang on about Clara from Doctor Who not having a character but at least you could tell the writing department were trying. Beside Steven Moffat. But here, not one character has a likeable personality, possibly Nick? but then again I can't really describe his personality, and I can't even remember the other characters names.

This is jarring as hell considering that The Walking Dead, the TV show, I could name nearly every character. Well the important ones at least, Rick, Morgan, Dwayne, Lori, Carl and Shane in the first 2 episodes. in FTWD, I can remember 1, that's not saying much about a show that the writers original intention was to be all about the characters, which was dealt with remarkably well in the Main series. For the first 3 seasons at least, season 4 is where things started to fall apart with characterisation.

So the characters are bad, but I haven't even begun on the acting. with Nick, I get the sense he's sort of trying but with the others.. I constantly think of them as actors reading a script due to the expressionless faces of the actors I have a feeling they don't give a **** about anything but their pay check. The Mother of Nick (the name of her, I cannot recall) is a **** for the reason... she's a **** she acts really uptight for no reason and tells some police to **** off in the first episode (she doesn't say **** off, but she tells them to basically get lost) and this makes her character come across as rather unlikeable. Then there's Nicks sister who is a blank slate and his step dad who is also a blank slate.

The one point that really **** annoyed me in episode 2 was when the dad or mother didn't tell the neighbours about the upcoming apocalypse. what a ****head, that made the character so unsalvageable for me, I considered no longer watching due to the extent that part pissed me off. This is probably down the writing, which is god awful and cliche as **** I could predict nearly everything that was going to happen in the first 2 episode. Girls boyfriend, oh he's going to get bitten and they'll cry and get all sad.. the problem is I don't care about this girls boyfriend, I've spent to little time knowing him so when he dies I don't care about his character enough to feel sad, I'm not invested.

The narrative falls apart whenever I think about it, I was intrigued at the beginning as I thought it was going to be fast paced. But then I read up a bit more and the point of the show is that it's the start of the apocalypse, not during it, before. Not only is this concept a stupid as **** idea, beginnings are never the most interesting part, that's why they skipped it in their main series!!! because we could cut right to the action. This is a stupid concept.

So the Narrative sucks. The acting is plain awful. All the characters are blank slates. The Script is shoddy. What about the direction.... well it's kind of **** I doubt a lot of money went into making it because the cinematography is really cheesy and bland.

Before people start hammering that "no" on the helpful review section or report me for trolling or some **** can you please not. I will respect your opinion if you respect mine. I do not like the series but you're allowed to like it. This is just an opinion and if you liked it, good for you, but personally I don't have the appeal.

In conclusion I genuinely dislike the series, I've listed reasons and supported it with evidence to back up my claims for reasons why. 1/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This series is a money-grab by AMC and Robert Kirkman. The pitch was "We'll see the end of civilization". We've seen nothing. There are 16M people in the LA area. It is impossible to evacuate that many people. A lot of people have to get sick, die, and turn in a short timeframe. Influenza and plague have devastated societies in the past yet few people have actually been sick. There has only been 2 walkers in Maddie's neighborhood. One was a suicide. Two walkers is not enough to evacuate a community. It is reasonable that people would be getting sick and dying yet the neighborhood hasn't been exposed to the contagion. No one has Internet, TV or radio in a middle-class neighborhood. The Internet was designed to function after a nuclear war however it has failed after less than 2 weeks because no one allegedly is there to maintain it. Walkers tearing apart stupid characters is boring. Perhaps the series can be saved when better writers are hired. IMO we're being served hot garbage and expected to like it. Expand

I don't like any of the characters except the barber shop dad..he gets it. Everyone else needs to be eaten and replaced. The whole diversity thing is being shoved down the viewers throats and the big melting pot cast seems fake. Plus they make the military look like evil occupiers and the police are no where to be found. Really? Oh and the characters do things that are really stupid. Who shines a flashlight at a window while looking out of the window for suspicious activity? All there is is glare from the flashlight. Stupid. What words do I think of when I think of Fear The Walking Dead? Slow? Cliche? Contrived? I could spend all night thinking of negative words to associate with Fear the Walking Dead, but I won't.

AMC had a blockbuster TV series with The Walking Dead. The comic is still going full strength and I doubt it will be running out of steam any time soon. With a TV show that is already pre-written, a contract that allows creative control to change, twist and add to an already popular graphic novel, why would AMC even BOTHER with making an attempt to add a second "Walking Dead" show on TV?

Ratings. Pure and simple. AMC got greedy. Walking Dead is already a powerhouse on their network and in the ratings. But the fact is, even The Walking Dead has a tendency to be slow and dragged out at times, to the point I may even skip entire episodes at a time.

Fear The Walking Dead only shows that the writers and creative force over at AMC has no real creative writing team, no one has a solid grasp or understanding on how the Walking Dead works, which should first and foremost be a zombie thriller first, a human drama second.

Take out the horror, zombies, violence and thrills of The Walking Dead and all you have is a day time soap opera and that is exactly what Fear The Walking Dead is. It takes the very concept and core identity of the franchise (ZOMBIES) and throws it right out the god damn window.

Is it going to get better? Only time will tell, but I have no idea how long I can hold out until the show actually becomes more exciting and interesting. And really, is a show that forces me to slog through slow, boring bits only to get gradually better over time even worth MY TIME?

    I'd say no.
