This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After I rewatched the whole first season after a day and I can't give a bad rating for the series. Yes there are things done poorly, but nonetheless a bit part were been great. I didn't watched a lot of the old winx version and just say about my feelings with the netflix show.
How is the character development? I'd say it's good for how short the show is. You can't show every character evolve in six episodes. We saw problems of power controll with Aisha, a relation between Sam and Musa, and Terra thats tries to have any good relation, but espacially a good one with Dan. Not every of it was till the end done perfectly fine. I didn't liked Stella, that she was always only upset about everyone, but atleast at the end she showed sorrow and the reason for that. You saw Bloom evolving with her powers but with the relation with their friends, family and Sky.

Story? It was for me enough to watch it in two days two times and enjoying it. The main story are the burned ones and Blooms past and power development during the show. I can't complain about it, we have a cliffhanger, but thats the reason why im excited for the next season.

Area? I think it should be more magic then just a forest. Maybe they did have limitation and thats why it's almost exclusively in the school just a quick part before and in the house of Bloom parent's. Maybe there were some limitation that's why im not upset and i didn't quite remember the old show.

Animation? Yeah that wasn't amazing at all some probably a problem caused by the pandemic, but nonetheless still done on a good level. Even tho I think could been done far more better.

I maybe do some people upset, but they record it in a difficult time to make a smile on some faces. I like the series so far (as I propably said few times in the review). It's a great base to build on a good story, hope they make more episodes so we can see more involvment of each character with each other and make it more smooth.

A little quirky.. but worth a second season. Definitely older teen/young adult vibe. Characters are barely scratching the surface & they introduced a number of them..

Not bad but not good. The story was very lackluster and the season was way too short. The last episode saved it for me (with a little but pleasant surprise). Maybe, just maybe, a second season would spice things up ...

In short, the series seems to forget what it is and what it should be during this season.

Since it’s following such a well-established set of tropes, “Fate: The Winx Saga” is rarely surprising — but it is strange, in a way that’s also becoming too familiar. ... By rejecting the aesthetic and vibe of its source material entirely for a pale imitation of other YA properties, “Fate: The Winx Saga” might just end up slipping through the cracks.

If the focus was just on Bloom and how she figures out if she’s a changeling or not, that might have worked. But the “Scooby gang” approach to this story seems all too familiar, and not at all interesting.
