Season 5 is actually The Peacekeeper Wars, a miniseries produced after a massive fan campaign to tie up the plot from the end of Season 4. Rather like Serenity, its not a proper replacement for an entire season of television and part of its appeal is seeing the fingerprints of what the creative team *would* have done with that season.

Character arcs, Farscape's strongest aspect, are highly condensed to the point where some characters seem completely different to their usual selves. The action, however, is top notch and the script remains as witty and engaging as the series itself. It does suffer many, many info dumps as it attempts to manage a very complex, if still manageable, plot but has enough to work as a standalone drama.
In all aspects, this is a conclusion to the series. If you haven't seen the show at all, watch some episodes from season 1 or 2 at random. If you've seen a few episodes before, this might be worth watching, though you'll likely feel you're missing something which you are.
