Fargo the film and 1st 3 seasons of the TV show are collectively an American Treasure. It seems like season 4 was hijacked by a group of junior high students, this is probably the worst writing and acting I’ve ever encountered. What is this garbage? Don’t watch this - watch the movie and the first 3 seasons of the show and just pretend it all ends there - like I wish I did.

Was bored at the moment they stomped their feet. Why? It’s so forced, unrealistic, corny, and kind of dumb, to be honest. It’s very formulaic and of course the set and characters look like you’re making a movie about this time. That’s not a compliment. Just put the effort into the content instead of getting cute with split screens and boring dialogue. It’s like you watch this to say youWas bored at the moment they stomped their feet. Why? It’s like you watch this to say you watched it and go on about how great it is but deep down everyone is lying to each other. I applaud the move to get a more diverse cast but it’s doesn’t necessarily make the actual content better. It’s just not compelling enough to see what happens in the story. Bummer. Expand

What happened? This show used to be dark, hilarious, and well written. This new season? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So many missed opportunities! Boring and strange story with few entertaining moments. I liked the nurses's storyline, but there were so many other scenes which will leave you unsatisfied. They makers seemed to be very interested in making this series about racism, but failed to deliver on any other parts. It is preachy at best and not worthy of the brand name "Fargo"

Oh yeah, and the ending is stupid, too.

Doesn't even feel like Fargo. Also with the exception of Rock, the entire show seems poorly miscast. Some of the worst performances seen on the series in a long time are seen here from Salvatore Esposito and Karen Aldridge. The first two seasons were some of the best in television. This is a far fall from grace that should've had an entirely different title.

Nothing like the first 3 seasons. It maybe an ok TV show on it's own but it isn't definitely Fargo.

Far from at the same level as the previous three seasons. Acting is kind of uneven. Dialogue is not good. The storyline is very unclear after the first five episodes. What is this all about? What is the main plot?
Sorry - but I guess this will be the last season.

Fargo season 4 is not only complicated and hard to follow but it is extremely boring. The sound quality is atrocious. It sounds like a force 10 hurricane is outside in every scene. Most disappointing nowhere near as good as the previous 3 seasons. To think I was waiting for this I loved Fargo until this disaster. What's it all about?

By Fargo standards the cast feels off a lot of the time with few exceptions, like Timothy Olyphant or Glynn Turman.
There is too much lame grotesque and flat predictable acting in this season.
Every time Chris Rock acts emotionally, I cant help but wait for some kind of punchline and audience laughter.
I just don't buy this drama.

Performance is good, but no Fargo story behind. Only gangs. The last episode is disappointing.

Where to start. Sat down with great expectation to another season of Fargo after long wait. Unfortunately watched the first 2 episodes and it was truly dreadful, awful. Terrible sound quality, boring and uninteresting plot and characters. A total yawn fest. Not going to watch. Its frankly rubbish.

Season 1-3 are great and then comes the big disappointment that is Season 4. Season 4 deserves 0 points. I love Chris Rock's comedy but the man can't act and neither can Jason Schwartzman who is as annoying as ever. If that guy wasn't part of the Copolla clan he'd never get work.

For as long as it took for it to finally be brought to light it most certainly was not worth the wait, yes it has stars in this series but to see and take Chris Rock seriously as a tough guy is just really really hard to take serious, is not dark or funny or anything barely that resembles a Fargo series, lazy pathetic writing and directing coming from the creater of the series Noah HawleyFor as long as it took for it to finally be brought to light it most certainly was not worth the wait, yes it has stars in this series but to see and take Chris Rock seriously as a tough guy is just really really hard to take serious, is not dark or funny or anything barely that resembles a Fargo series, lazy pathetic writing and directing coming from the creater of the series Noah Hawley so it pretty much sets the pace of what's to be expected from the rest of the episodes, they should of left this series on the shelf were it has been and belongs. Watchable with a little fast-forwarding here and there, but oh boy was this a disappointment vs. S1 and S3, it was even weaker than the previously weakest season 2. Too many characters, too many threads, too many slow expositional scenes, no satisfactory conclusion anywhere in sight.

Noah Hawley continues his extraordinary franchise with yet another masterpiece. Any fear that Chris Rock was going to have to carry the series on his own is quickly alleviated as another stunning ensemble cast is introduced. Production design, costumes, score and cinematography are all unparalleled.

These first two episodes of season 4 are already indicating that we are in for another compelling season of television. However so far this season hasn’t captured the magic of the previous three.

Narratively different but thematically identical to any other Fargo entry, season 4 isn't as strong as it's earlier counterparts but still delivers a worthwhile story put together in an interesting way.

The season started off so promising, but it ended up being just one monologue after another. People don't stop to tell stories every five seconds in real life. It feels like Hawley is stuck in a one-note orchestra.

A side note, which does not affect my score: the entire message of the season appears to be that white people are evil, and women are superior to men. A theme of equality, ironically, gives way to the reverse.

Four seasons in and Fargo is still as strong as ever, a sprawling gangland feud delivered with bravura filmmaking. It’s a lot to get your head round but, skilfully played by a pitch-perfect cast, it’s well worth the effort.
