Reality TV has gotten rich off ethnic stereotypes--"Jersey Shore," anyone?--and now comes the generically titled Family Restaurant, about the Quon family, who run a thriving Chinese restaurant.

There's nothing inherently interesting about the show's attempt to combine stock ethnic-family sitcom formulas with retro-kitsch nostalgia, and viewers (especially those who have worked in family Chinese restaurants) may find the simplifications and stereotypes appalling.
