Season 1 Review: It has a lot of fun playing with the conventions of that currently dominant genre, but it is equally representative of some other favorite modes of the Walt Disney Company: the sentimental buddy comedy and the inspirational triumph-of-the-underdog tale. There are many ways that blend could go wrong, but the show’s various strains are combined in a charming and consistently amusing fashion by its creator and writer, Emma Moran. Read full review

Season 2 Review: Like the first series, this one ends on a cliffhanger. Tyers has signed up to do four if Disney wants them and so a third season, at least, for Jen and the gang seems a certainty. Extraordinary is a superhero show with real staying power. Read full review

Season 1 Review: Extraordinary is fun but does begin to feel, once the initial playfulness of the premise has worn off, underbaked. ... Surprising little gem with fresh cast. Not immediate hit perhaps but the longer you give, the more interesting it gets.

In another variation on the super power genre, one woman (Máiréad Tyers) is the only person in her world who does NOT have a power. Her journey to discover her special ability involves her roommates, a fun assemblage of semi-quirky characters. Probably the most fun is the man who transforms into a cat (Luke Rollason). As she wanders thru the series, we're treated to people enjoying their powers all around, which adds a fantasy touch to the sci-fi world. What makes the series most enjoyable is peculiar charms of the cast and the light, fresh writing. It's not hilarious and won't break any new ground, but is more entertaining and unique than much of the current comedy fare.… Expand
