    The people who create Eureka always seem to know how to add a few dabs of paint that no previous TV show covering time travel and electronic body transport had thought of.

    Eureka remains my favorite of the two [the other is Warehouse 13], maybe because it seems to do a better job of integrating new characters - and viewers - even as it allows its writers to reset the show's reality as often as they choose.

    Eureka also starts strong, with a time-travel misadventure on Founders' Day that sends Sheriff Jack Carter, his unrequited love interest Allison, Deputy Jo, uber-geek Fargo and town sage Henry back to a time when Eureka was still "Camp Eureka," a 1947 military facility only beginning to reveal its true purpose.

    I tend not to watch it after the first few episodes of each season, because it tends to travel somewhat repetitive storytelling roads (i.e., every week, science goes awry, then science is used to fix what went awry)....I like the implications of that bigger arc, which promises more depth, which Eureka needs.

    Watching Eureka’s fourth season I did began to realise that there are only so many times the town can nearly be destroyed or a character canWatching Eureka’s fourth season I did began to realise that there are only so many times the town can nearly be destroyed or a character can almost die before it loses any real meaning and, during the odd episode, I did begin to lose interest slightly. For the most part however the cast, lead as ever by the excellent Colin Ferguson, kept me entertained as they always have and the ongoing plot behind GD’s planned mission to Titan did add something more to the usual procedural nature of the show. I’ll certainly be tuning in to see the shows fifth and final season.… Full Review »

    I'm a big Eureka fan and loved the first 3 seasons and the last. However this season I can only best describe as having "sold out". The plotI'm a big Eureka fan and loved the first 3 seasons and the last. However this season I can only best describe as having "sold out". The plot line and sci-fi writing is as good as ever in this season, however the "cheerfulness" of the characters, particularly those recently introduced, gets completely out of hand. Let's be honest, most of us sci-fi fans wants to see certain types of characters. Shows like Trek or Gate really capture this well, or even something like BSG where nearly all the characters are likeable bad-asses (Saul Tai anyone?). It would be shallow to dislike a season just because the characters don't fit into my forte, and that is not my point here. Simply put, the personalities in this season distract far too much from the sci-fi elements of the show as well as the main plot line which was written quite well.… Full Review »
