Visual spectacle without too much substance in it. Characters are hollow shells. Actions have little to no impact on them or their development. Pretty shot and pretty looking but nothing in it.

The series tries to inoculate itself from criticism by warning - sorry, it's not about flowers and getting Dad's permission any more - that if you object to it in any way it's because you're a prude. Sorry, it's exploitative and sexist. Showing tons of penises doesn't mitigate the damage of making young actresses perform graphic nude sex scenes. That's what Harvey Weinstein did. It's not edgy or hip, it's just misogyny du jour. Expand

These characters take themselves wayyy too seriously. It's a dour, gristly, humorless undertaking perhaps for teenage viewers who also want to learn to take themselves more seriously than they should. Expand

Awful depictions of teen sexual violence, drug abuse and nudity i found absolutely disgusting and could not enjoy the show. Too much shock material.

Season one held high highs and low lows with the majority of its positives coming in the way of acting and cinematography. Still, the first season left me with a feeling of dissatisfaction with the majority of the whole while still holding out hope that the true themes of the drug epidemic, teenage sexuality, and young adulthood would shine through in its second outing. Unfortunately Euphoria season 2 takes what the first season built and plunges into a horrific nose dive into what could very well be to the definition of "bad taste". This may be an intentional choice by the showrunners, but there hasn't been an episode where I felt like I was watching a show with a message. Most of it is simply unpleasant to bear witness to. While the cinematography and performances tend to shine the brightest, (particularly in Zendaya's Rue), the show caves in on itself due to the weight of its own lust for misery. Expand
