Entourage--at least in original episodes--has been off the air for one solid year, but when that title song from Jane's Addiction kicks in, it's like an old friend calling--only this time, the friend seems worthier, and his stories more interesting.
-
The story of rising (and falling) movie star Vince (Adrian Grenier) and his entourage of high-living pals is as amusing as ever; and as the show matures so, ever so slightly, do the characters.
-
Any anxiety (real or imaginary) makes for some compelling television.
-
Tracking the many ways in which reality converges with fiction is one of the principal pleasures of Entourage, which otherwise explores some pretty well-worn territory in its new season.
-
It's still not more than disposable fluff, and I expect Vince to get his stardom back by season's end, but by making his career a metaphor for what the show had become, Entourage for the first time is more entertaining than Vince's life must be.
-
It's less aimless and has renewed momentum--even if its plots tread familiar ground.
-
The show's polished exterior, however, has seldom scratched the surface hard enough to find anything deeper underneath. Vince's career odyssey back from "Medellin" could provide just that--the season-long hook to make a show already on Hollywood's A-list match that with an actual A-game.
-
As a whole, the dramedy is much more enjoyable than it was last season, which was a bloated and repetitive mess.
-
There’s something actually at stake this season, and the art of the deal has never looked nastie
-
Everything in the season 5 premiere feels stale. [5 Sep 2008, p.70]
-
Things are a little perkier for the characters at the start of this season than when we last left them.
-
Entourage is officially treading water, and the truth is it was never a great show to begin with.

ArianoANov 19, 2009Best season yet. Ari is getting his big break into the Hollywood business. The lines are smarter and more refined. It is a A+ show.
