It’s a thorough history of the effort to restrict and shame Black mobility, and it’s a must-watch.
-
"Driving" is cool, methodical and comprehensive, but does leave open that one question: How would you feel? ... Essential viewing.
-
An extremely rich and detailed PBS documentary, exploring the long history of restrictions on Black movement, from slavery through the present. As part of that journey, the two-hour film addresses not only modern-day issues of policing but deeper ones about the American Dream denied.
-
Driving While Black is very good and does what a good dissertation or grad school essay should do: take some information you probably know and some details you probably didn't know, and reframe them within an argument that starts small but grows to encompass the entire history of the country.
