I suspect most of the critics are not a fan of the movie Legion and did not watch it prior to watching this show. You have to have watched it to understand what is going on here. I think it did a great job of picking up on this and creating the world as it could be after that war.
I hope they continue to make this show as it is very original and nothing else like it on TV.

This is a stunning TV series with a dark and moody style. It has lush post-apocalyptic visuals without the usual golden hue reserved for the commercial Sci-Fi TV series. Personally I love dark Sci-Fi and this hits the mark without any cheese or unnecessary slow and meaningless dialogue. Although it’s violent and shocking in parts, it can handle itself in being an independent loner without being overly reliant on sex and violence to pull the show into a defined genre. No matter how dire the situation is,,no matter how close to extinction and yet there's still these uber power hungry villains.. Makes NO sense. Even a Stalin or Himmler would handle it better..whatever, that's Hollywood..

I like it.. I want aliens! And I want to find a way to harvest the angels DNA for their flight!!

The story line is one I have contemplated ever since I was a child and I continue to find it quite provocative. Over the past few years, the tv series 'Supernatural' has also been incorporating this theme of God abandoning man and angels embroiled in a lethal battle over mankind's ultimate destiny. Thoroughly enjoying the Dominion series and have recommended it to friends and family. Anxiously awaiting tomorrow night's 5th episode. Hope its here to stay for years to come - I AM a FAN. Expand

I am very openly religious but I can appreciate the fictional nature of this program. When Angels rain Hell on Earth - the result can be Heavenly for viewers.... Dominion

I've never listened to critics. They're often biased by the sheer fact that the word 'critic' is in their job description. Instead of looking for the potential of a show they 'look' for things they feel are 'wrong' with it. Dominion was not given a fair shake with the 'paid critics' because they only saw the pilot episode. Likewise, it's doubtful that any of them ever watched the movie on which the show is based 'Legion'.

The viewers to whom this show is geared at science fiction/fantasy fans who are the most likely to have seen Legion and therefore have a working knowledge about the premise. BUT the pilot as well as episode 2 were 'building' episodes meant to give those viewers who didn't know about Legion an understanding of what was going on.

And considering the critics who gave initial reviews of the show were only given the pilot episode to work with - they missed half the 'building' of the show. It is not a 'new villain to fight or new disease to conquer' show. Dominion is an epic story that requires viewers to keep up with what's going on lest they fall behind in the lore of the show.

It's a series where passionate viewers watch and rewatch episodes looking for Easter eggs hidden in the dialogue (of which there are many) - some of which carried over deep into the second season.

Sadly, Dominion was cancelled by SyFy Network after 2 seasons even though its ratings were actually quite good ... despite the fact that its time slot was changed more than once. Had SyFy not tried to 'course correct' their line up Dominion as well as other shows that were cancelled at the end of 2015 would never have seen a drop in numbers. (Again, the drop was minimal when one takes into consideration factors like time slot changes, DVR viewing, OnDemand viewing, international viewership, etc...)

Dominion has a massive global fan base.

If you've not see the series - give it a shot. You'll find out how exciting it can be when Heaven raises Hell on Earth.

Vaun Wilmott is the creative mind behind Dominion as well as one of the Executive Producers.

The highly negative reviews that I've seen make no sense and reek of "jumping on the cool kid bandwagon" of bashing anything coming out of syfy because of the drop in quality in their recent endeavors.

After having watched this show, I'm convinced that all they did was go off of the "legion" movie this series' universe is based on, and assumed that this was going to be a continuation of the movie's concepts but on the same level as one of those cheap syfy shows or weekend movies.

I can happily say that it is not. The cast portrays their roles very well, whether they be seasoned well known actors or not. The special effects are used sparingly and convincingly, which is the best formula for success where effects are concerned in my opinion.

The pacing was done incredibly well, and I hope they maintain that pace for the rest of the show, my attention is usually very hard to keep, and I wasn't ever bored during the ep.

This is something I can't stress enough, I am so incredibly tired of shows that do nothing but build hype and take 2-3 eps just to introduce characters.

I'm not one to write an essay for a review, but I will say one last thing, I found it incredibly dishonest and unprofessional that some of the "professional" reviews focused on trivial things like the British dude, Anthony Head, not using his English Accent but instead using an American one (even though he does a really amazing job with his American persona). Seeing "professional critics" give a ZERO based on such considerations is what made me scoff and give this show a 9 even though I would have given it probably an 8.

I always loved the mythos behind angels, and I was naturally excited about this show when I heard about it, so imagine my surprise when I enjoyed the show immensely even though they really didn't focus or show too much "angel stuff" like one might have expected. I would have expected that to make me enjoy the show less, but instead I found myself satisfied and wanting more at the same time.

I think this show really has a great potential going forward, and I hope that as many people as possible see what I saw in this show.

The writers do seem sort of magnetically drawn to jumping in head first into the homosexual side of the pool so that's probably going to alienate people that just don't want that shoved in their faces everywhere they look. There's a matriarchal city-state of lesbians, they've already pointed out one of the male soldiers isn't interested in women, they're working on luring one of the female soldiers over the the female dominated city-state, etc. So if you're fascinated by all that you'll certainly get your fill. For the hetero guy though, they do pack the show with very good looking women to try to balance things. There's a decent amount of action, plenty of intrigue, and the visuals have been good to this point.

So in summary, it's worth the watch when there's nothing better to be doing than watching T.V.

I don't think it's fair to call this TV serie a flop when it does apply to your own taste in series because if we focus on the genre, it fits perfectly! The way it is written, and the storyline of the series meets in my opinion the standards of a very accomplished Sci-Fi TV series. The direction, the performances, the dialogue, and the special effects are everything but poorly! Therefore, I would advise everyone who finds it a waste of time to pay attention to the genre, it is written from, instead of judging Dominion by comparing it with totally different kinds of tv series.
Besides next to Supernatural I can't recall any other recent or well known TV series that has been dealing with Angels let alone making them the main subject of the story on a much larger and a different scale that has not been dealt with before in a tv series.

It is far too camp but takes itself too seriously, a combination that doesn't work. From Dusk Till Dawn was camp and cheeky, and ran with it. This mess however, is just the wrong combination of ridiculous and mediocre, suffering from an identity crisis. If this were Kings (where Christopher Egan was also the lead, and which also had biblical inspiration) the soap opera elements would work, but they were just not able to pull it off here.

The acting: I'm not really sure whether it's bad acting or just lazy directing. They seem lost and painted in broad strokes (so to speak) and seem like bit parts in a high school production aka Eragon (zing! Christopher Egan also appears in that one). There seems to be a "let's wing it" attitude towards the characters in this show.

The actor playing Michael must have realized that this is a ridiculous show, and is just dying inside every time he has a scene. Otherwise, he would follow Tom Mison's (Sleepy Hollow) and Stephen Amell's (Arrow) lead and fully embrace the character, warts and all.

    Lens flare.

What is with the ending; torches burning on the walls of a stone temple. What is this the 1980's, when people still found Indiana Jones cool?

    Utterly disappointed.

This is bad: so bad in fact, the combination of terrible acting, "plot" and theme can't drag the resultant mess into the light of campy fun.

I'm not in the mood to go into how bad this series is, it's just too bad for me to even try and explain. This is a sign that the Syfy channel needs

Legion was a good movie, perfect cast and great story line. The show Dominion is stupid, it could of been so much better if the writers sticked to the original story line.

Best show ever. Even better than Game of Thrones. I saw it once and was hooked. Now I have binge watched it about 20 times and I can't live without it.

Dominion is a great show! The second season is just amazing. New places, new characters, more stories from the past of the "old" characters. Many valuable flashbacks which help to understand the characters and the history of the Extermination War. Definitely worth watching!

Is this the best show on TV? No, but it certainly is not the worst. It has a nice looking cast and a really neat concept. It will need to add a bit more mystery to the Angels, so we see them as supernatural beings. Some of the critics are being unfair in their reviews, as they are always looking for the next Citizen Kane. It is fun to watch after a hard day. I say give it a chance.

This isn't a great tv series, but it has some potential and is becoming more interesting and fun to watch, so I give it a chance. I wish it would be more like The Prophecy trilogy thou.

I love this show. I have the show made to record and I keep all the shows. Please do not cancel this show. I would like to see Michael happy and in love. The characters are likable. This show has a lot of promise in it. The characters can become more complex. Keeps you guessing. There were some major surprises. In that last scene, I never saw it coming. I would like to see how it all plays out.

This show is so current with views and revision of what religion and God or gods are. The dialogues are not splendid as for example in "True Detectives" or such, but just because of the enigmatic plot it seems it doesn't affect the storyline. I enjoy watching Dominion and I hope this show continues.

This is a interesting show. I would like to see it continues on to Season 2 at least. I like the actors but I feel that the hero is a little overshadowed by the angels.

Loved the show. Should be renewed for more seasons. The story has potential to develop in many directions and the end of first season left us all wondering :)

Wow! Season 2 promises to be even more epic that Season 1! Thanks to the talented cast and crew for drawing me into this amazing universe! These are not the angels you met in Sunday school, nor are they Supernatural's Castiel. This is a unique, thoughtful, sexy, exploration of human emotions, history, actions, and relationships. Kudos!

Dominion is a pleasant change from what has become the norm of television entertainment. It's unique and captivating. The plot twists keep the viewer guessing at every turn. Characters are extremely well crafted and portrayed by an excellent cast of talented actors.

The story starts out a little slow as background is established, but once it gets rolling there is no stopping it. Action.

The story starts out a little slow as background is established, but once it gets rolling there is no stopping it. Action. Intrigue. Romance. Good vs. Evil... well maybe not as straight forward as that. Vaun Wilmott has taken a step away from that stereotype, and given us characters that are various shades of gray making them much more believable and easier to relate to.

Dominion is the best new show that you aren't watching so do yourself a favor and correct that as soon as possible.

I'm really liking this show. Love how it's based on the Legion movie (which I loved too). Not as scary but suspenseful and interesting. Better than all the reality tv crap that is out there right now and getting overloaded with the cops or crime shows. I hope they keep this show going.

Thank god I never paid attention to critics! This show is great, the story is quite original and sufficiently complex to not lose interest. It is very promising so far though a little too wordy at times . I personally hated the movie Legion that I found poorly acted and pretty much botched actually, without substance or appealing characters. The show could not be further apart from that.Thank god I never paid attention to critics! This show is great, the story is quite original and sufficiently complex to not lose interest. They seem to forget that the show had only eight episodes to show the extend of what we can expect which might explained this feeling of missing parts and incoherence we can have at times. Anyhow I have all confidence that we can expect even more from this show in the future, reminding ourselves that critics only see shows and movies as a prowess, a demonstration, a job well done and not as entertainment or things "normal" people can feel a connection with Expand

To say that I have been anticipating the second season of this show would be an understatement. I have been really excited to see what the showrunner has in store for us after a slightly uneven first season.

Rest assured, Vaun Wilmott and his team seem to have learnt from some of the missteps last season and have poured awesome into what is promising to be a ridiculously amazing second

From the moment the first episode starts, I was struck by the cinematic feel. Gone were the sometimes claustrophobic sets from S1, characters were now on the road, we were learning more about the world and interacting more intimately with the characters.

Deran Sarafian has done an outstanding job with the direction of the episode. Everything feels grand and gorgeous. The quality of the show feels heightened as we dive right into where we left off last season.

Thus far, I have not been disappointed by the direction the show is taking. I am super excited about the rest of the season.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The idea of the show is not easily taken by certain audience, but for me it seems to be interesting. The metaphors used (angels) attract attention of everyone, because in Dominion they are not cutie-blondie creatures living in haven and singing carols, but are rough and furious ones. Show creators have taken the risk of creation such characters and I think they've done well. Expand

I watched the movie Legion when it came out and barely remembered it, so I thought the show would be just as forgettable. Now I am midway through the second season. The production values are pretty good for a show on Syfy. There is a bit of action and a lot of story. There are multiple story lines going on at the same time so if you just have the show as background you will get lost. Some of the storylines are a bit over the top but the show is fantasy/scifi and that is expected. Every episode has major events going on.The writers do a good job in making the Dominion world very interesting. The characters for the most part are all very interesting. The "Good guys" are just as engaging as the "Bad guys". I watch a lot of scifi shows and rarely get surprised by plot twists. There were a few times I was surprised at what happen or couldn't believe the characters did that. Someone in the reviews mentioned that the show is like cheaper version of The walking Dead but with angels and demons and the show is pretty much that but with a lot more political intrigue. Expand

Absolutely one of my favorite shows. I can not believe it was cancelled. Tom Wisdom as Michael is simply fantastic. I really wanted to see what happens next. I hope SyFy comes to their senses and renews it, if for only to conclude it for us fans.

The series has an atmosphere very worked and more than acceptable special effects. The cast does an outstanding job , with special attention to the hypnotic beauty of Shivani Ghai . I 'm about to start the second season and I know it will not continue. A penalty for all fans of this fiction so interesting.

Dominion is the best TV show I've seen in the last 20 years. Compelling storyline, creative authors, amazing actors...Dominion improves with each episode! And there is still so much to explore in Dominion!
I think it's destined to become a cult series.

It's a lot of exposition to get through, and that's just what writer Vaun Wilmott and director Scott Stewart, the latter of whom also worked on "Legion," do--they get through it, with way too much talking and not nearly enough bodies exploding into acid.

When Dominion isn’t preoccupied with filling in its portentous back story, it provides some capably filmed action and a higher grade of acting than usual for this kind of show.

SyFy routinely demonstrates that today’s tricks have gotten too easy, which is why Dominion feels like it is unintentionally telling a separate story of a world in which humanity is held captive by quickie CGI.
