The passions of “Dead Pixels” are funny, and the dialogue by creator Jon Brown (whose “Loaded” was also about gaming) is edgy and tart—the good lines are even more frequent than the bleeped-out vulgarities, which are easy enough to figure out. Given all the censoring, it seems an odd choice for The CW, but a very welcome one.

It is biting in its critiques about gamers and the gaming world without ever taking an offensive stance towards its characters.

We’re a bit concerned that the main characters in Dead Pixels aren’t going to rise above how pathetic they are in the first episode. But the episode was funny enough (despite the bleeps) that we have hope that these people will be shown to have a life beyond just an MMORPG.

Though I find it boring as can be, my kids enjoy watching YouTube videos of other people playing video games. I suppose “Dead Pixels” might be for those entertainment consumers – and those alone.
