    Fantastic series. Time travel and tense thriller through and through. Series planned out and written perfectly. And keeps asking questions and insight into life, fate, desire, actions, past, future, and the meaning of our actions.

    Dark is a German language science fiction thriller.

    The story is complex and requires complete attention of the viewer in order to follow the plot.

    Time travel shows always have plot holes in them, but if you can look past that there is a suspenseful, clever story here.

    This may not even be the best season in the entire series, but it presents a good introduction to all of the nearly 75 characters in the entire series without shuffling and getting lost in the plot itself.

    My first ever review for a tv series.It was fantastic i just finished season 1 will see season 2 & 3 very soon.I must say this is the best tv series by far.I have watched other series like Game of thrones Breaking Bad The Witcher Vikings but this is best so far.The dark theme of this series really gets into you addicted to it.Every actor gave their best the story cinematography directionMy first ever review for a tv series.It was fantastic i just finished season 1 will see season 2 & 3 very soon.I must say this is the best tv series by far.I have watched other series like Game of thrones Breaking Bad The Witcher Vikings but this is best so far.The dark theme of this series really gets into you addicted to it.Every actor gave their best the story cinematography direction everything was near perfect.The background score & music deserves special praises for sure.If u like blend of sci-fi/thriller/horror exciting tv shows then don't even dare to miss this one.Must watch.… Expand

    A wonderful show, the best show/movie about time travel, the story is deep, the soundtrack is amazing and the characters are fantastic.

    One of the best serie and plot ever made it .the good thing is you absolved so greats things of this serie about the past, the present, the future is incredible how intelligent it is . Absolutely outstanding I'm wordlessly. Well done

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my second time watching the show (I'm watching in preparation for the third season) and it is so good. If they land the third season this might end up being my favourite show of all time. Seriously everything is fantastic but I must give a shout-out to the casting (for characters with a 33 year age gap they literally look like they're exactly the same person but aged), the sound design and music, and the set design.

    I seriously think that of this was an English language programme it'd get so much more praise. It's so underwatched. Please I implore you that if you have any doubts about this show then ignore them - it won't disappoint you.    … Expand

    And yes, in the end 'Dark' is right with the phrase "Everything is connected". For his plot, for his great cast, for his production and photography work, etc. All this comes together to make a remarkable series that involves 100% of the spectator's mind.

    Surprisingly, I had a hard time with search engine to find this title in the base... Despite this, I was expecting something a little bit different but I am not dissapointed, it was worth watching. I just can't decide on my rating... Maybe I'll be sure in next 33 years. ;) More mature than Stranger Things. Those desaturated colours are an amazing choice for this matter. Amazing atmosphere!

    I don't understand how anyone can like this show. It's horrible. It's probably the single worst show I've ever watched on Netflix. Nothing the characters do make any sense. Many of the things they do have absolutely nothing to do with the story, they're just filler. The show feels edited by a failing youtube crew. Every scene is slowing zooming. Every few moments they play the thud ofI don't understand how anyone can like this show. It's horrible. It's probably the single worst show I've ever watched on Netflix.     Beginning to watch Dark I thought to receive German film adaptations of Stranger Things. But already from the first series I understood that it is not children's history in the eighties. Though there is also the 80th. Dark is much more adult, is more gloomy also than realistichny. And the most important - here is not present pronounced positive characters, all as in life. The first season very much was pleasant to me, there is even more first season of Stranger Things. The only shortcoming - an ending, it is absent upon. A lot of things were left for later, I understand what needs to be removed and the 2nd season, but many subject lines just tore off.     I was very surprised at the critic score for this show considering I expected it to be higher what with all the characters in the show feeling like absolute real and relatable people.
    All though I would not blame anyone if they were to lower their score a couple of points considering the climax which was not horrible but I felt it a bit too anti-climatic.

    That being said some of the music, editing, lighting, cinematography, locations, sets and many other technical aspects of the show were executed almost flawlessly, IMHO.
    I already praised the acting but I would like to again stress how much I related to almost everyone, male, female or child.
    I also Love how they kept the sci-fi elements of the show very minimal and used it as a tether for the plot, character motivations and the excellent writing.
    All in all coming off Stranger Things which I also liked, this show was very refreshing with its focus on the characters rather that the Sci-Fi aspects.
    A High Recommendation from me, and hope for another season with the same team.    … Expand

Though you might go in hoping or expecting another Stranger Things (and I believe the show toys with viewers by presenting that idea initially), but this show features more complex characters, and story than Stranger Things. Dark’s first season is excellent, and I would go so far as to say that it is turning into one of my favorite series of all time.

    I initially decided to watch it based on two things: 1) That it was being called the “German Stranger Things,” and 2) Ben Frost did the score, whom I have previously liked for his ambient and experimental music. I realized after several episodes that the whole Stranger Things comparison is really only a superficial resemblance. Yes, the show does involve the 80’s, a small town, and kids on bikes, but first and foremost this is a show about time travel and a deep family saga. If I had to make any comparison, it really reminded me of Twin Peaks and a William Faulkner novel.

    The acting was top notch (watch in the original German with subtitles), cinematography was artistically haunting and beautiful, score was phenomenal with several new artists that I have discovered thanks to the show, and it gives heavy weight to the philosophy of time, causality, and existentialism. If any of that sounds good to you, do yourself a favor and watch this. If you are looking for more of a blockbuster thriller or gorefest, then this is not for you.    … Expand

    From Germany, a mystery spiral story with assorted items about science of time and space. Every episode is more and more creepier and intriguing., with a collapsing ending and unsolved questions. Shall we wait a second season?

    I was mind blown by this show. I expected similarities with Stranger Things but that wasn't the case at all. I have no idea why anyone would compare this show with Stranger Things as they deal with completely different subjects with completely different set of dynamics. In my opinion this show stands toe to toe with Stranger Things, and I personally prefer this show over Stranger Things.

Also, watch it if you like when a show treats you like an idiot by doing things like telling you what year it is when it is super obvious every time. Also, do you love dramatic irony?     I really enjoyed this show. I can understand how the masses wouldn't "get it," needed it more spelled out or wouldn't want to invest the time to connect the dots. I think the performances are phenomenal, solid writing, and each episode has some sort of unique hook to it. Really interested in seeing what they do season 2. In a time where each show has some huge gimmick to it, it's nice toI really enjoyed this show. This is my favorite NETFLIX show and just beat out Stranger Things only because the story and character development in Season 1 was absolutely fantastic. The acting is absolutely superb.     The story writing is absolutely fantastic and spell bounding. It is about a time travel that is happening in a small town that is by a nuclear power plant. And you have to have pay very close attention to each CHARACTER!

    A consistently engaging genre effort in its own right, employing unsettling production values and an enormous cast of well-drawn characters for a narratively splintered investigation into questions of fate and free will. ... Come for the surface similarities to Stranger Things, stay for the unique time-travel insanity.

    It’s beautiful, mysterious, and a little bit maddening, and you’d want to take in every little second of the show even if it wasn’t in German with English subtitles, because every aspect of it matters.
