I'm not hugely into Anime, but definitely into Cyberpunk. I love the world and 2077, and this relatively short Anime is like a love letter to all that. That being said I think the Anime itself could've had like 2-4 more episodes, because theI'm not hugely into Anime, but definitely into Cyberpunk. I love the world and 2077, and this relatively short Anime is like a love letter to all that. That being said I think the Anime itself could've had like 2-4 more episodes, because the pacing is through the roof, blink and you've missed at least three important story beats. Also I know it's supposed to be a tragic story and it manages to be just that in the first few episodes, but it just gets more and more dissonant with furthering episodes. The last episode especially was just a juxtaposition of goofy stunts with some of the most heartwrenching images you've seen all year. Definitely something you must see, if you like Cyberpunk or dark Sci-Fi in general, I just think that it could've been a lot better with a few tweaks here and there.… Expand

This probably has to be one of the greatest TV shows released this year. Not only does it probably have the best art style out of any animated TV series since Arcane, but it has one of the best stories for an anime that I've seen. Incredible story, one of the best I have seen in anime so far. Great style, great characters. Many, many references to the game world. Unfortunately, this show feels like it ends far too quickly, it feels like potentially 3 seasons worth of story was just crammed into one season of 10 episodes and as you watch it, you just feel like everything went by far too fast. I can't help it but desire more from this show as they really managed to do something unique here.

Hopefully they make some kind of "director's cut" type of version in the future which fills in some of the missing gaps within the story.… Expand

Best anime I have watched in recent years.

I love the Cyberpunk universe. Gave me a bit of a Ghost in the Shell nostalgia. My only disappointment is that it was so short. They have done very well to condense the show into 10 episodes, butBest anime I have watched in recent years.

The anime is just perfect in universe thanks to CDPR, Night City is just the perfect sci-fi city for a game and an anime, the things that are cyberpunk, and thanks to Trigger Studio it's also perfect in characters, with their personality and their character development, like Lucy starting as a cold person to end protecting David, and Rebecca starting just being a friend to david to end protectim him like Lucy and also accepting that for David she is just a friend, in character design is more personal, but for me is perfect for the cyberpunk aesthetics and vibe, the plot is not his best part, but its also good until the end, wich i think its a little fast, but not bad, and in every moment the plot makes sense, even if he has some coincidences, but with out them we would not have the anime, and they arent a lot and are definitely possible. I want to end it by telling that it also shows how the society is, with the rich crushing the poor, with the wars between people and corporations, almost every time ignoring the consecuences for other people, like with Gloria's dead, and it also shows how unfair life is.
Would I recomend "Cyberpunk: edgerunners"? Yes, but only for every person how likes the sci-fi and action genre, ignorin if you dont like an anime or u dont like cartoons, because it doesnt matter anymore with some cartoons being for adults like "Rick and Morty" or "bojack horseman" and life actions like the future "The little mermaid" being for kids.… Expand

It's a simple story, but it's told well. And together with the good writing comes the fantastic animation word of Studio Trigger, which really makes the characters come to life. Not to mention the amazing action scenes.

My only complaint would be that there isn't more of it, though I guess that's what the somewhat disappointing Cyberpunk 2077 game would be for.… Expand

I'd like to start with saying that I never liked the "anime graphic". I'm just not a fan of that kind of drawing. But somehow, maybe because of other positive aspects I just forgot about that or maybe I even liked that graphic, thatI'd like to start with saying that I never liked the "anime graphic". Lets continue with postives for now. I am suprised how well the serial shows reality of cyberpunk universe. Of course it could have been better, but showing more would need some weird plot jumps. The poorness unfair world even with your hardest trying you still can fail if you didn't born rich. This shows sad reality of universe. The second most important plot of realism in serie is the danger of cybernetics of forgeting where are the human borders. I really like way how main characters were shown. Lack of information for most of them is also part of realism, job is job you dont need to know more. What I like by charater creation mostly are three main protagonists D. L. R. I really like how they made them. How they made their emotions. Music is absolutely awesome, thats something which always helped CDPR. Next thing that I like is very young and dumb thinking of catching dreams as they are real. Its something that some people believe which also adds realism to story. I like fights even if they are a bit too gore. So if that was all I would give 9/10 but sadly there are some minuses. Time skips, I really have problem with that. I can't keep up with how fast is sometimes story or how slow it is. Sometimes it doesn't show to much sometimes it shows too much. Also it makes me harder to have bond with characters in show, which I started liking after maybe 7th episode which is about 70% of serie. The static moments where we are watching only talking not doing feels very weird like my computer just freeze and I am looking at one scene. After all of that i would say that 7/10 is good grade but the emotions that were summoned after ending made me literally forget about some bad things, not every show know how to do emotional ending. 8/10 worth watching… Expand

I'm going to be honest I'm not much of an anime enjoyer/watcher but this one got into my mind quite well after seeing it on Netflix for the first time. After finishing it I had quite mixed emotions from awe to a bit of sadness. Just watching a teenage boy's (David, main character) life crumble apart from one accident really got it & from there on it just went downhill. After seeing new characters in there the chemistry in them was actually pretty good like they worked together in some efficient ways. I feel like the ending was just something to expect though & it wasn't surprising at all which makes my score head down to a 9. Overall it's probably one of the only anime's I've watched and this one will probably go down for me as one of the best I have seen ever.… Expand

Après le jeu (si controversé…) voici la série… animée ! en 10 épisodes survitaminés (c’est le moins qu’on puisse dire) l’on y suit le parcours agité et brutal d’un petit jeune aux dents longues, devenu mercenaire quasiment à l’insu de sonAprès le jeu (si controversé…) voici la série… animée ! en 10 épisodes survitaminés (c’est le moins qu’on puisse dire) l’on y suit le parcours agité et brutal d’un petit jeune aux dents longues, devenu mercenaire quasiment à l’insu de son plein gré, par la force des choses…

Comme dans le jeu, l’on retrouve cet esprit rebelle, anti-corporatiste (le créateur du jeu de plateau, bien avant le jeu vidéo, était déjà -bien entendu- un communiste) et de fait cette diabolisation permanente de l’autorité et des corporations en genéral et en particulier. Tout cela manque évidemment de nuances mais la série -excessive à tous points de vue- ne fait pas dans la dentelle et fait penser à un certain Akira (!)… d’une certaine façon bien sûr.

La noirceur et les trahisons, l’ultra-violence, les illusions et les rêves brisés sont donc légion ici et en mettent plein la tête. Quelques trous dans la narration mettent à mal cette histoire un brin tarabiscotée mais l’ensemble tient encore la route. On peut en dire autant du montage nerveux et de l’action souvent brouillonne… ainsi que de l’animation globalement… assez affreuse à suivre !

Car en effet, ce Cyberpunk est réalisé en 2d…! et on peut compter les couleurs : en 2d 32 couleurs environ, selon la situation, parfois un peu plus. Peut-être. Voilà qui est décevant. Et laid. Heureusement, les personnages sont très bien écrits et se révèlent tous très attachants, y compris les méchants de l’histoire !

Enfin, last but not least, le fan service est généreux pendant toute la série et bourré de clins d’oeil… un régal si vous avez joué au jeu évidemment, sinon, toutes ces références vous passeront par dessus la tête. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is just wow.... Night City with its tragic, bittersweet, and lonely depressing endings. The animation is supreme, story telling and progression is great, colorful visualization giving off that Cyberpunk Night City vibe, the atmosphere always feel like its not stopping for anyone nor does it care if you exist in it, the way they make you feel helpless in Night City with the events that occur, the unexpected moments, and that ending scene of Lucy catching a glimpse of David with momentary happiness to her realization that he isn't there. Takes a deep breath, and embraces the warmth of the sun, that David can no longer provide while the haunting music halts with the camera of her facing away towards the sun and cuts to black. Heart wrenchingly painful to see. 10/10 Night City is more about the reality of facing megacorporation, power hungry greed and backstabbers who only lookout for themselves.

As much as I would love to see a 2nd season to this, I think this is also a great ending. I won't lie that I am very curious to what Lucy plans on doing from where it ended.... Will she stay as a permanent resident on the Moon?

PS: The low ratings have no idea what they are talking about, tldr mostly complaining about nudity (?) disappointment (?) and no real critique just complaining, seriously nothing they say have any value behind it. It's just "me no like = bad :reasoning = me no like."… Expand

I love the game, and the universe, and this really respects the lore. Beautifully done, Netflix, you keep doing the good job you started with Arcane. Please don't f up Assassin's Creed!

It's been a while since I binged an anime in 2 days and this one left a big impact on me after I watched it. Its a terrible adaptation from the videogame Cyberpunk 2077. For mostly two reasons: first it has no dilds in it. Second, It is very good. Studio triggers you brought back life to cyberpunk . You have to watch it in dub and always prefer subs to dubs . Come on they have Giancarlo Esposito who is Gus. Badass opening great cast of characters

I want to start by saying I am not a huge fan of Anime but love the classics from the genre because a good story doesn’t have to be told on any one specific medium. So, it came by as no surprise after my watching that the studio responsible for the animation was the same that created Gurren Lagan and Kill la Kill. This is a must watch for the Cyberpunk genre! The story can be fully viewed in one evening and will feed you a steady diet of muscular lore rich story. This show is packed with neon-soaked lights, hardcore violence and corruption as it paints a very accurate picture of Night City, the world introduced in CD Project Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. While I was a fan of the game, I thought that it was “Ok” in most categories but was wildly aesthetic and detailed. David’s beginning and end was synonymous with V in the game, from low and in trouble to flying high and in charge. The parallel between the characters are subtle but David’s story is more relatable. The scoring is a combination of pieces from the game and some other originals. It is well placed and emotional at times. By the end of the first episode, I was in goosebumps, feeling the heat and sting of the tragedy that David and many other street kids have succumbed to. My verdict, fan of anime or not… This is a stellar watch and deserves a second season. While the second season in no way can include a majority of the original cast due to the ending, I think this could be a great medium to retell original Cyberpunk stories each season in Night City. New protagonist from either the Corpo, Nomad or Street Kid classes that are presented in the game. David was the Street Kid story we deserved in the game… Who’s next?… Expand

La música la animación la historia todo en la serie la trama que maneja es increíble y te deja de tal manera pegado a la serie y con un final muy profundo y desgarrador sin duda una obra de arte 10/10

The most fast-paced show I've ever watched. Beautifully animated and voice-acted. Would highly recommend it if you're a fan of the franchise. If you're not into Cyberpunk I'd still give this show a watch. It's worth your time.
