[Host Lauren Riihimaki] is a delight, presenting both the contestants and some DIY tips for viewers with a tremendous amount of polish — something the series as a whole sort of lacks as it's riddled with a slew of weird jump cuts that interrupt the flow of the 30-minute episodes. Then again, this is aimed at younger viewers who are used to the frenetic pacing of Disney and Nickelodeon game shows.

Riihimaki, with her candy-colored aesthetic and seemingly endless store of energy, makes a perfect host. The kids are fantastic, too. ... But parents might cringe at how stylized the ultra-bright show is and how coached the contestants can sound in on-camera interviews.

The show moves too fast to be really moving — there is tension, as there always will be when a clock is ticking, but little drama. ... I stand impressed by these self-possessed young maestros of papier-mâché, scissors and construction paper.

A children’s reality competition — one that would be at home on Nickelodeon. ... HBO Max waters down the brand with shows like this.
