Season two starts slow and seems not to shift into gears quick enough like Season 1. A novel way of looking at good v evil and the grey area in between. The teen romance is a bit much for sure , the idea of Sam being able to fight is ridiculous and the mob fights are hilariously unrealistic. But it overcomes these minor shortcomings to be a very entertaining show with a lot more substance than the majority of stuff churned out. Expand

I was afraid, really afraid that season 2 would be a complete failure, due to the High expectations. It would be also very normal, happens to a lot of shows... but.. to my surprise, it was not only a success, it also brought much more inside, and it was even a bit darker.
Me, who is in the Film business, know exactly what fiction is and what not, but to say, that i felt in love COMPLETELY

Me, who is in the Film business, know exactly what fiction is and what not, but to say, that i felt in love COMPLETELY with the Cast, showed me that the writers, producers, etc, knew what they were doing. And I am so thankful for it.
We live in a Television Era, with a lot of high quality images, but very low story/script, and I am so pissed that they are creating constantly failures, and that they cancel shows, on and on, but with this Season 2, they gave me peace "inner Peace", and showed me, that you can make television with a high quality in Story. Thanks for that.
The bad point, I guess, lol, I need to wait AGAIN, another whole year.. because the Ending, was far more than just a cliffhanger... :p

Again, I find Cobra Kai, the dramedy series that is a follow-up to the Karate Kid movies, to be a surprisingly good and original show. William Zabka shines as Johnny Lawrence, as he is conflicted over the old teachings of the Cobra Kai dojo and being honorable, between tough and being a jerk.

Martin Kove returns as love-to-hate him karate instructor John Kreese. They did the character right when they brought him back. Kove looks pretty good for a guy in his seventies and actually tougher than either Johnny Lawrence or Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Over the years Kreese has shifted from an anger machine to a more subtly sinister presence. He's basically Senator Palpatine as he cleverly manipulates Johnny and his students.

The rest of the cast shines again portraying a group of distinctive characters in a world where no one is completely wrong or right. Particularly liked Jacob Bertrand's Hawk as he continues down a dark path.

Karate is always a main point of the show, but they really kick it into high gear with hands down their best fight scene. You'll know it when you see it.

I did like the first season slightly more. I kind of felt that Johnny and Daniel's rivalry echoed the same beats from last season too similarly. The character of Aisha (played by Nicole Brown), Johnny's student, felt underused in the second half of this season. There is also a new supporting comic character who, while funny at times, feels too wedged in. (The showrunners were behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle and they leaned on their comic roots a little too much here.)

The season finale is an emotional doozy, but I felt the showrunners were trying a little too hard.

Overall, I'm still very interested in the journey of Johnny, Daniel and all the rest and I'm interested in seeing where this is going.

The Characters in a intense moment, especially from the previous Karate Kid movie. LaRusso does a good job at mentoring his students, while Cobra Kai really are teaching students the ways of destruction. The End of Season 2 was a really intense moment, thought it would end in a total disaster, but let us see what will the outcome be for Season 3.

Season 2 is more dramatic and serious compared to the previous season it's overall good but could had been better. I wish there were more than 10 episodes and with less scenes about teen love which made Season 2 feel a bit like a teen soap opera. It's not perfect but i enjoy it and now i am looking forward for Season 3

Following their victory at Under 18 All Valley Karate Championships, Johnny begins to question Cobra Kai’s ‘win at all costs’ philosophy. Meanwhile LaRusso searches for a way to respond to Cobra Kai's dominance.

Cobra Kai can veer into soap opera territory on occasions, but this second season retains the humour and knowing 80’s winks that has thus far made it such an entertaining watch.

Season 2 of Cobra Kai picks up where the last season left off and continues the feud of the two rivaling Karate dojos culminating in easily the best fight of the series.

Still good. First season was better but this season two do not disappoint. This season shred some light on John Kreese past and his relation with Johnny. Also expand other bonds of the first season (Johnny-Miguel, Miguel-Samantha and other).
    It's really good.

Still reeling from that crazy finale, but overall this was a superb follow-up to season one. The characters just keep growing, and the story is constantly engaging. I'm just so glad I caught up in time for season three's premiere this Friday (and based on the trailer, it looks like this story is just going to keep going in interesting directions). Cobra Kai is a lot of love for the 80s! I think the new season was brilliant and deeper than the first. An intimate knowledge of the 80s shines through Johnny's character, see his first web search for example in episode 3. Story ain't a rehash of season 1 and focus on a new "season". This show is definitely coming back next year, if only one could hot tube fast forward to that. Cheers

Flawed as this second round may be, “Cobra Kai” remains worthwhile viewing with a slew of conversation starters, though perhaps not the ones that made the series worth recommending the first time around. But it remains entertaining enough to merit a sequel, even if only to find out whose way wins out in the end.

One could wax on (wax off) about these representation issues, but the show’s strength is also its weakness. “Cobra Kai” is simply too accurately a product of that specific ‘80s franchise. Sure, it could change, but why should it? The series remains entertaining despite its flaws, and fortunately it has a hero that negotiates this disconnect between retro mindset and contemporary consciousness.

It’s not until the second-to-last episode that anything approaching the goofball charm and wit of its freshman season arrives, and by then the entire narrative is so weighed down with the baggage of its sudsy dramatics that the show feels less like a witty relaunch of a beloved film, and more like a 2019 version of Beverly Hills, 90210 (but not, you know, the 2019 version of Beverly Hills, 90210), complete with hokey music sequences and soap opera-level plotting.
