    You don't have to be a member of the FBI to enjoy a show about crime. I'm not a foodie, in fact most of the dishes constructed on this show I wouldn't eat since I adhere to a mostly raw vegan diet but I love to watch the culinary creativity of the accomplished chef contestants on this show. I'll admit I probably wouldn't have turned on a Food Network program if it weren't for the female companion(s) in my life who have loved all things food. When I first started watching this show it made me so emphatically stressed out for the competitors that I couldn't enjoy the battle. But after a few episodes I got used to the pressure cooker ambience and it is now my favorite food network program. It's not so much about cooking for me as it is about personalities, human drama and the impressive mental capacities of the amazing culinary wizards on this show who can instantly plan what to make upon opening their basket of mystery ingredients and whip it up before our eyes while the clock is ticking and after the critique of the three food-celebrity judges, face the thrill of surviving the round or the public humiliation of being chopped on a nationally syndicated cable network program watched by their customers, competitors, friends and family. Other Food Networks shows I can appreciate is 'Barefoot Contessa' with the relaxed, confident personality of Ina Garten produced with amazing cinematic beauty. A really great new show 'Sandwich King' features the lovable, entertaining and fun personality of Jeff Mauro direct from the Windy City. His cooking tips and instructions seem like they'd be über useful again if only I weren't a mostly raw vegan. As delicious as these forbidden meals look to me I'm comforted by the 50 or so extra pounds Ina and Jeff each carry around with them as they slather on the butter.… Expand

    I like this show because it's not your "every day" cooking show. These chefs really have to be at the top of their game. In the process of them figuring out what they could make, you are also in the position to have some of your own ideas and measure up against the chefs. The critics are usually really good, too.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very good show, fast paced and interesting to watch. Four chefs are given the opportunity to win ten thousand dollars if they can make it to the end of the episode without getting eliminated. You might think they have it easy, since most are executive and sous chefs, but here's the thing- in a basket of mandatory ingredients they get for each round, there are some pretty crazy things inside that don't necessarily seem appetizing. One round, they may have to use Rocky Mountain Oysters (bison testicles) or pickles in dessert. Bad enough, they only get 20-30 minutes each round. One contestant is eliminated each round after the panel of judges decide their least favorite meal of the round.… Expand

    Being someone who is interested in following their passion in the culinary arts, this show is excellent entertainment and gives the audience contestants that can concoct some of the most astonishing dishes with some of the most seemingly mismatched foods and ingredients. This show brings out the 'A game' in all its culinary contestants.
