Avoiding commercial airlines wherever possible, Boorman explores the different ways to travel over land, sea and air. He uses more than 100 different modes of transport, including container ships, dug-out canoes, solar cars and an elephant. Boorman's first travelling documentary was with his friend, Ewan McGregor, on a motorbike journey from London to New York that created the 2004 show, Long Way Round.
