By season 6 the show has lost its spark. The two leads don't seem to enjoy each other so much anymore. Nathan has gained so much weight it's mind boggling. He's being shot by the camera as if he's a pregnant actress whose character is not supposed to be pregnant. Bottom line. For the best shows, seek out those with the craziest plots. They're fun. The rest are too much like standard cop procedurals. Nothing out of the ordinary. But there are a good few dozen really crazy plots, even a couple in season 6, that are a lot of fun. One day I'll just list all the good ones. If you just watched those particular episodes you'd think of the show as brilliant. Full Review »

For whatever reason the show has gradually lost the 'spark' that marked it above many of the other procedural cop shows currently on TV meaning that a number of the episodes in this sixth season, while still watchable to some degree, don't offer anything that hasn't been seen hundreds of times before in any number of other cop shows.

There are still episodes, such as 'Disciple', In the Belly of the Beast and 'The Way of the Ninja', that demonstrate what the show is capable of at its best but these are a little to few and far between to really make for a completely satisfactory season. Barring a complete drop in quality I'll personally stick with Castle until the end but I won't be too disappointed when it does eventually wrap things up for good.
