Critic Reviews

  1. Carpoolers, despite a few likable cast members and passable jokes, is in so much trouble, it's pulled over, on the shoulder.

Carpoolers is like a flimsy "Saturday Night Live" skit pounded home and running on beyond endurance. Actors sputter their lines, dither and whimper like some 1950s sitcom.
  3. The women here aren’t foils for male inferiority; they’re just dragging the boys down further with their alternately lazy, nutty or emasculating ways.

Carpoolers opted to careen straight into a gender war minefield, with stock male characters looking hapless amid a seeming pack of controlling, lazy, and deceitful women.
  5. Mainly Carpoolers uses the cheap conceit of four guys sharing time in the car (confiding in each other, getting away from their troubles at home) to distract you from the fact this is merely another unfunny comedy of forced antics, cliched jokes and unbelievable characters.

The show is so painfully witless and dull, your daily commute may begin to seem entertaining in comparison.

Carpoolers is shockingly dull and unfunny with Fred Goss shoehorned in an uninspiring role.
  8. Well, a lot of thought and money goes into advertising, and basing a show on characters that emerged from that effort and expense is no more bogus on its face than making up ridiculous excuses for human beings out of thin air, like the men in Carpoolers.

    Carpoolers tanks like the Titanic.

Jerry O'Connell is hilarious (and the only Actor on the show who's work I'm familiar with; AND the reason I first tuned in) - he seems to be having a lot of fun with his 'bad boy' role. ;) The show has a lot of laughs and a lot of potential for more laughs to come; I don't miss an episode. It's a breath of fresh air, amidst all the daily comedy re-runs that play all week long at my house! (Still watch Cheers, Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, According to Jim, Friends, Two and a Half Men, Still Standing, Maude, etc. re-runs for that second layer of comedy - the one you catch the next time you watch the same episode.) Keep authorizing more episodes, ABC - it's the ONLY reason I tune in to your station Tuesday Night. Full Review »
