If there’s one downside to this new season is that you can figure out how most of it will play out just by watching these two episodes, which may feel repetitive to some viewers. But when the formula is so fun and the characters are such a delight to watch, why change it? If the premiere of Season 7 is any indication, we could do much worse than seeing the Nine-Nine get into new antics for the next couple of years.

Admittedly, being inThis season doesn't do too much differently than previous ones. It delivers fun lines and a distinct cast of characters. Admittedly, being in its seventh season there are moments where the show can feel long in the tooth. I feel is getting more and more cartoonishly ingratiating as the show goes on). But, this isn't the show as a whole. There are several particularly memorable episodes, including the finale, and after all these years, the annual Halloween Heist episode is still strong.

I'm particularly glad that the begining episodes didn't go the way I thought they would. Last season's cliffhanger was way too similar to the cliffhanger from season 2. I was afraid that the situation this year would be too close to the beginnings of season 3, not to mention season 4. Luckily, I think the writers realized they had tread this path and went in a different direction. However, the setup for this season was so inconsequential that I don't think it was needed.

One last nitpick: Vanessa Bayer has a recurring role in this. She starts off very promising, but I was disappointed where they went with her.
