If you like Brand, you'll love BrandX, but you might be left wanting.
-
Some of it was compelling and some of it tedious.
-
The result is not all that funny but more interesting than what most stand-up TV programs deliver.
-
Brand X works when Brand doesn't force himself to play with the trappings of the show and he just sticks to the monologue.
-
He gets off a few good lines, but even the fan-based studio audience wasn't much impressed, providing an ocean of silence where the laughter should be, which made the television viewing experience actually uncomfortable at times.
-
If there's any justice, Brand X With Russell Brand will be as quickly forgotten as his blink-and-you-missed-it union with Katy Perry.
-
The star of this ill-conceived show, which also features former congressional policy advisor Matt Stoller as a very uncomfy foil, completely fails to get untracked from halting start to grinding finish.
