In this gripping, pell-mell reboot, all you can do is cross your fingers for her and for the world. But then hope was always Borgen’s renewable resource.
-
The dialogue and plotting remain fast-paced and switch between both Danish and English with as much impressive skill as Knudsen's excellent linguistic abilities. ... One of The most affecting elements of the series, however, remains the struggles of women in power. It's hard to not empathise with Birgitte and Katrine.

Borgen: Power & Glory is a satisfying drama, one that has a lot to say about power, about women and how we’re viewed by society, and about what happens after we reach a certain age. It stands out in a crowded landscape for the way it places women in positions of power and asks them to engage with and react to a patriarchal society that rarely offers them the support they need or the respect they deserve.
-
With much of its principal cast back in the saddle, Borgen: Power & Glory is a welcome return for a terrific Danish political thriller that hasn’t let up the tension since its 2010 premiere.
-
Borgen was never about edge-of-seat excitement. But its slow-burn formula has been wonderfully preserved and Knudsen is a quietly terrifying force of nature as Birgitte.
-
If, like me, you yearn for democratic politics to be carried out with machiavellian sophistication and attention to principle and policy detail – in other words, in a manner inimical to Westminster’s practices – you will agree that it is lovely to have Borgen back. Like a 2022 version of The West Wing, it is a fictional antidote to unbearable reality.
-
Borgen treats its viewers like intelligent adults — but adults who aren’t above light soap opera vibes.
