Blood of Zeus Season 2 effectively molds Greek mythology into a near-operatic exploration of family ties, romantic affairs, and power struggles. While the scope is a bit smaller compared to Season 1’s zoomed-out portrait of Olympus, there’s excitement in getting to more intimately know a flawed deity and siblings with diverging fates.

Heron has come into his own as the hero of Olympus, and watching him grow into much more of a hero than a confused lead who doesn’t know what he’s capable of. That makes for a much more exciting narrative overall, and now that we know more about Heron’s lineage, there’s so much more that can be done with the story’s direction from here.

While there are occasional pacing issues, and events don’t have enough room to breathe in its brief runtime, this second season is still a brutal, sword-and-sandal epic.
