Jun 18, 2023Episode 1 was good, except for being extremely silly.
2 didn't feel like a Black Mirror episode at all. Neither did 4 or 5.
4 and 5 were awful, in fact.
Episode 3 was excellently performed and shot, but there wasn't much to it.
Incredibly disappointing season compared to all the previous. -
Jul 1, 2023Trash. It felt like they asked a bunch of 6th graders to write the show and produced it with a budget of $35,000. No originality, lame and predictable twists which lead to dreadfully boring episode after episode. Don't waste your time if you have even a couple brain cells left, otherwise you can kiss them goodbye afterwards.

Jun 22, 2023These episodes don't have much in common with what I have known Black Mirror for. Seems to be branded as "Black Mirror just to capitalize on the name and not in order to resume the speculative fiction that has been so thoughtful in this great series.

Jun 18, 2023I still remember the first and second season, this is not black mirror for me. This seems some soft ideology propaganda.
-
Jul 2, 2023Black Mirror is a sad reflection of today's streaming entertainment. Gone are the mind bending and nightmarish technological tales, replaced sadly with overlong hollow shells packed with progressive messaging and little else. This season is bad, and as a fan of the the first two seasons, that's a real shame - 2 stars, because the concept for episode one was interesting.
-
Jun 22, 2023Hats off to the creators.
Watching this obvious propaganda made me feel like
I`m actually in an episode of Black Mirror. -

Jun 19, 2023Ep 1: 4/5. I liked the idea, the ending was kinda previsible
Ep 2: 5/5. Very good story, the only superior episode from all 5
Ep 3: 3/5. Predicted what would happen within the first 15 minutes
Ep 4: 1/5. Just bad
Ep 5: 3/5. i liked the first part on the episode, the second part is just for filler -
Jun 25, 2023It's another nail in the coffin.
Only episode 3 was worth watching yet very predictable, the 1 and 4 (female directed, it's a big hint) are the worst of all the seasons, no surprises. -
Jun 16, 2023Ep 1: 3/5. Recursion is cool.
Ep 2: 5/5. Actually good interesting story.
Ep 3: 2/5. Predicted what would happen within the first ten minutes.
Ep 4: 1/5. Don't care.
Ep 5: 1/5. Anti-white racism. -
Jul 1, 2023Joan is awful 6/10
Loch henry 7/10
Beyond the sea 5/10
Mayzwy day 6/10
Demon 79 8/10
6.8/10 Overall
Somewhat disappointed with this season. It leans towards fantasy and horror and away from the titular black mirror of technophobic nightmare scapes from previous seasons (I assume this is because the world itself has slowly become one!). Interesting and entertaining for the most part. -
Jun 16, 2023The most predictable and boring stories. They all could have been cut in half. I mean some of these are as long as a film but have a fraction of the substance necessary for an engaging story.. just cliched and contrite.
-
Jun 16, 2023I was surprised at the 68 after seeing the first two episodes. Sad to hear they had to have a woke one, but that's pretty much required of any franchise these days. And 5 episodes? After how many years? C'mon man, 8 at least.
-
Jun 18, 2023The ideas were fresh 12 years ago. Now they're a bit tired and stale. Nothing dangerous here now.
-
Jun 16, 2023Total and utter disgust at how someone deals with bullies...by torturing them.
Just because someone was bullied when they were young, does not mean they can write a TV show in which there is nothing cathartic to enjoy, just pure joy in seeing people suffer.
Darkness is only seductive if you have not been taught how to look for the light. -

Jul 5, 2023This season has its good moments and weaker moments expanding the theme of black mirror beyond technology
-
Jul 15, 2023Episode 1: kind of funny, but very cynical and silly at the end.
Episode 2: good and tragic.
Episode 3: the best one; makes you wonder about how avatars would be received by society.
Episode 4: the worst one; the supernatural element is dumb.
Episode 5: not bad; it reminded me of Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, but it doesn't fit into Black Mirror. -

Aug 14, 2023I haven't watched the whole season yet, but Demon 79 is one of the most fantastic things I've seen in years and it easily deserves a 10. Whoever wrote it, man. Respect, really, fantastic job. I absolutely love it.
-
Sep 7, 2023Really like how they leaned into horror in this season. I do wish we still had more technology involved, but overall this season was much more interesting and bold than s5

Jul 26, 2023Episodes 1 and 3 are really good. But all other ruins the Black Mirror vector and genre... It's just lost season.

While the new collection isn’t perfect – Black Mirror still has a tendency to get knocked off course by an overload of Hollywood presence – this is an assured return to form: a much tastier geek-noir pick’n’mix.
-
Black Mirror’s new stories are more concerned with changing the show’s reputation as a speculative science-fiction series than with actually critiquing technology.
-
There are familiar (maybe even obvious) themes here: data harvesting, terrifying small print, surveillance by Big Brother. Yet “Joan is Awful” doesn’t succumb to predictable tropes, retaining a winking sense of humour. [The score is the average of the reviews for the five episodes.]
