This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a cute story. I’m such a woman when it comes to my favorite for this season and I can’t help but choose this one.

I love how both the characters AND the tech are the focus. It’s Black Mirror done right. Showing how interesting people adapt to innovation. This ep really shines on the second watch. when you know what’s going on, You can appreciate the actresses performance and how they’re younger but act and talk like older women. Yorkie came off as weird and stiff the first time and it makes perfect sense to me the 2nd time around.

The soundtrack also gives life to the episode as we(
follow Yorkie through the ages trying to reach a love she was denied- very romantic and very easy to root for them. Makes you want to dance along without being cheesy and sappy. The only thing that would have made it better for me...I didn’t like how they had that huge falling out, don’t talk about it and she just decides f**k it I’m going in

They do show her having a think about it as Old Kelly but I think another little conversation with a little action and tension would have been perfect. Without this that big rant about her husband and daughter just doesn’t mean quite as much. One morsel that sums the story up is old Kelly speaking to Greg the male nurse. (Another great small performance. Relatable.I firmly believe all hospitals have at least one Greg) she says “Uploaded to the cloud, sounds like heaven” “I guess” Greg replies neutrally
I hear “Heaven is a place on earth” playing at the end and I feel a warm fuzzy-even as Kelly’s body is being lowered into the ground! I accept death was on the table but at the end- as Yorkie and Kelly dance around, They are placed in the cold recesses of the TCKR building.
That familiar sense of ominous-ness and dystopia creep back in. So much that’s left out that it makes you think:

CAN heaven actually be a place on earth?
