    Creator/writer/director Neil LaBute uses a theatrical style, heavy on dialogue. That works out well both for developing the characters and putting comedy into the situation.

    There’s also such a chilliness to the interactions that while there’s some debate and uncertainty over whether the protagonists will wind up together, there’s less reason to care. That said, the show represents a credible twist on the familiar romantic-comedy notion of characters being drawn to each even when they shouldn’t be.

    Refreshingly real. In fact, so much so, that initially the steady, fairly downbeat vibe feels almost slightly unbearable. But it becomesRefreshingly real. In fact, so much so, that initially the steady, fairly downbeat vibe feels almost slightly unbearable. But it becomes apparent that this is what director, Labute, wants us to feel like, after all we are watching the blossoming evolution of a romantic relationship between step-siblings.And we are drawn in to such an extent with the characters played by Brody & Joyce that it is we,who may very well end up feeling we are being incestuous.
