This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I tried and I tried. This show is just unwatchable. The episode I just watched was on vaccinations and the number one concern people have with vaccinations was not discussed or even brushed upon. (How can the FDA make sure they are offering a safe vaccine with only limited time to test). I give Netflix more credit for streaming Human Centipede 3 than Bill Nye Saves the World. I lost all credit for Bill Nye while watching this program. Mr. Goldstein and Ms. Pizzi, you should be ashamed for being involved. Expand

I always watch things fully before I write a review, but this is one of the few that I could not finish. I just couldn't hold the cringe in; it accumulates in you, like a slow poison. So I showed it to the most extreme leftists I know and they couldn't even finish half of it because the amount of cringe, as I said, acts like a slow building poison that slips past your skin, and what happened to Bill Nye anyway? I thought this is the science guy now he does a massive U turn on everything he said.

Guess if someone pays him enough money he will say the earth is flat too.

This doesn't seem like science and there is SO much wrong with this show. As an example: Paleo diet means only eating meat? or Nobody wants nuclear power? It's nearly the opposite of the Bill Nye shows of our youth we were hoping for here.

"Settled science" is the opposite of science. When you misrepresent or deny any point of view but your own, you are not participating in science.

If "settled science" was the measure then we'd still all believe in a sun going around the earth, Einstein's static universe, phrenology and spontaneous generation (to name a few). All science has to be able to update and adapt or it isn't science.

I have no problem with people doing/being whatever the hell they want, but this show is supposed to be about FACTS! This theory is 100% based on the postmodernity of Michel Foucault, who was expressly anti-science, and spoke at length of confirmation biases. The very idea of gender fluidity is based on the notion that scientific knowledge (of gender in this case) is inherently wrong because it's derived from a particular society (in the case of this theory, created Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, a self-professed man-hating lesbian--who made a career out of convincing herself she'd found homoerotic subplots in Charles Dickens novels--the "capitalist patriarchy"). This is not only pseudo-science. Postmodern sociological theory is expressly and deliberately ANTI science! And the science guy just jumped on the bandwagon! I was a fan of his. I watched this aghast, marvelling at his ignorance. I'd love for him to come to a debate at the University of London and talk about postmodern gender theory. We'd rip him to shreds. There are actually interesting nuggets he could have shared about physiological and neurological plasticity, not that those would have proved his points, but he didn't even go there. He was just being a shameless ideologue. Well, f*** him. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start off by saying, I watched the entire series through before coming to say something about it, just in case. It didn't really get much better as an informative show, and continuously remained cringe-worthy through various segments in each episode (What was that song about mars potentially seeding earth all about? Why was it on the show even? Did I miss something there?)

Each episode had a topic that it focused on, but the format in which it's presented didn't seem to give enough time or information on any of the subjects to make anything he's trying to say convincing. Even to me, someone who's on his side. You can watch an entire episode and wonder if you actually learned anything at all that didn't sound like it was something you could "learn" from a comment in a YouTube video. As in, it was just presented horribly, unconvincing and rather childish or ridiculous sometimes.

The celebrity guests were completely unnecessary each and every time. For example: In Episode 10 "Save the World... with Space!" They invite a new Clippers (basketball) member onto the show to merely introduce himself as being new to the Clippers team, then proceed to show a kid dunk a ball in a fashion similar to what you might experience on the moon (without even suggesting or stating that's what we're looking at) and then end the show immediately right there by playing the theme song and we just watch them shoot baskets. What the hell was the point of that???? The topic of that episode was about the importance of space exploration by the way... I think? Why did they waste the time on the show to do this? What value is this to science, or anyone?

The panels were another aspect that under normal circumstances (by which I mean, giving perhaps a full 30 minutes of discussion at least) might spark up some interesting discussion or have time to present something actually worth watching. Instead we get only a few minutes of people trying to have a discussion, but being repeatedly cut off by one another before the segment suddenly ends with little to nothing of value being shared with the audience.

As far as abuse in the show goes... In Episode 11 "Malarky" (an episode on Pseudoscience and Confirmation Bias) we get a full 9 minutes of 3 different individuals voicing their opinions on the topic. But what was interesting is who was on this panel of "experts" as he always calls it (which I've come to assume is a joke of some kind). We have Professor of Health & Law Policy at the University of Alberta, Timothy Caufield, an Astrologist of Ebony Magazine from New York, Sam Reynolds, and a "Professional Skeptic" (What's that?) and Journalist/Radio Host, Jamila Bey. To put it simply, I wasn't impressed with the way they all attacked the Astrologer and undermined everything he had to say. For the record, once again I'm on Bill's side in thinking Astrology is complete BS, but I would at least have the courtesy to hear him out and attempt to reason or understand his point of view. His point of view was that "It's not Science, it's not Psuedoscience, but that it's instead Art and Entertainment" (which when I tried to consider the "art" side of it, I remained skeptical but curious of what he might try to claim). On the "Entertainment" side of it I could actually agree and say "Okay, we have all types of fiction as entertainment. Fair enough, as long as we can admit that." AS HE JUST DID. Yet they continue to lightly verbally assault him as if everything he does is actually harming the world. I don't see how you can blame a fiction writer for someone who ends up believing it's non-fiction, but okay. Now it could very well be that THIS astrologer is not like every astrologer, and you get that sense when Bill starts making claims of what Astrology is and then Sam responds with "No, that's not really what I do." But then they continue acting and talking about it as if everything Bill was saying was in fact true and nothing of what Sam was trying to claim mattered. There wasn't even a mere mention that maybe different Astrologists are different, and that maybe some are more dangerous than others. That's just **** discussion and debate and something I expect from Politicians, not Scientists. I got the sense that different people have different understandings and interest in Astrology, and instead of trying to understand that, Bill remained Closed-minded and refused to even discuss it. That's anti-science to me, and was very disappointing to watch. (To be fair though, when Sam was talking I had a difficult time understanding what he was trying to say... "Marriage of Math and Myth..." Hm.. what?) That episode was very hypocritical, ironically.

Overall, the show doesn't seem to understand how to present information intelligently and in a manner to get people interested. Doesn't present any facts, but instead a series of claims and probably does more to hurt science literacy than to help it.

Then it got worse. Then he deviated from science and went on political tirades and claimed there was science behind it, yet never showed the science (because there is none. Feelings and science are not one and the same. They sometimes can come together, but in this case it doesn't). They also keep featuring some cringeworthy performances and animations. Of which?

    1) a woman keeps talking/singing about her female parts having a voice and all the gross stuff it does because 'no shame'. Also, the music itself is among the worst I've heard and then to see people dance horribly (even Bill Nye's dancing... wtf was he thinking.)
    2) Homosexuals and other sexual and gender variants must be wanton whores because they sexually abuse a heterosexual vanilla cone. (seriously, if you wanted to bring light to other sexualities, don't make them look like sexual predators)
    3) even though he has 'expert panels' they are filled with people who act less than experts nor are moderated so it becomes a cluster of nonsense.

Sure, this show might be your thing if you're an exteme leftist (I'm a moderate leftist) and like someone who repeats your views to pretend they're more valid than they are. However, anyone who can actually analyze this would realize quickly Bill nye does nothing but discredits himself and the far left platforms.

Maybe he did it because he has been a strong advocate of Global warming and someone said "We'll give you a show to talk about it... BUUUT you have to sell your soul and credentials to talk about these other things to and lie about them."
