The field of stars around Elizabeth far outshines the future queen herself, and as a result, the series is bogged down in its own self-importance, following threads of lord protectors and stepmothers and God knows who else through a confusing maze of castle walls, time passing seemingly at will for characters you can’t bring yourselves to care about. Finally, a gripping, brilliantly written and directed deep dive into one of history's most fascinating people. A seething portrait of the inner workings of the English Court at a pivotal moment in its history. Practically perfect...in every way.

After one episode it's clear it is not Wolfhall but it is well directed, photographed, edited and acted. Some of the dialogues are anachronistic to say the least and characters could be better outlined or nuanced.
