Summary: Avatar Roku, an Avatar incarnation, died in a volcano incident and soon after the Fire Nation invaded the world. The Fire Lord at that time, Sozin, wiped out all of the Air Temples knowing that the next Avatar would be an airbender. 100 years had past, and the Fire Nation was winning the war. The new Avatar, Aang, was discovered inAvatar Roku, an Avatar incarnation, died in a volcano incident and soon after the Fire Nation invaded the world. The Fire Lord at that time, Sozin, wiped out all of the Air Temples knowing that the next Avatar would be an airbender. 100 years had past, and the Fire Nation was winning the war. The new Avatar, Aang, was discovered in suspended animation in an iceberg by two Water Tribe siblings, Katara and Sokka. It was Aang's destiny to stop Firelord Ozai, a decedent of Sozin, from using a comet's power to end the war once and for all. To halt the advances between the Fire Nation versus the rest of the remaining nations, Aang had some help from friends in his quest to master the elements that were left: water, earth, and fire. One was Katara, a waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe was his waterbending teacher, while Sokka was her older brother. Toph was a blind earthbender who taught Aang her martial art, and Zuko, Firelord Ozai's son, originally hunted down Aang to restore his lost honor with his father, but later helped Aang bend fire.
70 years have past, and Aang, the previous Avatar incarnation who was the last airbender has passed on. A waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe is the now the new Avatar. Her name is Korra, a girl who is rebellious, alone, and ready to take on whatever issues or battles she must face. It is Korra's destiny to protect the world as it was for her predecessors. She has three elements mastered: water, earth, and fire. The trouble is, she needs to master air while there are very few airbenders left. Tenzin, Aang and Katara's son, is the only person who can teach Korra how to airbend and it is her mission to find him or risk losing the new world's industrial melting pot, Republic City, to crime and anti-bender revolts.

An entertaining season. Not as good as book 1, but still a decent follow up. Korra remains one of the strongest animated television shows airing right now.

I really like The Legend of Korra, obviously it isn't better than The Legend of Aang, because Avatar: Aang is probably the best cartoon i've ever seen, and Korra it's only a sequence. If you like Aang, you will like Korra

Lets get this out of the way; ATLA was a freaking flawless show. So it's justified that korra was a good show too, and season one WAS a good show, yeah, it had flashbacks to the old characters, but it was still its own show, and it was freakin good.

That being said, I'm not getting the same vibe from season two. I didn't really rewatch as much of this as I did the other seasons and here's why: I'm gonna spoil a bit of the plot for you. Korra now has control over the avatar state and is fully realized, when a bunch of evil spirits begin to attack people. In order to save the world korra has to learn about how the spirits act and how she can stop the spirits from violating an ancient peace.

So do you see what's wrong with this plot? It doesn't have to be there. I dont care if it was "demanded" by the fans, Avatar is a story driven series and they've essentially created a filler season.

It's not entirely bad, there are a lot of cool characters introduced, like Varrick, and Vaatu. It's just that the plot is all over the place, and half the characters don't do anything. Also, the ending fight is freakin stupid. Giant spirits brawling in the bay? Are you serious? It's legend of korra, not godzilla!

Like I said, it is funny, the fights (although there aren't a ton) are well made, and the Wan backstory is really, REALLY good, like, ATLA good, but the season just doesn't hold up as soundly as the previous seasons.… Expand

This season basically has two really good episodes (the Wan episodes), and then a bunch of average episodes, and then a few totally cringe inducing moments spread all throughout the series. A lot of the actual dialog that the characters say is just really stupid, and not fitting with what the character is supposed to be like in terms of their supposed emotional intelligence, background, etc. Korra has a lot of good setting full of dumb characters.

The season ending was a cool series of fights I guess, but pretty predictable in terms of how it unfolded, and in retrospect I think I expected more than just a fight where Korra punches a thing super hard with spirit-hulk powers and then the bad stuff goes away.… Expand

Book 2 was crap. It started with lackluster writing and dialogue, not to mention a destruction of Korra's character to move the story forward. When we though we could get to the mythology of the spirit world, we see nothing more than a bunch of cute animals and two giant rugs representingBook 2 was crap. All of the conflicts jump out of the way and at the end we're left with a silly pacific rim fight scene, with little personality or emotion. The generic story was so ridiculous and forgettable I forgot about it entirely while watching books 3 and 4 just to take them seriously. Literally the only thing this book was good for was bringing back the air nation. Other than that It was entirely forgettable.… Expand

The biggest issue would be too many needless sub plots instead of focusing on the main one. 2 straight episodes dedicated to the origin story of the original Avatar and it had nothing to do with the main story at all. Very predictable plot that wasn't even slightly original and far too long at 14 episodes, This season could have been an easy 10-11.

Such a disappointment to see the first season be so promising and the second not even live up.… Expand
