Bending is a powerful form combining martial art and elemental magic. In each generation, only one bender is solely capable of controlling all four elements. That bender is the Avatar. The Avatar is the spirit of the world manifested in human form. When the Avatar dies, it reincarnates into the next nation in the cycle. Starting with the mastery of his or her native element, the Avatar learns to bend all four elements. Throughout the ages, the countless incarnations of the Avatar have served to keep the four nations in harmony. Then, the Fire Nation launched a war against the other three nations. Just as the world needed the Avatar the most, he mysteriously vanished. A hundred years later, the Fire Nation is near final victory in its ruthless war of world domination. The Air Nomads were destroyed, the Air Temples ravished, and all airbender monks eradicated. The Water Tribes were raided and driven to the brink of extinction. The Earth Kingdom remains and fights a hopeless war against the Fire Nation. Many believe the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and the cycle is broken. In the desolated South Pole, a lone Water tribe struggles to survive. It is here that the village's last remaining waterbender Katara and her warrior brother Sokka rescue a strange 12-year-old boy named Aang who has been suspended in hibernation in an iceberg. The Water tribe soon discovers that Aang is not only an Airbender--the extinct race no one has seen in a century--but also the long lost Avatar. Now Katara and Sokka must safeguard the child Avatar in his journey to master all four elements and save the world from the Fire Nation.

Season 1 is titled "Book One: Water", and Season 2 is titled "Book Two: Earth." Each of these seasons contains twenty "chapters." Season 3 is titled "Book Three: Fire", and contains 21 "chapters."

Next to Fullmetal Alchemist and Deathnote, this is probably one of the best animated series of all time. The characters are all very interesting. It is good at making me want to watch the next episode.

Easily the best animation series ever created and probably one of the best series ever made for all the different genres!!! Even better than the avatar movie with the blue people Lol:-)

this is the best TV show ever!! it is cute, funny, and hilarious. it is a great show for both children and adults alike. all the characters have depth and are really developed; unlike other kids shows.

I can safely say that this is my favorite TV show of all time, pretty much everything about it works, barring a few episodes that were disappointing, but apart from that, everything is great, it starts off a little bit childish, but through the seasons you really see just how far theI can safely say that this is my favorite TV show of all time, pretty much everything about it works, barring a few episodes that were disappointing, but apart from that, everything is great, it starts off a little bit childish, but through the seasons you really see just how far the characters change, since this has some of the best character development in any piece of media I've ever seen. The show has some excellent comedy, but also has genuine heartfelt and emotional moments, especially one episode in particular that I won't spoil; not only this but the action is thrilling, the dialogue is great without having a tonne of exposition, and even when it does it doesn't feel too shoehorned in, and all in all it's the closest show to perfect I've ever seen.… Expand

Out of all the kiddie shows put on Nickelodeon, the Avatar series have impressed me the most. No, not blue creatures in Pandora, but a world that people are able to bend the "four" elements water, earth, fire, and air. Best TV show to date, has so many things that you can reflect on in life, it embraces everything it means to be human!!!!!! IT is life. Very very good tv show, great stories, incredible animation and one hell of a journey that it has taken us major fan's to! May your life be peaceful and prosperous.

loved it when i was ten. after recently rewatch the series, i realize there's still some parts that need to be worked on. but since it's a kids stuff, can't complain. i just think that my fav character azula (i have a thing for badass villain), need more character development and maybeloved it when i was ten. after recently rewatch the series, i realize there's still some parts that need to be worked on. but since it's a kids stuff, can't complain. i just think that my fav character azula (i have a thing for badass villain), need more character development and maybe somewhat bittersweet ending. i hate how they show her in the graphic novel/comic sequel… Expand
