Watching Anne with an E was like reuniting with an old friend whom you haven't seen in awhile, but you haven't missed a beat and just pick up where you left off. Binge watched all 7 episodes on a perfect Sunday. I am looking forward to Season 2!

I really enjoyed this. I watched both seasons 1 and 2. It kind of has a bit of a Little House on the Prairie feel but it so much more. I really enjoy the character Anne and really feel for her. I love the rest of characters on the show as well. The episodes are sometimes funny, always compelling and very moving. I highly recommend this show.

Sheer genius. But I have to say that there were too problems. Some of the actors (like Mirilla's friend) thought that they were in a pantomime - a different anne of green gables. And people don't get their periods until a long time after breast development. If Anne is getting PV bleeding before any breast development, then she really does need to go to the hospital.

Anne with an E is a fresh new take on the classic. Moira has done the clever thing of preserving the essence of the original Anne -- even borrowing chunks of dialogue word-for-word from the novel -- while also putting her own spin on the story. Anne With an E was never going to work unless the right actress was chosen to carry the series, and I'd say that Amybeth McNulty was pretty much a perfect pick. Anne With an E captures the winning exuberance of Anne Shirley-who, played by AmyBeth McNulty, is entirely irresistible-while finding some deeper potency in her story. Expand

In an era when the majority of shows promote meaningless violence, negative messages and stereotypical humor I find this show to be incredibly refreshing. I admire the writers, producers and actors for their involvement in this wonderful project. Especially love the characters, Matthew and Marilla. Actually I love all the characters and the growth and evolving that they go through right before our eyes.
So many people can learn so much from this show about how to approach life. Sure there are difficult times and trying situations and people but how you deal with them is critical to loving life.

This wonderfully depicted series takes the audience on a wild and sometimes seemingly convoluted journey to the establishment of Anne Shirley's placement in the Cuthbert home, her eventual settlement in Avonlea life, but, just as we felt we could relax and revel in the finality that Anne, Matthew and Marilla were secure in their new family, the series ends with danger a-brewing. Wonderful acting--especially by young Ms. McNulty--and the physical artistry of costumes, setting, and historical accuracies are remarkable as is the amazing opening credit artwork and theme song. Highly recommended if only for the means to access the sublime perfection of season 2. Expand

Walley-Beckett doesn’t pander nor play down the darker elements in the character’s life. ... James and Thompson are great choices as the Cuthberts, neither of whom display much emotion, yet the veteran actors are quite skilled at revealing the characters’ inner feelings. The real find is McNulty. The young Irish-Canadian actress seems perfect for Anne with honesty in her performance.

In the first few episodes of Anne With An E, the familiar tales resonate--Anne’s quarrel with Mrs. Lynde, Marilla’s missing brooch--enticing new Anne fans the way the original novels did for Anne Of Green Gables in years past.

Anne with an E dares to get bold and messy. It might push the messaging too far sometimes, but like its heroine it rarely feels insincere.
