    If the first season of this show wasn't bad enough, Alphas managed to squeeze out a second season despite poor ratings. And it has gone from a mediocre show with a bad plot, to a terrible show with a horrendous plot. About the only positive thing about this entire season of this show was the ending (to remain spoiler free I won't mention what happened) and even that was inconstant with theIf the first season of this show wasn't bad enough, Alphas managed to squeeze out a second season despite poor ratings. And it has gone from a mediocre show with a bad plot, to a terrible show with a horrendous plot. About the only positive thing about this entire season of this show was the ending (to remain spoiler free I won't mention what happened) and even that was inconstant with the logic it attempted to create in just the few episodes prior to it. It's an OK show to watch if you have absolutely nothing else to do.… Expand

    I'm 5 episodes into the season and I'm very impressed at how quickly and dramatically the show has changed it's direction. It actually suprised me, as the first season was painfully slow last season and character development was incredibly weak. Everything is almost a polar opposite of that this season, characters are starting to show depth, the story finally has a true direction.

    (as of episode 5, "Gaslight") Alphas is back for season 2, and it's better than ever. With a new lead character Kat and a ton of great guest stars, Alphas is really delivering this season. The show has really taken a queue from the viewers and has made this season more personal and dark, and it's really come a long way since the pilot. Gary is still hilarious, but now Rachel, Nina and(as of episode 5, "Gaslight") Alphas is back for season 2, and it's better than ever. With a new lead character Kat and a ton of great guest stars, Alphas is really delivering this season. The show has really taken a queue from the viewers and has made this season more personal and dark, and it's really come a long way since the pilot. Gary is still hilarious, but now Rachel, Nina and Dr. Rosen are really getting their time to shine. It'd be a shame to cancel such a great show (even better considering it's on SyFy) just based on ratings. Alphas is truly one of the most underrated shows on television.… Expand

    Alphas evolved greatly in its second season. Season one was an enjoyable diversion about interesting people, boosted mostly by some great actors (specifically Strathairn and Cartwright). Season two became a lot more. It became an intriguing look at good, evil, and the gray in between. And it featured phenomenal character development and examination.     The only reason I still continue to watch this tv show is for the English actor Ryan Cartwright, he excels in the role of the autistic, the other characters are really quite dull without interest...

    After watching the first season, I was in LOVE with this series. The writing was fantastic, the storyline was interesting despite being cop-drama styled, and most of all, the characters FELT like characters and the sci-fi was properly done.

    However, after finishing S02E09, I now understand how this got cut. The writing goes from 9 to 5 in a single episode, where constant movie cliches    After watching the first season, I was in LOVE with this series. The writing was fantastic, the storyline was interesting despite being cop-drama styled, and most of all, the characters FELT like characters and the sci-fi was properly done.

    However, after finishing S02E09, I now understand how this got cut. The writing goes from 9 to 5 in a single episode, where constant movie cliches and sins just start pouring out compared to the rest.

    I originally came on metacritic wondering how anyone could possibly give this series other than a 9. I changed my score to a 6 because all of the wonderful storyline and excellent writing was all undone in the Season 2 episodes. They could have done so much better, but...they didn't. They just didn't, and while few are as disappointing as I am, my score reflects just how poorly the second season began to poorly unravel the mysteries in as cliche of a way as possible.

    Let me reiterate: this isn't because I disliked the end of season or even because I disliked it as a whole: my score reflects how a lot of the amazing and cool stuff from the 1st season and the first 5 episodes of the second season was wholly and utterly discarded to the point where the drop in quality reminds me of a holiday episode or some silly nonsense.    … Expand

    Thank you, this show is just fascinating!!!! I hope the best for the next season, the characters are perfectly built, and the plot is a magnet , the show is keeping upward getting better results episode by episode

    All in all, the Alphas season premiere is competent and enjoyable when it comes to action and pacing, but this show (especially given its modest budget) will rise and fall on the continuation of the character development begun in Season 1, and the jury's still out on that front.
