Summary: In 1911, Emma Harte (Jessica Reynold/Brenda Blethyn) is an English maid who becomes the woman in charge of a business empire in New York in the 1970s in the second adaptation of Barbara Taylor Bradford's novel of the same name. It was previously adapted in 1985 by Channel 4 with Deborah Kerr and Jenny Seagrove.
