24’s seventh season never hits the consistently entertaining heights it once did at it’s peak, but after after pretty disappointing sixth season this is somewhat of a return to form. The lengthy break between seasons, and the move from L.A. to Washington helps breath some fresh life into the formula, and whilst it may not have been subtle, it was interesting to see this show finally deal with the ethics of Bauer’s methods.

A change of setting to Washington D.C can’t conceal the glaring lack of inventiveness in this new season, even though the action and thrills are constantly engaging.

Easily the show's worst season. For 6 seasons Jack Bauer knew that bad guys had to be stopped no matter what it took. Although it's a good show, I found it kind of redundant when they kept saying "there's more to this plot than we thought". What began with Tony Almeida, General Juma, and Ike Dubaku ended with Alan Wilson, Jonas Hodges, and an evil-turned-good-turned-evil Tony Almeida.

I agree with most of the fans when they say, when you have something awful like season 6
it always makes the other 24 seasons look that much better. This show is one of those shows I couldn't miss.
Every week I would be sitting down the couch with my family, eating popcorn and waiting to see what Jake Bauhr would do next!

My suspension of disbelief is now permanently suspended. This show was good in seasons 1 & 2, but when you start bringing characters back from the dead because you have run out of innovative ideas, it's time to hang it up--which they should have done after season 4.

I hate how one female character was written off the show and bruitily and savagely murdered, but that's the way it goes. I am glad Tony Almeida is back and not a terrorist. I love the characters at CTU and the White House. Something good for this season is there are almost as many plot twists and turns as seasons one through five. The only thing this season has not had yet (which I'm sure it will later on) is moles. There has been one mole in the White House, which I was not expecting to be bad, which is good, but I want a few more shocks and moles before I rate this season higher than an eight. I would recommend all of you to see it. I can understand if you hated season six and do not feel like it is worth risking of wasting your time, but do not give up home, now. I think its a refreshing start to a new day, however a bit slow within the first 2 hours except for a few moments, it looks promising to actually have the potential to be the best season yet, so long as they do not repeat story lines bring in more sudden unexsected deaths etc, etc. but i still love it

The premises in 24 get more and more preposterous every season. But at least in season seven, although you don't buy a single bit of what's going on, there's enough of a focus on interesting characters to draw you in. Not as good as the best seasons (1, 2, 5), but way better than the trainwreck of season 6.

  1. The show's long break seems to have rejuvenated its story lines, in which intense, rapid-fire action plays out against the backdrop of a complex, methodical geopolitical chess game.
  2. The new season has a few moments, mostly involving the return from the dead of Jack's old CTU colleague Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard), who now seems to be working for the bad guys. But all the attempts by Jack and his writers to justify every past decision often brings the action to a crawl.

Tonally, this often feels more like a psychological thriller than an action one, which is a very good sign. 24 is thinking, not just doing, and that bodes well for the later hours when our friend has tended to jump the tracks. All in all, a terrific start.
