    Early seasons set a high bar, and this one did not disappoint -- for about 20 episodes. After a compelling set-up (albeit with the usual amount of characters set on fire by Mexicans at 9 pm and leading an assault upon criminal mercenary strongholds in LA at 5 am), the plot begins to spring more leaks than a Burundian submarine. Disappointing finish with multiple characters behaving in aEarly seasons set a high bar, and this one did not disappoint -- for about 20 episodes.     In other words, same old '24,' for better in the initially intriguing plot and worse in the way much of the story seems to derive from other shows, including 'The West Wing' and the narcotics mini-series 'Kingpin.' [28 Oct 2003]
