    Ahead of the predictable and unsatisfying cliffhanger, the series slows to a crawl, and there’s an inescapable sense that it’s built every inch of its reveal-driven plotting around a mystery that can’t even manage to be very mysterious.

There are layers upon layers of "Is this reality? I can't tell anymore!" About halfway through the season, there's no longer any intrigue. It devolves into a boring, dragged-out repeat of characters moving in and out of rooms, locations, etc., trying to solve some elaborate sci-fi reality riddle with no cohesive through-line in the end. You will be busy with the rest of your evening, sifting through the mud of Netflix, Disney or whatever comes spewing forth to find some little nuggets of quality. 1899 is pure dregs. as another reviewer mentioned, an "insult to the intelligence" of a normal person.
