If like me you have nostalgia for these games, you’ll be quite happy with the Top Racer Collection. Fans of Horizon Chase who want to see where it draws much of its inspiration from might want to check this out, too. They’re very much of their era, but they were among the best of that era. It’s great to have them all in one place and in fine form.

There is potentially more gameplay to experience here than in your entire game library, particularly if you're trying to promote a lowly League club to Premiership level.

If you enjoy games like Angry Birds or Crush The Castle, but want something slightly different, Siege Hero is for you. The first person perspective is a neat change, and seeing how they differentiate themselves from the competition in future updates will be interesting to see.

Overall, I’m very pleased with how Gori: Cuddly Carnage is on Steam Deck, and expect it to get Verified very soon. The game itself surprised me with its quality, and it is one I won’t forget for a while. It excels with its fun gameplay, good writing, and great combat and feels right at home on Steam Deck from start to finish. It is just held back by a few annoyances.

I didn't expect much from Ellie & Max, and got quite a bit back in return. There's a lot of heart in the game's duo, and even though you probably won't recognize them until you've played a few rounds, the developer definitely has my attention going forward.

The level designs are a little loose at times, and if you're not interested in clearing every difficulty level or unlocking extras, it's over a bit quickly, but overall, I think it's a pretty enjoyable romp.

The only major problem with Smash Bandits' approach is the energy mechanic, which limits you to five plays in a short amount of time, forcing you to either wait or spend in-game chips to keep playing. Thankfully, chips are given out a decent amount, and playing it in short spurts is an excellent way to go about runs.

Beyond the solid mechanics, I love the style of this game. The art from Ryan Goldsberry is fantastic in general but especially in regards to the faux novel covers of the fame cards. The tone is just perfect.

Its more modern selection of titles will probably appeal better than the first volume, and shoot-em-up fans in particular will find a lot to like here. There are a couple of outright clunkers in the selection, but I’ll at least grant that they are interesting clunkers. Certainly more good than bad, and if you enjoy playing arcade classics I think you’ll get your kicks here. That said, if only a few games in the list appeal to you, there might be some merit in checking out the individual Arcade Archives releases instead.

If you enjoy a good classic beat-em-up and appreciate it when games don’t take themselves too seriously, you might want to look into Gourmet Warriors. I think there’s still a lot of room for improvement here in terms of how these QUByte Classics are packaged, but if you just want to enjoy the game this more than gets the job done.

Strangely enough, I ended up enjoying this one a little more than the previous games, even while recognizing that the trick is starting to get old.

Right now, My Time at Portia on PC is still the best version overall because of the visual and performance boost, but the mobile version is a close second thanks to its new features and up to date content.

In its current state, Station to Station is just lovely. I love the aesthetic, soundtrack, and puzzles, and it has been a joy to sink into daily over the last few weeks on Steam Deck. I hope a future update adds the ability to go a step back or destroy a part rather than reloading. With a lot planned for the game already, Station to Station is worth your time, and I can’t wait to play the new content when the updates arrive.

To be honest, Proto Raider is one of those games you're likely to only play through once. You'll have a great time figuring out the trick to each level, collecting all the treasures, and seeing every stage.

While I think the 'hardcore' nature of the gameplay will appeal mainly to the hardcore fans, the supplemental league ghosts and leaderboards do a good job of providing additional goals that might appeal to a wider audience.

Folks who enjoy solving Picross puzzles but need a slight change of pace will want to check out Tents and Trees. It’s not a complete reinvention of the idea, but it’s distinct enough that it might be the breath of fresh air a weary Picross veteran needs. The controls are comfortable, the look and sound are cozy, and there are tons of puzzles to solve. A fine effort.

To be good at Kid Tripp, it's simply a matter of having a strong memory, quick reflexes and a dump-truck load of determination. If you're up to the challenge, Kid Tripp is a sometimes brutally hard, yet incredibly rewarding little platform runner.

Although its Korean, you can tell the developer has a real affection for classic Japanese SRPGs, and as a result, we've got something that feels like it dropped out of a 1992 SEGA Genesis catalog, right down to its translation.

Wyvern is a deceptively deep MMO hiding behind a, well, let's say classic presentation. The initial learning curve is murderously steep, but that's off-set somewhat by a helpful and eager player base.

Matchblocks is fast, furious, and potentially painful, a pretty good combo in a matching game. So yeah, come for the bright shiny colors-they're worth it. You'll end up staying when Matchblocks teaches you just how fast your fingers can fly.

The occasional technical issues aren’t really enough to drag down the overall experience of Fate/Samurai Remnant, though. This is a really cool action-RPG that takes some elements that Omega Force has fully mastered and marries them to some enjoyable new mechanics, resulting in something that feels familiar and fresh at the same time. Throw in an engaging story from the folks at TYPE-MOON and you have a game that is very easy to recommend.

It seems mostly tuned for players who might be interested in a bright, colorful shooter but don’t have the patience to deal with the punishment some of the classics dish out. Either way, its low price makes it easy to bite on. I found Rangerdog to be an easy game to like, and even if it’s not as challenging or risque as Parodius can be, it certainly scratched a similar itch.
