The gameplay just isn’t up to scratch. Hack, slash and float is the basic premise, and that is about the extent of it. All the shopping for new weapons and random character level-ups don’t appear to have any effect on the meat and bones of the gameplay, and the repetition soon leads to boredom.- TotalGames.net

Otogi 2, while often frustrating, is a lot of fun for anyone who has the simple urge to play a simple game where furious attacking is all that's required to hack, slam and kill enemies while at the same time being able to destroy just about every element of the scenery.- TotalGames.net

A very accomplished title, as you’d expect from Rowan, if only all the polish that’s gone into the three dimensional section applied across the sometimes clunky menu and map screens. A dumbed down first-person shooter designed specifically for the PS2, which isn't equipped to run the more exciting elements of the Deus Ex universe.
